A very nice community with friendly staff - highly recommend
Overall Brookdale Summerfield has been a great operation for us and what we really like about the community is the staff - they are always around so if our loved ones need something, someone is always there to assist. Our mother says the meals are wonderful, but our father being a little picky is not the biggest fan. We had a meal there ourselves and we wouldn't say they are exceptional but it was still good. There are minor improvements that could happen here, but again its been an overall good experience.

Great care
I would say that this is a very good community for you or your loved one. They are very nice at this community and always there for things, every time I go there things are well. They have activities like work out classes, card making, bingo, they also had a lecture where someone came and talked to the community. They also had an ice cream social for the residents to get together.

We never knew she could have it this good.
My mom only wishes she had mad the move sooner! It has enriched her life in so many ways. She's busier than she has been in 20 years. She eats more than she ever did. Her cat loves it there too. The staff are phenomenal. Everybody is really welcoming and have made the transition super easy They keep our family constantly informed on what's going on. It's just perfect!

very cooperative and very willing to be accommodating
The community is very clean, and the staff are really friendly. We cannot really speak to how well the activities are ran because our loved one does not participate but every time we visit there is always something going on. We would recommend the Brookdale Summerfield community to others.

Very Nice
Brookdale Summerfield is a nice place to be. Everyone is nice to be around and they are kind. The food is okay, and there are choices to choose from.
The activities are good as well. for the residents.

I recommend
We chose Brookdale Summerfield because i was more familiar with the location that the facility is in. The apartment sizes are really good. The staff members here are so friendly and helpful, I would give them above a 5 if I could. It is a very nice facility, they have outdoor grounds you can walk around on. I would recommend to others looking.

Brookdale is the best place for a family member
The value of the community is right on par with everyone else, and we did like the facility as a whole and all that they had to offer. There were other staff members and aids on site that assisted with our loved ones care. They were pretty amazing, everything was happening during covid and we were still allowed in the community to see and spend time with our loved one.

A Postive Review
The community has had an Executive Director change and that has been a welcome change. The new director is communicating with families and residents via newsletters and Zoom Calls. This has been twice a week, then moved down to once a week, and now the families said she can go to every other week.
It was hard during the lock down due to residents not able to go to their doctor appointments, this was due to the prior director following corporate policies. The family can now pick up their loved one up and take their loved one to doctor appointments.
The transportation is lacking due to the constraints of the bus leaving once a week.
The families were able to communicate via phone due to COVID.
Our loved one is happy. They community has allowed the residents to go back to being active with activities.

Buyer beware
Don’t be fooled by the very nice sales staff. Do your homework, do your research. Ask lots of questions about the aide staff. A lot of promises get made and do not get kept. Aides are not medically trained. Community layout was nice . The room was good. Food was decent. It is a good place for someone more independent and may not be good for someone who needs more care.

Things to look out for
When we originally moved there, they never made it clear what services were includes in the price. We would have appreciated a price breakdown of services provided so we knew what to expect. The situation between the aides and the facility has been an issue. The aides are contracted in from an outside agency and they don't come when scheduled. We pay for three visits a day and they are not reliable. When they do come, they are friendly and good but since there is such a high turnover, the training isn't good. I would say that our experience with the Brookdale staff has been good. My dad likes his surroundings. They have many activities offered but they also seem to cancel a lot as well. The food seems average taste wise. They send meals to his room if he chooses not to go to the dining room, however, the meals aren't always what he has requested.

The perfect place!
The staff here is great and they care. Actually all of the people that work here make it a point to know the residents by there name. That makes me feel good like they really care about my loved one. The community is bright and well kept. The maintenance man [Removed] is awesome and very helpful. The receptionist is also a joy and pleasure to work with.

Very Pleased With The Place
The woman who helped us was wonderful, she came right out to talk to my loved one and was very, very accommodating. We talked to several residents there and they were very pleased with the place and it seems like they have a lot to do and a lot to offer. One of the things I liked was there were a lot of care services in varying degrees offered there.

Villas at Summerfield… worth visiting and considering for an aging parent!
My mother moved to the Villas at Summerfield. She tells me many of the lunches and dinners are tasty, but some are just fair. We have found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. They do seem to know the clients personally and always refer to them by name. The facility is kept very clean. The furnishings are very attractive, and the wall decorations are also interesting and attractive. It looks quite classy! The individual apartments are cleaned every other week. We have found that the apartment cleaning is not very thorough, however. The bed linens are washed for the clients and the bed is re-made every other week as well, which is a nice feature. You can always add on more services as needed if your parent is less able to care for themselves over time, which is also a nice feature.

The Right Next Step for an Independent Woman
When I started looking for a retirement home for my mother, I was very pleased to find "A Place for Mom." They provided the names of several places that would met Mom's current, as well as future needs. I kept in contact with two places, and when the time came, we decided on the Villas of Summerfield. It was not only in a perfect location, but the facility is very well maintained and "top shelf." The management really worked with us to get my Mom into the perfect size suite for her, and continues to provide personal attention as she transitions into her new home. From her first visit, my Mom was addressed by name and treated as a valued member of the Summerfield community. A former caterer, she was immediately impressed by the set-up of the dining area and quality of cuisine. Although not typically a "joiner," my Mom has become very involved in a wide range of the activities offered. Mom has the benefits of "her own home" within a safer, supported environment. We could not be more pleased with Summerfield.
