My loved one is very comfortable here. Everyone is super friendly, and helpful. The safety is wonderful. Some of the activities that are available are library, outside performers, book club, cards and games, fitness classes, movies, happy hour, and more for the residents to choose from in the independent living area. The bonus is that if there are additions such as medication distribution there is a fee, but can would be a cost in the independent living area. There is a laundry room available to do laundry. There is dry cleaners available. There is a taxi service that is added onto the monthly bill, if used.

We're glad to hear your loved one feels so comfortable here and takes advantage of many of our Lifestyle360 activities. It is wonderful to read that you feel the team, and their fellow residents, are a friendly and helpful bunch. Thanks also for mentioning some of the amenities we have available for residents, all of which help to make Five Star Premier Residences of Yonkers a great place to explore new interests, make new friends, and enjoy every day, all while still having the comfort of being at home.
Our initial experience was not so good, but we have gotten things figured out since then. When we were having issues the supervisor replied right away and action was taken. So far the care here has been ok and he seems happy and well taken care of whenever I go to see him. They do have a nice activities program on a daily basis for residents. Right now they are still shut down so we are not able to visit much inside of their rooms and we have had a couple of issues with laundry. Overall I would definitely recommend them to others who are looking.

Five Star just seemed very well run and organized, professional, and really quite nice. It was a great place, my loved one's 2nd choice in fact. They had a lot more going on activities-wise, but the apartment wasn’t as nice as the place he ended up.

We have been very pleased with our experience so far with Five Star Premier Residences. My dad said the staff members are nice and the food is great. It is a lot nicer than his previous facility, it is more home-like rather than institutional. I would definitely recommend them to others who are looking, he is happy here.

Thanks for sharing your feedback on your experience -- and your recommendation. We appreciate your dad's compliments about our team, and will be sure to pass along his thumbs up on the food to Chef Tim! Our goal is to provide a warm and inviting residence, and we were very glad to hear you say that it feels like home.
This community has been very great, and it is kept clean. the value has been good and the care services have been excellent. Due to COVID they have stopped most of the activities but they do have somethings online.
Due to COVID there hasn't been to many activities, but beforehand they had beading classes where you can make jewelry, as well as painting and craft classes. My mother really enjoyed those two activities. Having been to a handful of communities this was the first one that felt like a luxury apartment first, before any sort of assisted living or staffed building. The initial impression was more of a normal living situation, everything felt very clean, modern, and recently renovated. My mother had a very unique medical situation and this community was the first and only place to really listen and give creative way to care for her and handle her needs. We felt the other places were not going to be well equipped for her, but this place really took the time to meet her and understand her needs and take a chance on incorporating her into the community.
The staff at Five Star Premier is pretty friendly they are very attentive to the residence, they seem to really care about them. Due to mothers physical condition she isn't able to participate in the overall activities they offer to the residence. They do have live performances and lectures, they will have members of the orchestra come in and give performances. They have great social activities. My mother seems pretty happy with the food, the rooms are very nice.
The community is pretty clean. The staff is usually pretty good. The floor nursing staff is excellent and are very friendly and responsive. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the people who were in charge of coordinating services like PT or OT, weren't very responsive to our requests, especially since our loved one had some very particular needs. The actual individuals giving the care have been quite good. Sometimes they are slow to communicate with us regarding changes in our loved one's care. Also before the pandemic, they were always featuring resident's art in the common areas of the community. They do seem to have attracted a good variety of different kinds of programming available for the residents. They seem to be a little weak in the memory care services area. They do have a memory care department, although they really were not well equipped to deal with the needs associated with memory care. For those who are more mobile, this would community would be a good fit. But, for those who need a higher level of care, perhaps not.

As the Executive Director I would welcome a conversation with you regarding your comments. Exceeding resident and family expectations is our goal in all of our interactions, and in our Bridge to Rediscovery neighborhood we strive to provide an environment where seniors living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia can flourish and share a positive life experience. Since you feel we fell short of those goals I hope you are willing to have a discussion with me and ask that you please contact me at the community at your earliest convenience. Kind regards, John.
The times I've been there it's been very clean. The staff is very friendly. The care is very good. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there have been a lot of ups and downs and the community is on lock down. We felt at first they were a little slow to update us on the status of the community, but they have gotten better over time. My father loves the food. He doesn't partake much in the activities, but they do offer them for the residents. My father has his own room and needed some more care throughout the night so we needed to hire an additional aid with him. One aid in particular has been great with keeping up with him and letting us FaceTime us. We looked at a couple communities and brought my father up from Florida, and we were very happy up until this pandemic. We don't necessarily think it is the fault of the community, however, as this has been a very difficult time for everybody.
When I was looking for a community for my mom, I visited several places in the area, and Five Star had the nicest environment, was the most updated, and felt like the closest approximation to a luxury apartment building. Also, Five Star was willing to assessment my mom, work with us, and accommodate her unique set of the needs. The nursing and administrative staff have been very friendly in accommodating our requests as well. They have nice amenities available for the residents including a gym, beautiful library, and a business center with computers and printers to use. The food is adequate, They offer a restaurant style dining experience with menus and a hostess. The dining staff are aware of each residents likes and dislikes. I am happy to have my mom in a safe and stable environment.
My parents live in 5-star Yonkers for over 5 years. In the past year there is a bug problem, particularly flies in the hallways and residences. The problem is apparently worse for apartments over the dining room/kitchen. It is a awful to see my parents with 6-7 large flies a day swooping in their faces, in their hair and on their food. I contacted management months ago and got no response from [name removed], the director. The place looks nice but beware - would you rent from an apartment with a bug problem unchecked? Something just isn't right in this property lately.

