Fair

My loved one who has Parkinson and Alzheimer's really likes it here. The communication is poor between the staff members and things take a while to be resolved. They have activities like bingo, musicians , painting , flower arranging and trips to the store to keep the residents busy.

Anybody who is looking for a place, I would defintely recommend it

The staff members and their care services would get 10 stars, they all are so friendly and very kind to our loved one. The staff does a really good job staying in touch with our family, whether its texting us or calling us with updates on our loved one. We really liked the smallness of the community because they get more one on one care and they have taken care great of our loved one. Even though she does not always participate in the activities, when we are able to visit they always have a lot going on it is great. Overall we have been very happy with our decision.

Experience with Brookdale

We chose Brookdale Western Hills because of the value for the money. The room sizes at the facility are pretty good. They could use improvement on the food, he has a hard time chewing and they are constantly giving him food that is too tough and everything is covered with gravy.

A good place for my mom

We thought they did an overall good job, they were responsive to our calls whenever we had questions or needed assistance with our loved one. We sure would recommend the Brookdale Western Hills community to others.

I was pleasantly surprised. A nice atmosphere, good community space, adequate rooms. [Name removed] was very easy to talk to, and informative. Seems most needed services were covered in base rate, and good 24 hour living options should Gran get restless at night.

My visit

The independent living area did not offer a step down option. The assisted living area was across town. This is a smaller community and they keep the front door locked. The people I met were nice and the apartments were reasonably well laid out. The only way out is into the interior courtyard which is well maintained, however it is small.

We toured this community. the rooms were very small like a studio. The property was not what we wanted. The staff were nice and answered the questions we had for the care offer. They had people smoking around the community I did not like knowing was allowed. I would recommend that families see this community for the care of a loved one.

Taking Good Care of My Friend and Her Needs

My friend is doing well with her move to this community. She has adjusted very well to it, and I know she is in good hands. The community is nice and clean. She hasn't any problems with the cleanliness. The staff is very good with caring for her and her needs. I'am confident about the care she is receiving. This is a community I would recommend, it has worked out well for us.

Friendly staff but a lot of miscommunication

They are telling me they are going to do one thing, but they do another. They have been told that their regional supervisor told them something, but they still aren't doing the correct thing. Food wise, what they're telling me and what they're doing is different. Laundry services haven't been done in 2 weeks.

Wanted my mom here but due to the possibility of greater needs & care, they could not accommodate us. Facility was small & residents seemed to vary in ages & needs & were out & about all over; I was impressed by the security of this facility.

Nice and Clean and Friendly

I've only had one other dealing with an assisted living in another town and it wasn't the best. I walked into Sterling House and was impressed from the start...Lisa is so nice, the rooms are so nice and clean. Mom just moved in yesterday so I don't know how it is going to work out since she will be 92 this month and thinks she is still 50, so she wants to live in her own home alone. I've met some of the tenants and they are really nice, one in particular keeps telling me that Mom is going to be okay. The decision was hard but had to be made. Now I just hope and pray that Mom will get adjusted and learn to love not being isolated and alone like she has been for years. Of the three places I visited, I was most impressed with Sterling House and I liked the fact that at full capacity it takes only 42 people...

Nice but Expensive

The Sterling House in Temple is very nice, but it wasn't within our price range. It has a circular layout. I liked that is is so secure. You couldn't get out into the parking lot without someone letting you. It's very specialized for dementia.
