nightmare

The staff was very unprofessional. When speaking with me they would curse and talk about other patients. They were very rude to my grandfather although he wasn't the most pleasant to work with because he was in memory care they didn't treat him with respect. His room was always filthy. Someone was supposed to clean it once a week but it was always disgusting every time I visited with him. The smell was outrageous and he had blood/food/dried up feces on the floor. Tuna fish that was in his drawer (he was in memory care) that was left in there so long bugs were flying around it and it smelled like something died in his room. Anytime I addressed my issues with the Director over memory care she would always make excuses for the behavior instead of trying to correct the problem. I will never recommend this place to anyone! Absolutely horrid. This place is a complete nightmare Have more professional staff, treat residents in memory care with more respect, actually clean the rooms of residents and when issues arise and are discussed instead of making excuses, actually try to fix the problems

Facility/ staff comments: Everyone is quick to learn resident names, and those of frequently visiting family members, too. Additionally, they ensure you are included in meals and offer a family event once a month, which is always great. The craft team focuses on door/ apartment decor for the seasons, so your family member always has something about fall, Halloween, winter holidays, etc. they can share with the family or keep for their apartment. Staff is quick to communicate about concerns or issues for those residents with memory loss (i.e. someone other than resident is POA). They offer many opportunities to shop and dine off premises. Additionally, the affinity clubs, such as bible study, welcome committee, etc. organize their own off premises excursions. Maintenance staff is very responsive concerning anything as minor as helping your family member refresh their cable/ tv channels to ac/ heating concerns and plumbing. Also, the housekeeping staff is wonderful! They know exactly how your family member wants things cleaned and accommodate them (within reason). The medical staff knows each patient concern and discusses information with Point of Contact family member(s) to ensure transparency and the onsite doctor visits and pharmacy mail service cannot be matched! I love this as I missed many weeks, not days, but weeks worth of work transporting my parent to and from various appointments, follow-ups, vaccinations, pharmacy, etc. The nutrition team is amazing and know exactly what your family member prefers to drink with each meal offering within days of arrival. They are also courteous and provide meals to go if your family member is a later arrival to dinner time. (Dining area closed, but can easily eat in lounge areas, apartment, outdoors, etc.) The dining team also ISD's quick to pivot. I recall joining my mom for a meal and the delivery truck was late and the chef ingeniously offered chicken and waffles as a last minute entree choice for that breakfast. It was wonderful! The administration is readily accessible and follows up on concerns, as well as financial matters. They were very helpful in assisting with my mom's long- term care claim, I'll never forget that. Not wishing it upon myself, but should the time come and I need these services in the future, I'd choose Harmony without question. This experience has truly motivated me to reexamine my retirement goals and plans. Also, I love that they post so many things of their Facebook page. Family members can follow Harmony and watch videos of their loved one doing karaoke, dancing, or painting. They also do things like passing out candy on Halloween and family movie nights, luaus, and more! Back to the on site nurses and healthcare techs- I've seen healthcare techs stay with their client throughout out meals and even some rec activities. Also, they are extremely thorough in ensuring those who aren't in independent living are checked in and out if the building by approved parties. Furthermore, any overnight, vacations, or other excursions are discussed and they provide meds in packets to help loved ones ensure the parent still receives adequate medical care. They are very good at finding items that memory care patients have 'lost'. Lastly, the onsite salon stylist is a kind woman who is able to do anything from a simple wash and condition to full highlights, etc. She's very friendly and accessible. Residents also have opportunities to receive manicures. My mom doesn't use the computers, but they have them- with internet connection. There's also a library and many residents will exchange reading material amongst themselves. People with ambulatory concerns are out and about, not stuck in their apartments. They chat in hallways, lounge areas, lobbies, breezeways... Keep in mind I evaluated Harmony for more than 2 years. since I'm in close proximity or can visit frequently on my way to/ from the office, I was able to execute announced and unannounced visits and my experience was always consistent. Moreover, the attitudes of faculty/clientele, along with the general atmosphere were consistent. People are kind, helpful, and content. The place is clean - ALWAYS. Also, they answer the phone when you call or promptly return messages. What also impressed me is that over the 2 year period, my points of contact remained the same. The low turnover was encouraging, not to mention the number of long-term residents who are happy to speak to incoming family members and residents about the place. It was truly the complete opposite of anything anyone typically hears about elderly care.

