The only recommendation we will make!!

Happy employees = Happy customers and family members. First hand have watched the staff go above and beyond for the people who live there. My Mom needed care and our neighbors highly recommended Green Acres. From the home visit with their nurse, the admission process with administrator, and the daily care I've witnessed; I wish we wouldve made this move sooner. Not all are the same. Ask other residents families first, to get the truth.

Very disappointed in this facility. Lack of communication between DCWs and the Administrator. Ask families for opinions, rather than take their word for what they say they do, because they don't do much of what they tell families they are going to do. Oh, enjoy your fresh baked treat, it's the only time they pass one out, appearance is everything to them.

Make sure it's a good match

Green Acres may be a good match if your loved one is at the far ends of the spectrum: either than can't or don't want to do anything but sit OR if they can essentially do everything on their own but you just want someone to be there with them. We were essentially sold a bill of goods during the intake that they could care for my loved one with dementia in their assisted living. The staff (for the most part, but with some noteable exceptions) is very kind, but poorly trained on elder care (and no training on dementia, it seemed) The corporate office was no help; the site administrator refused mediation, and made it clear that any slight infraction would result with our 30 day notice. Rather than stay and wait for the other shoe to drop, we made the move (2 weeks after arrival) and are very happy!

Green Acres is not as pretty as it sounds.

I am very disappointed with care, food, actvities and passing of fluids/snacks. This place puts on a good show until you sign on the line. The food they give would not make a bird gain weight. The staff is friendly but untrained, administration is bipolar, without their medicine, very sad. Activities and activity director are a joke, my loved one was doing a craft once using glue, it was time for the actvity director to leave, so she took the glue because she didn't want it left out with the workers that night, the craft was over needless to say. Also, i have known a number of the residents being dehydrated, (falling, = trip to hospital, and easy cover up) i myself am there quite often, and have only seen them pass drinks (other than meals) twice. I have been told they do this twice a day, NOT! Rooms are presented to be clean, dont look under anything though. I feel the staff tries, they work with what they have, but we all know it rolls down hill. Yard is beautiful!!! Not that they see it.

DON'T PUT YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!

Put a bullet through your loved one's head instead of dropping them off at Green Acre$. Especially if your loved one has dementia, is in ANY way physically, emotionally or psychologically impaired. Do NOT trust this facility!!...they won't properly feed your diabetic loved one, they wont medicate them properly, they wont care for them properly AT ALL. I wouldnt trust these scammers with a pet rock. They promised to give my loved one pain meds every 4 hours, but only gave it every 12 hrs, because I forced them to. They promised edible meals for a diabetic, but THEY LIED. They have no nutritionist, no diabetic meals, no snacks for diabetics....and their "workers" are unskilled laborers being trained on the job. AVOID!! P.S. The popcorn in the fake "cafe" is made not even once a week. Its stale and disgusting. They re-heat it for the aroma...like air freshener. Most elderly cannot even eat popcorn, anyway. THE SO-CALLED "24 hr cafe" is LOCKED UP AT NIGHT. NO REAL FOOD IS AVAILABLE THERE, ANYWAY. CUPCAKES ARE pretty but STALE and unhealthy. CUPCAKES ARE EYE CANDY FOR THE RELATIVES...for $$$$.. ALSO, $5,000-$6200./ month should probably include two- ply toilet paper. And light bulbs. But it doesn't. AVOID. LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Very Nice!

My mother lived in the memory care unit here and we had a great overall experience with them. I was a little concerned with the level of attentiveness of the staff at times. For example, she needs someone to provide water/drinks for her and give her the initiative to drink it, otherwise she will go without. At times she was a bit dehydrated. Otherwise, the community is fabulous! It is very nice, open, and colorful with lots of windows -- a great atmosphere. It is not drab or hospital-like at all. It is a relatively new community, so they are still growing. I would say it would be a great place to go!

This is a beautiful facility with a feel of home. The staff is wonderful. My parents are still acclimating to the change. The increase social aspect is a great change for my mother, as is the increased activity. I feel very fortunate to have found this "place for Mom ...and Dad!" The only issue I think could be improved is the menu.

A Good Fit

Green Acres in Mt Pleasant is a great fit for my mother. The manager is a very friendly caring person and the staff could not be nicer. The day my mother moved in they came and escorted her to her first meal and made sure she was introduced to everyone and made her feel very welcome. Whenever someone has gone to visit her Mom has a huge smile on her face and seems very happy and content. All of her wall hangings were hung promptly and where she wanted them. The move in process was very smooth and all of the paperwork was well organized and readily available and all was in order. It has been an awesome experience and we could not be happier than we are with this choice of facilities.
