My mom spent the last 6 years of her life at Canterbury Hall. We were worried about her transitioning from her home to a “facility” but there was literally no transition . She moved in and she was home. Canterbury Hall does not feel like a hospital. The residents are all clean, happy and settled in. They have gardens and chickens and some of the patients even have pets. The rates are super reasonable and they let my mom stay until she passed 6 months ago. The staff is great , the food is homemade and the activities are meaningful. I tell everyone just go for a tour .... Read more

Canterbury Hall is a warm and wonderful care facility. My sister was in residence for the last month of her life and her family is so grateful for the excellent care given to her by the staff. Our only wish was that she had gotten there earlier and been able to experience the family atmosphere and beautiful setting more. Her private room and bath held all her own favorite furniture, pictures and even her cat, making her transition and stay there so much more comfortable than being in a traditional nursing home.

This is a small place, maybe 10 assisted living rooms and 3-4 independent living apartments. Its a beautiful setting. They have their own raised bed gardens, a small greenhouse, and some chickens. They take food fairly seriously, generally cooking with fresh local ingredients. The two biggest selling points for our family were (1) they are pet-friendly; the dog could stay... and (2) the price. While residents have a host of options for activities... from gardening, to caring for the chickens, to current event discussions... staff could do a better job at getting residents engaged. For the most part, residents seem to have to figure to take a lot of responsibility for their own engagements.
