Growing a tradition of care!

This 48-unit, 64 bed Assisted Living Community shares its campus with DayBreak at Lynchburg, which offers programs for residents with Alzheimer's and other related dementias.
We provide seniors with individualized care and assistance in a home-like setting, while maintaining their maximum independence. Every resident will find a unique mix of security and independent living, privacy and companionship, and physical and social well being.

The people who gave us the tour were great. When we walked in I did get a nursing home feel and there was a distinct odor. It is an older, small facility. I did notice the staff who worked there were older which makes me feel they had been there a while and were committed to their job/residents.

We are really sorry to hear that you visited and didn't have a great first impression. We hope you'll come back and have a chance to see (and smell) the benefit of a small, intimate community.
Be prepared to initiate all communications with the community, I would like to see this improved. I would not recommend this community to others if there were other options.

We are sorry that your experience at Heritage Green wasn’t exceptional. That is always our goal. Please know that we recognize the great responsibility of caring for the residents who choose to make our community ‘home’. Your comments have been shared with our new Executive Director and we will add your comments to our Quality Improvement program as we strive to provide care and communicate at the highest level.
My wife entered Memory Care at Heritage Green Daybreak a month ago. This has been the most difficult time of my life. I don't know how I could have gotten through this without the caring, professional staff at Heritage Green and I mean all of them. Covid-19 makes their work more than twice as hard as it ought to be. God bless them.
Wonderful place and staff. My step-mom and aunt were there. The care they both received was excellent. It is a caring place with staff that goes over and beyond. The activities staff is super. I will be forever grateful to them for years of great care to my family.
Peace of mind. That is the greatest value Heritage Green offers me. I relocated my mother here from her home. It was a difficult adjustment. Heritage Green went out of their way to make her transition easy. And now with the Covid issues, they have made my concern over her almost non-existent. I know she is in the best place. They have taken extra measures to make sure their residents and staff are safe, They have gone out of their way to find ways to keep them engaged. It has been difficult not being able to see her in person, but they have made it possible to remain in contact with Mom. They staff care about the residents and it shows in their treatment. I researched several places before choosing Heritage Green and no longer need to second guess my decision. I know it was the right one.
My mother [name removed] loved it there. We didn't know what we were going to do. Heritage Green made it so easy to get my mother there. Everyone was really nice. The staff is great.
Our Mom has been a resident at Heritage Green Assisted Living for 3 years. The decision to have her live in assisted living was very difficult. We visited several residences in Lynchburg. She preferred a smaller residence with everything on one floor - she had a fear of getting lost. We knew we had found the right fit once we came to Heritage Green. Everyone was friendly and we could see that they truly loved the people for whom they cared. And it has remained that way for the three years she has been there. As a matter of fact it in many ways seems more loving. The staff keeps Mom engaged with lots of activities. The meals are tasty (first hand knowledge) and it is well maintained and clean. And they have been so vigilant through the recent quarantine. I so appreciate them all!
My father required respite care for recovery following surgery. He stayed in AL at Heritage Green and had a great experience. His room was clean and tidy, laundry was done every morning and returned folded nice and neat the same day. Cleaning was performed daily. The food was very good, with plenty being served. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Medication was given appropriately and with consideration to his specific needs. Very inviting atmosphere all the way around.
My mother says she is treaded kindly by everyone there. My low rating is for the person that toured us told us lies and mislead our family. We trusted this individual and wrote a check only to find out later that the place was not what she had sold us. It is also our fault for rushing through the paperwork.

