The food at Columbia Cottage was great. Care was good. It was a very well managed place. It was exceptional. The layout of the community was good. The staff are very friendly, they care about their job and they care about the people that are there at Columbia Cottage.
My parents moved into Columbia Cottage, Florence, AL, on [date removed]. Mom was coming out of three months of rehab, was using a wheelchair to get around, and has some dementia. Dad is on a walker, and probably could have stayed in their home, but he wanted to be with Mom (probably due to their 71 years of marriage). This is honestly the best decision our family has ever made! Mom has thrived, now using a walker if she remembers it. She thinks she is truly the queen because everything is done for them - all she has to do is get out of her chair to go to the dining room for meals - and was so surprised when trays were delivered to their apartment when she was sick. They both love that they can get their hair done on site, without calling my sister for a ride. Both parents used to be "snackers", and we put the usual snacks in their apartment. However, because they are eating such good meals, and desserts, of course, the snacks remain untouched. We have caught them enjoying ice cream from the Country Kitchen more than once! When Dad had to be hospitalized and I came in from another state, staying in their home, Mom refused to come to the house, saying she was more comfortable in the apartment with the staff and other residents around. There could never be a greater compliment, in my eyes. "Thank you, Cottages" isn't enough for all they have done. And my sister and brother in law are so pleased with the Cottages, they are trying to get his Mom to move there, too.
We weren't as impressed with this as much as Keestone. We passed a call button that was going off and when we asked our guide about it she said they must be with another patient.
Columbia Cottage is a splendid community. The staff are very friendly and were able to address all of my concerns. They shared the menu which offers a variety of choices for the residents. They didn't have a room available while we were searching but this place was worth the tim
My mother is finally getting adjusted to this community, so far everything is working very well. She is getting up and participating in some of the activities. I know is she is in good hands, the staff is excellent. The food is pretty nice. It is a good looking community, they do a pretty good job with keeping the community nice and clean. She receives good care and I would recommend this community.
Liked the 20 levels of care system. Very homey feel. Loved the apt looking out onto the courtyard.
