We chose Brookdale Nine mile because they first time we met with them they were completely honest and told us it wouldn't be cheap. We talked for an hour before we went on the tour. [name removed] who is the director was very forthright with us and we really appreciated it. He made sure to let us know that she would be able to stay here until end of life. I would recommend them to others.

My mother was placed here and while they started out great, we have moved her. Good staff started leaving and they were very neglectful of residents. They locked them down during covid and instead of isolating the covid patient, they locked the residents in their rooms, didn't shower them and didn't allow much for mental stimulation. The rooms were rarely cleaned by them, if at all. The food was often cold and seemed left over. The things they say they will do on their website isn't accurate. They had industrial size rolls of toilet paper on the backs of their toilets and my mom could not turn around to reach it. We cleaned her room and we brought reasonable toilet paper. They took advantage of our being new to placing someone and charged us the highest price for everything and didn't initially show us the cost breakdown for things. We didn't get the list until just before we moved her. Our complaints went unheard and made us feel like it was our problem to fix, not theirs.

We chose Brookdale Nine Mile because the facility is memory care only, so all of the residents here are memory care. She has a double room and shares with a roommate, but they do have single rooms available as well. The staff is just amazing, my mom calls them all her friends. I would highly recommend them to others looking for dementia care.

We paid between [price removed] to [price removed] per month. The food doesn’t resemble the pictures on their website. We mostly saw lots of oven fried to death chicken strips, yellowed edge iceberg lettuce salads, tater tots, and canned mixed veggies. There is no podiatrist. We ended up caring for mom’s feet ourselves. My mom needed physical therapy. The therapist gave my mom a list of exercises to do. Hello? My mom had dementia. The staff at Brookdale didn’t do her exercises with her. We had to do it. My mom’s toilet never worked properly. For two years, it didn’t flush properly. Her room wasn’t cleaned regularly. We had to complain to get her laundry done. At the end, we found my mom soaked in urine up to her shoulders. Yes, we complained to management, but all we ever got was platitudes. There were never any decisive action plans put in place to remedy our concerns. I blame managements complacency for the issues at Brookdale.

They are very good at what they do. I believe the level of expertise in memory care amazing. The care is very good for the residents and caring for each resident individually. This is what we want for our loved ones.

I would highly recommend this community to others. My loved one received the best care at Brookdale Nine Mile. We couldn't be more pleased with them. We were able to do virtual visits. The side our loved one was on never had any COVID cases. The community would take our loved one out to listen to music for an activity.

At the time we chose Brookdale Nine Mile because of the care that they provided, they were one of the few facilities that is able to provide hoigher lifts. They also had a phenomenal sales pitch, but the bang for the buck is not there. I would want others to know that they are understaffed, the food does not appear to be fresh. we have also had to repeatedly ask for things we should not have to ask for such as toilet paper, clean laundry, etc. When you call to ask a question about your loved one, no one seems to have access to any information. They always say you have every right to feel that way rather than changing anything. Overall, I would not recommend this community.

We chose Brookdale Nine Mile because they sold us an A+ program. Our issue was they did not provide an A+ program. They do a lot of "that should not be happening" but did not solve the issues. They have been very understaffed ever since COVID and they have not been good with communication. Overall, I would not recommend the community.

I had high hopes when I moved my mother into Brookdale and was willing to pay a higher than average price in order to know she was well taken care of. She has been there for a few months now and at first, I was very satisfied. Last weekend, however, when I picked her up for breakfast, she (and her room) smelled very strongly of urine. The back of her jeans were wet above her depends, her sweater had major food droppings on it, and her hair was unwashed. I'm not confident that the care plan I have in place for her is being followed consistently. I have talked with management so assured me that this would be taken care. I am hopeful that is the case. For now, though, I have concerns.

My loved one lived at Brookdale Nine Mile in the dementia care facilty for a few months. We could tell by the third week that the care they were receiving was substandard. My loved one was not getting basic care done like brushing teeth regularly or getting shaved. For the amount of money we were paying (almost $8000 a/mo) it was very frustrating that these basic things were not getting done. We also noticed most of the activities were not really taking place and instead my loved one was just sitting in the TV room sleeping all the time. Finally, when my loved one started to lose weight and get weak we realized the staff were not helping this resident much with eating or staying hydrated. Our choice was to go over there three times a day to feed them and offer liquids or pay $1100.00 extra dollars a month for a one to one feedings. Lots of hidden costs and no fixed rate. At this point we decided to move them out as we feared they would die prematurely. When we came to move the loved one they were so dehydrated that they could not walk, talk or eat so we took them to the ER right away. It was confirmed that our loved one was severely dehydrated. It could have ended in tradegy if we had not been monitoring the situation closely and going there multiple times a day. One would think the more money you pay a month, the better the care, but this did not prove to be true at all. I do not recommend this place to anyone!

My wife was recommended to go there. It was a mistake, all they wanted to do was to see how much they could charge me. My wife came from a weekend in Sacred Heart and they had her on schizo meds, after she arrived they did nothing to change her for the better, all the people that I saw were walking around like zombies. After seeing her the same for 17 days I took her out of there. I saw a specialist and he lowered her dosages and she was fine. I would not recommend this place because of the care. She was there for 17 days and I paid $12,000 for lousy care. We also lost 2 pairs of shoes and a remote control.

My mother is a resident here. For what they have they are providing enough care. I understand if you want someone there 24/7 you have to pay for it. The staff tells me that she is getting involved in activities but she said tells me she doesn't. I have tried the food and it is lousy. The temperature is off and the food doesn't seem to be prepared correctly because it doesn't taste very good. We chose Brookdale Nine Mile because it was the bets place for the budget we have and my father liked it.

This was a nice community to see and I enjoyed the tour. I was able to see all that is to be available for my mom. This is a large community with many people staying here. I thought the value was very pricey. It seems suitable for care.

The staff at Brookdale are nice and seem to know myself and my dad. They are very good with him. He does participate in some of the daily activities and he seems to enjoy himself. The community seems clean. I would recommend this community.

They are doing pretty good so far. I have no major complaints. There was a medication mix up one time, but I think we got that figured out. The care is very good and they care about the residents. We like knowing she is safe and well cared for. She is enjoying it, and the people are friendly.

Response from Brookdale Nine Mile
August 7, 2015Thank you for taking the time to visit and share your feedback! We will share your feedback with our management team.
We recently moved our mother from Montana to Clare Bridge of Spokane. Every one of the staff members has gone out of their way to make mom feel that this is her "home". The kind and compassionate way they deal with the difficult issues of dementia are beyond compare and we have actually seen a few smiles from mom -- the first in many months. We are extremely grateful for the care mom is receiving, the dignified way in which that care is delivered and the individual attention she is receiving.
