A new home for Dad.

When I first approached my dad with the idea of assisted living, he was more open to it than I expected. Greystone Farm gave us the tour, and they spent a lot of time explaining things. At the end, he said "Yeah, I can see myself living here." Which completely surprised me. From the day he moved in until today, almost every day he tells me how much he likes it there, or how great this or that person is. I've been very happy with them and don't feel guilty about leaving him him here. He is so much better off. He's not alone, and he is very well taken care of. He really likes the aides and especially the nurses. His only complaints have been small and center around the food. He tells me they give him too much food. And then with Covid when food is delivered to his room, his CocaCola comes as a can of generic version, whereas in the dining room, it's true fountain CocaCola. But we can easily work around those things! Other than that, he is very happy there. It has been the prefect solution for him. People are in and out checking on him all day, but he doesn't feel like he's being watched. He has his own apartment, so when people come in, it's like a mini visit, and then they go. It has been wonderful for me being close by to Dod so I can do the same, drop in for a moment as often as I want or need to. I think it's very expensive, but he's getting all of these services that are so beneficial. And his happiness and wellbeing is the most important thing to me. He doesn't do a lot of the activities, but he really enjoys when they bring in different musicians - pianists violinists, etc. It has been a really great move for him and everyone in our family.... This is Assisted Living Plus and Great for That Purpose

If a parent or loved one needed more medical attention this is the place to go. Their medical needs model is great and why we choose them. The community has a wide variety of activities available for the residents to choose from.

My tour review

This was a nice community but I felt like there was another community that was a better fit for my loved one and the other community was more cost efficient.

I am happy with it

The staff members are all very friendly, and even though they are short handed like many other communities they do a good job keeping the place clean. The meals and dining service is great, the meals are wonderful. The have a lot of activities as long as the residents participate the the staff do a great job encouraging.

They're a genuine, caring community.

I like the staff very much. They are very supportive. The director is extremely approachable. They all seem to care very much about the residents, which is lovely. We haven't really had many issues. We had some challenges at first with his medications, but that has all been ironed out. The food is okay, but sometimes he's not happy with the way things are cooked. They tend to be dry and overcooked. But everybody is very attentive, and they genuinely seem to care about the people who live there. I think every assisted living facility is grossly overpriced, but they do a good job here.

A terrible phone system

In the month of October 2020 the Salem facility is a sham // 3-4 days of no phone contact // my wife is very upset with the fact of no contact with your facility so she can talk with her mother // we spend a ton of money to your facility and you have a phone system problem // in this day and age this is NO excuse // what is wrong with you system that you can not contact anyone plus if you leave a message no one call's you back //get your act together // what kind of an organization are you running ??

Greystone Farm At Salem Salem

The community is very clean and well kept and well taken care of. They couldn't be nicer! They are courteous, on top of things, and they take care of people. We have been very happy with Greystone Farm. We do wish, however, that they were easier to reach on the phone. If we are able to get through and leave a message, it can be a while before we get a response. This only happens about 50% of the time, however.

GreyStone: A Homey Living Environment

Grey Stone has provided great care to my 89 year old mother in their Harbor Memory Care unit 24/7. My mother depends on 1:1 assistance to meet all her needs throughout the day, including the use of specialized adaptive equipment. You’ll find the staff is friendly and caring beginning right at the desk when you walk in through the front door. The sales, administrative, cafeteria, and staff in general are always available to make their residents and families feel comfortable in their living environment. The nursing staff is very caring and readily available to assist with any medical needs that arise as well. The aids who work directly with the residents and provide their day to day care are phenomenal. They work as a team and are the backbone that supports the needs of everyone who resides there. As Grey Stone does cost somewhat more than others facilities in the area, I do feel they should offer higher salaries to the aids who work within the Harbor unit, to enable them to remain and establish a long term career there. It is a very demanding job that is both compassionately and professionally met by everyone who works there, which makes me feel very comfortable when I leave after my visit with my mother. I would highly recommend sending my loved one to live at Grey Stone in Salem, NH

No help!!

my family member who is a resident had a serious fall while entering the build after a visit with the family .. someone outside went to get help but no staff came out to help . So sad we had to help her up and carry her in ourselves not knowing her injuries. While in the lobby we were waiting for assistance but no one offered for at least ten minutes. An ambulance was called and she was taken to hospital!! I was completely shocked that this is a facility that takes care of the elderly and no one bothered to help !!

Needs Improvement

The lack of stimulation and activities are a negative for anyone somewhat active. There is no gym facility/ indoor exercise area, pool or movie theatre like some of the larger facilities. That being said, other day to day living experiences should be enhanced to compensate. This is not the case. Transportation is almost non existent (one person typically transported one day a week only). The van is less than ideal. Rooms are claustrophobic and small in size and are not kept clean. The amount of dust accumulated in the rooms is disgusting. You must be willing to clean your loved ones apartment. The staff is lovely however, especially all the dining room/kitchen staff. Food is of a higher quality here compared with their larger facilities. Nursing staff, however inconsistent, is largely caring and competent. Remember, they are a large corporate business and are in the business to make money. If I had the choice, I would go with a not for profit living community.

Wonderful Community!

We have to move to another community because they do not accept Medicare, but this is a wonderful community. Very clean and well-maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They were very welcoming to the family members who came to visit. The food is good, I have dined there with him and they provided well-balanced meals. There are plenty of activity and nice places to walk around. They offer tours outside of the community and shopping trips into town.

Pleasant Tour, But Not The One For Us

I toured this community for my mother and her needs. The tour went well, and everyone was very kind. The community looked neat and tidy. The staff was very nice. The issue I had was the memory care. It felt very cowered. I would felt comfortable with my mother living in the tight space like that. It was a good experience, but not the community for us.

Expensive

My tour of this community was nice I enjoyed it. The community from what I saw appeared to be nice and clean. The staff was kind and friendly. I really did like, but their rates were too expensive for our budget. Other than the rates this is a nice community.

A great choice!

My mother has been at this facility for over 6 months. The staff at Greystone Farm is exceptional. My mother feels loved and well cared for. The transition to community living was smooth with the help of a caring staff. Cleanliness is very important to her and she comments always about how well the place is kept. Whenever I ask how things are she remarks that she has nothing to complain about. The grounds are lovely and the many family events are first class and provide fun and quality time. A variety of weekly trips and activities offer stimulation and foster friendships. I highly recommend this place.

Comparable to others, but no parking.

We toured here when we were looking. They were comparable to other places, though not as close as the one we settled on. We also didn't like that there was no place to park.
