Stay away from all Parks
141 citations from Arizona department of health for the company. Any of the Park Senior villas are missing fingerprint cards, and CPR certifications. Owner and upper management do not care about elderly. Only money.

Abhorrent neglect
Dispensed medication incorrectly and inconsistently, never cleaned room or bathroom with fecal matter on toilet and dirty sink basin for 5 days, lost clothes and towels after”laundering” ,
Meals were not what was on ‘menu”. Never changed bed linens in 24days….I had to do that and had to request shower for my relative because caregiver said it “wasn’t her day to shower”. Caregivers came into room and “ teased my relative” ( a memory care resident) about her not knowing their names and making up names for themselves, staff would bring in their young children and sit on sofa on their phones, when I finally removed relative I discovered open sore on leg with drainage. Staff never addressed or acknowledged this. Absolutely abhorrent “care”.

Not what I expected or thought it was
Things started out terribly here for my dad. They just don't have enough staff to properly care for the residents. When I moved dad in, he was mobile and able to take care of his own basic care and hygiene needs himself. Within 2 months, he had declined significantly. He'd become bed ridden/wheelchair bound and was dehydrated, which led to health issues. I'm scared to think about what could have happened if I had not been there and been his advocate. It's a very small community and I, along with a couple of other families, really had to push and fight to get changes to start happening. But finally, they are. Dad is doing much better now. The food has improved. I will say, the house staff is very good. However, I would not recommend them to others. If I would have been able to move dad, I would have. I'm just glad things are starting to get better. It's so important to stay active in your loved one's care to make change and make sure things are happening the way you think they are and should be.

Great Place to Be
There is no complaints about the food. They have a lot of activites, which looks pretty goo. They have movies, wheel of fortune, arts, crafts, and exercising. It was the best value for the money. We picked this community because, I like the individual villas, which has up to 9 to 10 people, so it's a smaller community. I like the set-up. It's much quieter. Check it out. I would highly recommend.

We chose Park Senior Villas because of the competitive cost, the convenient location, and my brother did a drive by and everything looked good. We were also in a time crunch and they had availability quickly. Based off our short experience, I would recommend them.

Disappointing.
I moved my father in to the Villas about a year ago. There has been continual difficulty with the level of care and constant staff turn over.
There have been and are good staff but most don't stay. It is like starting from scratch with each change.
I thought the concept of a smaller house rather than a large facility would be good for my dad but the only advantage so far has been that he doesn't get lost like he did in a larger building.
The meals that I've seen are mostly bland and don't look appealing to me. My father doesn't complain but seeing the meals makes me sad. My father really enjoyed food and it is one of the few things that he can still enjoy.
Overall I'm disappointed and overwhelmed trying to navigate managing his care. We've had private caregivers since day one at the Villas (in addition to almost daily visits by me in the beginning). I don't know what I'd do without them as they are the ones who prompt the staff (often) to make sure that his personal need are taken care of (teeth brushed, hearing aids in, CPAP is used and clean) and that he goes outside and does something every day.
The staff in the house are kind to my dad and there are a few that have been amazing ([name removed]) who go above and beyond for him. I am very grateful for her and [name removed] and [name removed] (activities) as they have been consistent and very good to my dad.
My experience this last year is that there is poor communication between staff at the Villas and poor communication with me as a family member. There is little to no accountability or follow through.
I wish I had known it would be like this. I would not have moved my father to the Villas. I did not expect things to be perfect but I had thought it would get better not worse. I would be happy with adequate.
Think twice before choosing the Villas at Houghton.
It seems like the company president reads the reviews posted on this site. I can only hope that [name removed] can help me write a more positive follow-up review. I would love for him to reach out and help to make these last years of my dad's life better.

Taking care mom
We felt welcome when we first walked in and only needed to tour 2 more facilities before we knew that the Villas was the one for our mom. She stayed there a little over a year. We were comfortable and did not have to worry.
At 90 years old and with significant dementia, they took great care of her, helping with personal hygiene, meals, and making sure she could attend all the events.
Her room was always tidy and clothes were clean and we stopped by often. The food was fresh and cooked in the building every day. The staff always called if they were concerned about something.
The last 2 weeks of her life, the staff were very considerate and caring. I stayed with her in her room and they made sure to check on me, too. Even though she was mostly unconscious, every one of the staff stopped by at least once a day to spend a few minutes.
I just can't say enough about the care she received in her building. All I can say is:

I toured this community
This was a nice informative tour. It was a locked facility so people couldn't wander off. It was a group of small homes with about 7 or 8 people in each home. The staff was so helpful to us and explained why it would be the place for them. Couples can't really go there it is just for individual people with memory loss.

Welcoming staff!
I toured many communities with one being The Villas at Houghton. They all had their advantages and disadvantages. This community was nice, the tour guide that took me around was knowable and friendly. It was a good experience, but not the best for my loved ones.

I Couldn't Be Happier
On my tour here I enjoyed moment seeing this is what we were looking for. The staff are loving with attentive care. After working hard and finding the right mixture of medication my husband is doing much better. I trusted everything they did and they genuinely cared. He is not interested in the activities available but he loves the meals. I ate with him fresh, natural, and dietitian recommended meals. They do a great job and it is personalized. I am thankful for them. As I recommend the community to friends, it is encouraging to hear good feedback about their experiences as well.

Air Conditioning Could Improve
There is one thing the could improve on, in the unit my mom was in, there is kind of like a front, private dining room, and the air conditioning is really bad there, so it was always really hot. That was about the only negative thing though.

It's an incredible place, it's immaculate...
After we got her into her place, we found that there isn't a lot of communication between the staff and the family. They are all very friendly, but I have to dig for information. Another one of those places.....
Thought the place was a lovely environment, however I felt like that we were promised things in the beginning that no one followed through with on their part. Also we were told visitors were okay , however that is not the issue. I don't think they can handle family visiting residents they seem to only be able to handle residents that perhaps have dementia or no family visiting.