I am the Regional Director of Operations and would like to speak with you about your impressions of our community. The entire team at Five Star Residences of Yonkers takes great pride in our beautiful building and grounds and more importantly the care we provide to our residents on a daily basis. The maintenance staff works hard each day to make sure our building is clean, and like most businesses our community has contracts and preventative plans in place with a professional pest control vendor. Please contact me at the community as I would like to hear more about your parent's experience. You may contact me by calling the community and ask to speak to the Regional Director of Operations. Kind regards, Wendy.
I liked the whole place--the apts. were very nice, the food was excellent and they even have a gym with the equipment I like. I am considering living here.
great facility if only we could afford it
My sister moved in Five Star this past year and has adjusted well. The place is clean; most staff are helpful; varied activities and transportation to local stores, bank, trips etc. Sometimes the Dining Room Coordinator has been abrupt; or rushing us out before our bills were paid. One time when my sister came in for her birthday with 2 friends, the Coordinator said to her before being seated that she had to leave by 6:15. I was shocked at the impoliteness upon arriving on time for the meal. My biggest complaint is the cafe not being open daily as noted in the resident handbook. Often it is closed 2-3 times a week. My sister enjoys the breakfast and lunch menus. It is unfortunate that management has not resolved this chronic problem. A separate person (not an employee from the dining room) needs to be hired so the residents can take advantage of this service that is supposed to be provided. I trust that management will attend to this. It will make many residents happy including my sister.

I am the Executive Director and want to thank you for you positive feedback on our staff, activities, transportation and the cleanliness of our community. I'm happy to let you know we recently hired another server and filled the assistant dining room manager position. With the new staff on board we've been able to have the cafe open for its regular hours the last few weeks and -- while we are still looking for another server -- are in a good place with our staffing levels as we head toward 2019. Thanks again for your feedback and feel free to reach out to me directly if you have concerns in the future.
Five Star presented as an Independent Living facility that has minimal cross over with their Asssted Living and Memory Care units. It seems to us that because IL is so much cheaper than AL and MC that new residents with full time aids and mobility devices as well as memory issues are being admitted to the IL section when they don’t seem to match well with the truly IL residents. Next, we have had many negative interactions with the head of maintenance who has actually been quite verbally rude and unlike many of the other staff, doesn’t acknowledge me or my loved one when passing in the hall, and doesn’t make sure a full elevator of residents can enter without the door closing. After a conversation with the director, it was made clear that their working relationship is more important than resident satisfaction. Finally, we did not find or choose Five Star with any help from a Place for Mom. Their system is free because they won’t meet with you, they rarely call back, and won’t accompany you on site visits. I would not recommend APFM.

I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you regarding your observations as the happiness and safety of our residents and the peace of mind of our families is very important to us. Please contact me by calling the community and asking to speak to the Regional Director of Operations. Kind regards, Wendy.
Loved it. Dining rooms were beautiful, setting was beautiful, rooms were perfect, social activities were ideal. Staff was super lovely. #1 on my list.
Absolutely loved this place. It's just like the Atria in California, where my mother currently lives. My top pic of the day. It was also very close to my apt, which puts it on the plus side.
I loved this place and thought it would be an excellent fit for my mother. Although she is still very much not interested, the next step would be to schedule a lunch with one of the residents.
I was not bowled over. It's a nice place, good facilities, what seem to be good and comprehensive services like housekeeping and laundry, but some of the add-on services like "level 3: service is an extra $750 per month, over the $8000 *expensive) for the memory care studio. The say they use a Montessori=based system, and I don't know what that means or implies. We would also be responsible for buying all the supplies, pads, diapers, etc that Linda would need *(I thought the facility provided these, but apparently not.)