We are sorry you felt misled. That is certainly not our intention with any family.
I have an uncle who have been lovingly cared for at Heritage Green since 2014 in the memory care unit. He is 92 and is still going strong! In 2019 the family had to face the emotional challenge of the sudden task of providing care to his 88 year old brother and 86 year old sister. I have been simply amazed at how the staff at Heritage Green responded to our needs! They have shown professionalism with empathy that helped put my concerns at ease. They made arrangements to have the brothers share the same room! I thought it was phenomenal how they worked with the family to provide a smooth transition during a stressful time for the family. Everyone was so please how everything worked out! Then things got really amazing three months later when we learned that their sister suddenly needed assisted living and had to move from out of state. Oh, no! Here we go again the family thought. Heritage Green was not my aunt’s first choice but because of the family’s experience with Heritage Green we decided we better have Heritage Green as a back up plan. Boy, are we ever glad we did! All the staff at Heritage Green stepped up and came through where others did not. Heritage Green were genuinely happy as well as the family to have all three of the siblings together! My experience with Heritage Green has been amazing and I truly felt blessed to have them in our time of need. They treat us like family and they have done a phenomenal job of looking after my two uncles and aunt. Thanks to all of the staff at Heritage Green from the bottom of my heart! ??
I had an opportunity to tour several places in Lynchburg for my dad but when I ran across Heritage Green I was impressed. The community was clean and inviting and the staff greeted us with smiling faces. I had no idea on how start with the process of finding my dad a home but Ta'Shauna in the marketing department held my hand and made the process so streamlined for us. I will be forever grateful for Heritage Green and all they have done for my dad. He's so happy and we all love seeing our dad so happy.
Heritage Green has been amazing when it came to finding a home for my mom. Every time we visit mom is happy and engaging in activities with the other residents. I can't imagine finding a better place for mom, she is really thriving in that environment and I look forward to seeing her happy on each visit I make. It was a long hard choice to find a place for our mom to go but when we found Heritage Green we just knew that was home!
This is a great facility! I had to recently relocate my mother from the DC Area where she had been in her current home for more than 42 years in a rushed situation. At the age of 91, this is difficult. The staff at Heritage Green worked with me to make the transition as smooth as possible and made sure that she was given the attention she needed. From the minute I walked in to Heritage Green to fill out the paperwork, all of the staff were so pleasant and displayed a caring feeling. As I walked over to see where Mom would be staying, I saw first hand how the staff interacted with the residents. They are caring, patient, and expressed to me when I asked one staff member that she treats the residents as she would her Grandmother because she know one day she will be like them. The food is great and the daily activities are varied and provide something that everyone enjoys. They even take the residents out for rides in the van several times a week just so they can get out. If you are looking for a place to put Mom or Dad when they need assistance, this is definitely the place for them to be. It gives me peace of mind that she is well cared for and happy. While I went every day in the beginning to check on her, I now go just to see her. No matter when I showed up, morning, noon, afternoon, evening or weekend, it was always a positive and productive attitude with the staff members. They even go so far as to provide things for them to do on the weekends. This is such a plus as it gets boring if they do not have activities. Heritage Green also has activities during the month that engage the general public. They are seminars on subjects that are of interest or just events for fun. This is an additional way to engage the residents with the world around them. I cannot say enough good things about Heritage Green. This is just an awesome place! If you are looking into a facility, this should be the only place you look.
My mom has been a resident of Heritage Green for 2 years, and I would recommend this facility to others. The staff are kind and understanding and know how to deal with sometimes challenging patients in the memory care area. They really try to keep the residents involved and offer a variety of daily activities.
My 81 year old mother, who has moderate dementia, spent a month in Heritage Green in Lynchburg this spring for respite care, and it was a great experience for her and our whole family. The facility is perfectly clean, has an updated look and is pleasant and comfortable with a number of different areas for the residents to spend their time in. The staff is outstanding and could not have been more welcoming--everyone we encountered was warm, caring and competent, and they seemed to know all the "tricks" to help manage people with dementia in a kind but effective way. We chose Heritage Green for her respite care in large part because of the facility and staff, but also because they offer a multiple daily activities, seven days per week (a lot of other places do not have activities on weekends, which we felt was a big problem). The residents seemed to love the activities which ranged from outings in the van, to hymn singing and music, to games and reading aloud. My mother enjoyed all of these, and the staff occasionally sent us photos of her participating, which our family appreciated. The food seemed very tasty and was fresh and hot in the dining area. My mother was clean, appropriately dressed and seemed to be very much enjoying herself whenever we stopped by (and visitors are welcomed any time, no notice needed). We will definitely choose Heritage Green for future respite care, and when the time comes for long term care, we are so happy that we have found a place where we feel confident my mother will be happy and will receive excellent compassionate care. Thank you so much, Heritage Green!
After we decided to move my sister from Florida where she had lived in two different assisted-living facilities, our family moved her to Virginia to be near her sister. The first facility to contact me was Heritage Green. They answered all of my questions and set up an appointment immediately. We were very impressed with the cleanliness, friendliness, and the many activities provided for the residents. When we heard that they had a room available for my sister, we knew that Heritage Green was the right place for her. They went above and beyond to accommodate her transition and placement needs. She has been living at Heritage Green for one year and now considers it her home. Most important to us are the caretakers who surround her and provide her with compassionate care and service. I often recommend Heritage Green to friends and relatives who may have family members who are ready to transition to assisted living. As involved family members, we are learning to let go and rely more on the professionals at Heritage Green whom we trust to make the right decisions for the proper care of my sister. With gratitude, [Name removed]
The staff at Heritage Green is taking wonderful care of my Mom on the Daybreak unit. They are so caring and I can tell they really care about her and her well being. I am thankful for Heritage Green everyday because I don’t have to worry about her. I know that she is safe and well taken care of all the time. My Dad was also a resident at Heritage Green before he passed away two years ago. The staff loved him as much as I did and always will. I have highly recommended Heritage Green to many people and will continue to do so. [name removed]
My mom has lived at Heritage Green for two years. She has access to lots of activities and participates in many. There was an adjustment period and she does occasionally have complaints about one staff member or another but I have found everyone to be very sweet and caring. Initially I received multiple phone calls a day from her but those lessened with time; now, I am lucky to call and find her in her room. She enjoys other residents’ company and is much more active than when she lived in her home alone. The residents can go on van rides 4 times a week, play memory games, attend movie nights and play bingo (my Mom’s favorite). There are planned family events and support meetings for family. It was a very hard decision for us to make to place Mom in Assisted Living. But concern for her health made that decision. Here we have access to 24 hour care available. She is more active, has a more regulated schedule and prescription management. I do recommend Heritage Green if you find your family at this stage with aging loved ones.
We knew right away this would be a safe and caring environment for our mother. Our concerns were less stressful just knowing that our mother was well taken care of each day… The staff is amazing and appreciated greatly. I cannot stress enough the attention to all details and questions myself and my siblings had when we were considering a place for our mother. We had absolutely everything we needed to make a decision on mom's care. We left our first meeting with Heritage Green personnel with feelings of trust and satisfaction, and this feeling has continued to this day!
Heritage Green took care of both of my parents. And with the exception of one person, everyone was exceptionally friendly toward me and my parents. As soon as I raised the issue regarding one employee, that issue was immediately resolved. Living 3000 miles away, I could only visit occasionally, yet Heritage Green kept me up to date with any changes to their care and their over all wellbeing. Heritage Green was a please to work with. Thank you for taking care of my parents.
