My loved one is doing really well. The girls who take care of her are great - they do a really good job. I highly recommend their memory care unit. They had an outbreak of Covid that they handled well. [name removed] , the activities director always has something going on. [name removed]and the other girls - you can tell the residents love them, because whenever the caregivers do something for them, the residents hug them and say thank you. If it's a 5-star scale, I give them 10. I would highly, highly recommend Cascades.

Excellent Community
My sister moved into Cascades in [date removed] She made this decision after spending 2 weeks there for Respite Care while I was out of town. She raved about all the activities, great people, and good food. She had faced many health challenges and was happy to get the support she needed to have a full life again. She has a wonderful apartment, a busy life, and many friends. She receives the assistance she needs from excellent caretakers. Any maintenance issues are taken care of quickly and efficiently. The Management is very open and honest and holds regular "town hall" meetings to address concerns, answer questions, and share information. The atmosphere of Cascades is friendly, caring, and inviting. Great place!

High quality care
I highly recommend Cascades of Tucson. My folks have been there for 5 years & I’ve observed their care over time. The management/staff are friendly, sincere, approachable & responsive. If we have a need, Cascades listens & responds. The daily operations are well thought-out, giving support, consistency & freedom to residents, while keeping them well cared for. The attention/protection given them during the worst of COVId was remarkable! Science-based rules/procedures for staff/residents were instituted/strictly maintained, reducing the virus’ spread. Cascades worked with national/state officials/departments to ensure residents received tests, vaccines/boosters asap. This was communicated to residents’ families clearly thru frequent emails. Knowing my parents are in a safe, clean & loving home means a lot since I live far away. No home is perfect but Cascades comes close with management/staff making up any difference with care & responsiveness. I’m forever grateful & HIGHLY recommend!

Honest effort
I know many senior care facilities do the bare minimum required for the job and I’m sure there are more negative experiences than that. Not at Cascades. My mom has been living here for 4 years and in that time period I never heard or saw anything but caring professionals. In that amount of time and the many visits I’ve had I’m sure I’d have noticed something. Mom would still be living here but due to a thieves work she can no longer able to pay the bill. When I explained to [name removed] and [name removed] what happened they waived the 30 day moving rule. That was big help and I thank them. I can think of no finer facility to entrust your loved ones to.

A place in the sun that has everything a person would need - Cascades of Tucson.
Over the years it has been a pleasure for my mother to live at Cascades. She receives great care, healthy food, good and continuous interaction with staff and other residents. She enjoys the experience that Cascades offers. She enjoys the activities and friendliness of staff and her newfound friends. The activities offered keep her attention and the security is above average. Staff are incredible and extremely polite and friendly. Their attention to assisted living residents is above average. The atmosphere is one of peace and tranquility. Respectfully quiet for residents, staff and visitors. My mom has a little companion named Toby. Everyone loves Toby and he is more than happy to receive and return the sentiment (he only growls at me). Well done Cascades of Tucson! An overall rating for my family would be all "Five Stars" for all categories as listed in the survey.

I would recommend
Some of the staff members were absolutely fantastic when it came to caring for our loved one - we did have some problems with a few others, and sometimes we had issues with them bringing the meals on time. However when our loved one wanted specific snack items they would bring them on time. Our loved one did enjoy bingo and even though the value was a little bit high it did give us that peace of mind.

Tour of Cascades
The tour we had with Cascades was wonderful, there was nothing negative to say. The only reason we did not choose this facility was because the layout of the room was not going to work out well for her, the bathroom was a little too far away from the bedroom.

Liked the atmosphere, not over bearing or pretentious, residents seemed friendly and content. Liked the simple floorplan. Would be hard to get lost here. Every staff member smiled at us and greeted us. Facilities were very clean even in the midst of room refurbishing, there was no mess. Was a little surprised that the dining room couldn't serve my salmon without the bleu cheese but realized they must need to prepare it ahead of time. In general food was okay had alternatives to choose from, but dinner ended at 6:30 PM, is that a little too early? My first tour so I'm not sure. Think this would be a nice place for Mom and Dad. Is on my short list, will probably be bringing them back for a second tour.

DO NOT PUT A LOVED ONE IN THE CASCADES OF TUCSON
My 96 year old dad was at Cascades of Tucson for a month before he passed away. After moving in after hip surgery rehab he was welcomed with open arms. Unfortunately that was not to continue. During lunch one day he was treated horribly by a dining room server. So bad, in fact, as soon as we returned to his room he wanted to know how long he had to stay. Not long after, he was in the dining room and fell because he could not get anyone’s attention to bring him his walker and tried to get up and walk without it. He was sent to the ER for stitches and no family member was contacted. I only found out because I contacted the front desk after not being able to reach him. Eventually my dad ended up in the hospital with pneumonia and a gaping wound where his hip surgery scar had torn open - something the caregivers who bathed him twice a week and checked on him at night failed to notice. Do not be fooled by the outward appearance of this horrible place. My dad sadly has passed and encouraging him to move here for his well-being is one of my biggest regrets.

Response from Cascades of Tucson
April 8, 2019
We at Cascades of Tucson express our sincere condolences to you and your family at the loss of your father. We were honored to provide care to him for the short time he was a resident. We appreciate the time you took to write this review and assure you we take these issues seriously. When you brought the concern with an interaction between your father and a server to our attention it was addressed immediately. The misunderstanding between them was resolved to his and your satisfaction at the time. As is the case in most communities, the dining room is a very busy and crowded place. Walkers are removed for the safety of both residents and staff and there are occasions that it may take a busy server a few more minutes than usual to retrieve a walker when a resident requests it. We ask and encourage residents to be patient, but sometimes residents make the choice not to wait. As to a family member not being informed when your father fell choosing to retrieve his walker on his own, that is not the case. The incident report documentation on file clearly states which family member was contacted and that contact was made within thirty minutes of the occurrence. Also, the records and charts all indicate that the wound you mention being open was intact up until his fall. While we certainly understand your grief at losing a loved one, we also take very seriously the trust families put in us. We regret that you believe your father's care here was not up to standard. Please know that we appreciated him as a part of our treasured resident family.

A Place for Mom has scored Cascades of Tucson 9.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
