About the community Colonial Gardens - San Antonio

Colonial Gardens in San Antonio promotes a living center that is dignified, and does not strip the independence away from a senior. Memory care can be very complicated. We provide a senior living environment that can provide the safety and security that a senior suffering with memory problems will need. Moving a senior out of their home when it becomes a dangerous situation can be disheartening to many families. Moving to a home that is designed for those that are suffering with Alzheimer's and dementia problems can provide the right solution for a family dealing with this type of situation. Senior care for memory problems is our specialty. All of our communities are small, and this can provide the best situation for living for a dementia patient. Our bedrooms are private giving a senior their own space. Care is provided around the clock and this is a very important part of caring for someone with dementia problems. Assisted living can provide many amenities that many families cannot provide in the home. We provide all of the meals and snacks that a senior will need each day. We love to hear about a residents favorite meal, and our chef can prepare...

Finding the perfect place for my dad was very important and when I left Colonial Gardens I knew this is where he needs to be. Staff greeted me on the tour with smiles and happiness. I got to see how staff engaged with the residents and it was a great feeling. Community is clean, smells good, and very home like feeling. I would recommend Colonial Gardens over and over.

My family has had a wonderful experience with Colonial Garden's, they are the best!

Our family is very happy with the Colonial Gardens community. The quality of the care is amazing, the staff members are so giving. It may not be the most fancy community or as upscale but the care and concern the providers give is outstanding. The entire staff from the cooks, to the director of nursing, to the maintenance are just wonderful

Tour of Colonial Gardens

Colonial Gardens was a nice place. It was a little older looking, I think it was a converted home.

Feels like Home

The Director at Colonial Gardens, Georgina is a gem. Over the years I have witnessed first hand her dedication and sincere love for her residents. She is truly invested in the well being and care of the residents as much as their families. The support and open communication she has with families is greatly appreciated. The "cottages" do feel like a home but they also have plenty of room for the residents to walk around and the patio and backyards are breathtaking. They are very natural environments with great big beautiful yards filled with plenty of trees and a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. And I can't forget to mention [name removed] and [name removed] who have also been there for years and treat the residents with so much love and dignity.

Warm and friendly environment

We chose Colonial Gardens because the friendliness of the staff, the warm atmosphere, and seeing the residents participating in the activities during our tour. Also for us, it was very close to our home. My father had a private room and it was pretty spacious. The best part about this community is the fact that the staff members have been here for a while, they seem committed to their jobs and it makes it a warm and comfortable environment. I would recommend the facility.

Would recommend this community, but the house keeping and the food could use improvements

The care our loved one receives is great, she gets all of her meds, she gets her baths and hair done and her laundry done. We haven't been able to visit this community since March, but there is about four or five care takers that we absolutely love, they have taken amazing care of our loved one, they are just outstanding. The value is fine, its moderately priced. The personal care assistance's are great, however the house keeping is just okay, we have had to go there a couple times and clean our loved ones room because it was dirty and sometimes her clothes get mixed up with the other residents. The activities director is wonderful and they had a lot of activities for the residents to participate in before COVID. Since COVID the communication between the nursing home and the families is not that great. We are having to call and find out things, so it is greatly lacking. That is the only problem we have had with this community. The quality and variety of the food is not that good, it could use some improvements. They serve everyone the same thing regardless of their dietary restrictions and they get a lot of sweets. Every month we get medical bills that we get from her insurance that does not specify what the chargers are for. Especially since our loved one does not go to a doctors office, she uses the on sight doctor at the community.

A Caring Place

My loved one has been at Colonial Gardens for three years. He has Parkinson's Disease. Although he participates less than he used to, there are many great activities for the residents. The care during the pandemic has been exceptional and the staff very helpful. The current Executive Director has a passion for the residents and has elevated the care of the residents since she was hired. She's readily available and assists in solving any issues. I love the small residences where there is a family feel. The food is delicious too.

Review of Colonial Gardens San Antonio

Colonial Gardens offers "peace of mind" for you families needing to find a safe supportive environment for their loved one. They specialize in helping people with activities/dementia. The staff are highly trained and passionate about proving the best care for your loved one. The property looks like a home (rather than a facility) and is decorated beautifully with antiques, offers a large outdoor area with mature oak trees.

Before [date removed], I was going to see my Dad every day. Anytime during my visits, the facility was clean and residents were engaged with activities. [Name removed] is a great Activity Director. [Name removed] is totally engaged with the residents, he plays Bingo, bowling, and arts + crafts. Since the virus (COVID-19) I am unable to go in. I visit, the place is clean, nurses were wearing a mask and obliging by the state guidelines. I hear [name removed] performing an activity in the background. The facility continues to be fun and residents look good, even during the circumstances.

Colonial Gardens # 20

Colonial Gardens has been a great place for my family member. All the staff and nurses have been great and very attentive. As a family member, you look at the area and see the environment, the facility is always clean, our family member room is clean and the residents are engaging in some activity. I am pleased with the Activity Director, [name removed]. [Name removed] is engaging and enthusiastic with the residents. [Name removed] encourages the residents to participate with activities: painting, bingo, dominoes, crafts and exercising. When their is a Holiday coming up, [name removed] is their decorating the facility (inside and out) to fit the occasion. The nurse staff have a smile and kind words to their residents. The nurse staff is their to reassure me that my family member is well taken care of and they attend to their needs. The Director, [name removed], is always their to answer questions and hear my concerns.

Happy I Found Colonial Gardens

I couldn’t have made a better choice for my spouse than this community. He has been in this facility over a year and I couldn’t be happier with the care he’s getting. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. It’s nice to see the interaction staff has with the residents. Credit new management with improvements.