I am currently a resident at Harmony at Victory Station and things have been very good for me here so far. The staff and the facility are nice and efficient. For the first two weeks I thought that the food was very good, but now it is okay. The menu is full of pork, which is boring. The soup is good on most days. More sandwich choices would be great. Overall, I think I would recommend Harmony at Victory Station to others.

I would rate all a 5. Overall we have had a very positive experience and my dad is thriving there! My dad is thriving. He is in memory care and the staff is very attentive and patient. I get feed back on his care and status. And if anything is out of the ordinary it is followed up on quickly (i.e. physical changes needed nursing or doctors care, physical therapy, hygiene supplies and general well being. Staff is very responsive to my mom and other family members during regular visits.

Nursing Staff at Harmony is Excellent.

My experience with harmony has been very good. Both parents went to live there. They lived in different areas as mom went to memory care and dad is in assisted living. We chose this facility because they could both be in the same building and dad could visit as much as he wanted/was able. We started the elder care journey caring for mom ourselves. Then we went to a senior living facility. Mom was not cared for adequately, prompting our family to search for another spot. The memory care unit was why we chose Harmony. Well staffed. Quality nursing care. Clean facility and kind people. Mom lived nearly 2 years there. I'm so thankful we chose Harmony. The nursing staff and support team were (are) excellent. They walked with our family through the valley of the shadow of death. I could leave each visit with full confidence mom was being compassionately cared for. Picking Harmony was an excellent choice.

Harmony at Victory Station

Harmony is a great place. However, the staff has completely turned over. If l was rating the apartment I live in I would give it a 5, but I would rate the overall place a 2. It's really sad that it is in this situation. I think there mistake was not giving the department heads what they needed. And they all have left. They were here from the ground up. And they let them go. This beautiful place is running on. We no longer have house keeping. The dining room doesn't have enough people to cook or deliver the food on time. Our maintenance people left and we have a new guy that really doesn't know what he is doing. The new director really needs to read our contract. He is angry at the people who confront him about the lack of employees. And how much they are paying to live here. I know this is happening everywhere which is so sad. This is all the talk here. It really is a beautiful place. It just looks like its going to take a while. The people they hire either don't show up or they work one day and never come back. We have many empty apartments on all three floors. And people are still talking about moving.

pleased but needs more staff

They are having staffing issues (as I'm sure most places are). Lots of turnover, even at the Executive Director level. Food is a problem, quality and staff to serve. My mother rarely utilized this option. She pays over $[removed]/month. The positive note is she doesn't have to leave the building to see people, a regular apartment would be less money, but this benefit is worth the extra $[removed], I suppose. That and location of her apartment. Ground floor, we don't have to go through the main are, but her patio door to get to her.

Appearance are deceiving.

Our family did not have a good experience at Harmony. I moved my mom out after 30 days. It looks great when you tour, but don't be fooled by the makeup! They are very difficult to get a hold of anyone. They make you feel very uncomfortable there. I often found my mom in the common area with feces on her and partially dressed, and this was in only a few weeks. If you approach staff, they made you feel bad and ashamed to ask for help. I could write a book about the numerous bad occurrences at Harmony. I have moved her to a different facility, and things have been so much better. At first with Harmony, I thought that was just what the nursing home industry was like. But I now know it was just Harmony.

Exceptional Care!

The staff was EXCELLENT! They all gave exceptional care to my loved one. They treated him with kindness and respect. I couldn't ask for better care. They kept me informed and updated about his care. The food has a lot to be desired. It was not appealing to look at or to taste. Luckily, my loved one had a kitchen and had his own food. The facility is beautifully decorated. They also add décor for every holiday making it fun and inviting for all who live there and visit. I would recommend Harmony at Victory Station to friends and family in a heartbeat.

Peace of Mind Place for a Parent

The staff are friendly, upfront, professional, and accommodating. The apartment is beautiful and clean. And its's well designed for the elderly - doors are wide, there are no hazards, etc. However the microwave is above the stove, which is a challenge. But other than that, it's been great.

Community Tour

Harmony at Victory Station, like all of the places we toured, could have been a viable place for our loved one. It seemed like a good facility. It seemed to provide the same level of service and care as the other places we toured. We chose based on proximity to where we live. And Harmony was also more expensive.

Tour experience

We really liked Harmony at Victory Station and wanted our loved one to go here. The facility was clean, the price was right, and staff were great. They were unfortunately unable to take my loved one because of a stage 3 wound, they said they were unable to care for it. We also found out they are not able to take residents who are on hospice, but if they move in then get placed on hospice then they can. We wish it would have worked out.
