I toured at Hillside manor. The lady that showed me around was very nice. The facility was much smaller than [facility name removed]. The food service selections were more customized. She sometimes brought her dog to work. The small private room was very small. At the time there were no structured activities. She said most of the residents know each other and develop their own activities. As it turns out if I had chose them, they ended up closing.
I currently have a loved one at this facility. The current staff are all younger folks who dress in Street clothes. My loved one tells me they speak in foul language every day. There just doesn't seem to be any professional people here at all. Directors change every couple of months so not sure who even to talk to. Recent influx of mentally challenged folks just arrived. Always short staffed and lots of turn over. Patients are being spoken to rudely by staff. Elevator constantly broken with patients getting stuck. I can say that the remodeling that was done in the past year is outstanding. Recent canopy on the patio with a darling chandelier. This is not a dirty facility however owner needs to do better in overseeing day to day operations. I will remain anonymous so there is no backlash against my loved one who refuses to be placed anywhere else.

Our family ha an in person tur and the experience was wonderful, the lady who gave the tour was awesome. It was a little higher in price and a much smaller facility but we were able to go and see the kitchen area and different rooms which was nice.
If your loved one needs a higher acuity level, this place is not recommended. After being there for a long time, they forced my mother onto hospice (had been trying for almost 7 years), then after signing her on, determined that she needed to leave the next day. They told me they didn't have staff to attend to her needs. She was between a Level 2 and Level 3 as defined by their web site. Had to find a new place in a couple of days. Housekeeping left something to be desired. Meals went downhill once new owners took over (not local). Not much in the way of activities. This was few months ago (during Covid lockdown), so things may be different now. As with many assisted living/personal care homes, had a revolving door of staff. Had at least 7 different administrators in 10 years.

The administrators were very kind and helpful. The private room they showed me was very nice. It was to be painted. The only thing that botheredp me was that it was old and dismal. It didn’t look like there was a lot to do. I realize it’s winter but the outside grounds needed a bit of TLC.

A Place for Mom has scored Hillside Manor A Personal Care Home Community 3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
