If you need care, would not recommend
I believe that if somebody just needs a room and they are more independent, then it is probably a very nice place to live. However, if they need at care at all, (even meals delivered etc.) I would avoid it. For our family, it was a very bad experience.

Not What I Was Hoping For
I would not recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The community told us there would be care items included and they weren't. The housekeeping wasn't provided such as taking the trash out, vacuuming, etc. There was a time that I was visiting and I couldn't find a staff member to assist with a screaming resident. I ended up having to call the night line to get assistance for this resident.
The meals portions were really small for the residents. There was a variety of activities offered to the residents to participate in.

Community Tour
Their marketing person was a very helpful and friendly person. The facility was going through some remodeling, so the space at that time had a very unfinished feel. I saw piles of boxes, plastic sheeting, etc., so it was hard to really get a feel for what it would be like long term. They had a smaller community space for gathering than I saw at other places. But they had an interesting layout with an internal courtyard. So if families are concerned about their loved one wandering beyond a safe space, that could be a good option for them.

We loved Brookdale. The people we have dealt with are amazing and were not too pushy but good with their follow up. We are back to looking for more care for our loved one, and this facility is definitely on our list to visit again!

A very friendly environment and pretty caring
We do think the staff are very friendly, responsive and have been helpful on a number of occasions. What really did it for us was that they offered a specific unit for low to moderate dementia care which just fitted our loved one so perfectly.

My Thoughts
I would recommend you check around to different communities. The community is short staffed.
The food is served cold on paper plates and plasticware. The staff say the residents can warm the food up in the microwave, but is hard for those that can't get up.

A place for mom!
The entire staff team from top to bottom were very good, and the cleanliness of the community improved with the remodeling. We have absolutely no complaints with the community. The head nurse was very helpful, the sales gal was also very good working with our family, and moving our loved one from a one bedroom to a studio. Brookdale is a very good organization to work with, and we had full confidence in their honesty.

my experience
the director of the community was wonderful. There have been a few issues with billing. If you have Kizer insurance don't go here, they had issues with paperwork on more than one occasion. I would not recommend this community to others

I do not have anything against the workers here, and overall it is a good community. However being in a wheel chair I sometimes do not get all the assistance I need, and if I need more assistance they will tack on more fees.

Brookdale during COVID
In my view, a lot of long term care facilities and with our experience at Brookdale Mt. Hood is that COVID should not have gotten in as easy as it did. Half the staff tested positive and they had 10 deaths. They were not compliant with a lot of the rules and that is why it spread so fast. The food is not good either, the meals are having to be delivered and they are sometimes cold and not prepared correctly. We are having to provide her with a lot of food so that she can have a decent meal. I do think that things could have been handled better here.

A Blessing
We had an urgent need to find new living options for my mother. We decided on Brookdale Mt. Hood, and the experience, while short, was excellent. The staff, the manager, the head of nursing went out of their way to help us in any way they could. The people were excellent and very helpful, and the residents were also friendly. They were very good about housekeeping, picking up all the time, and keeping things tidy. The activities there were full of mental stimulation for the residents as well as. I didn’t get a chance to actually eat there, but the food definitely smelled good. We looked at the menu, and mealtimes always seemed full of options. Meals could even be brought up to my mother on the days when she wasn’t able to go downstairs. Overall, our experience at Brookdale was incredible, even though it was short. I’d absolutely recommend this place to others. It was a blessing.

Large, clean community
Brookdale Mt. Hood was a very large, spacious, and clean community that we toured. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We chose another community based on our budget needs.

My Mom Loves The Bible Study
Everything is going very well for my mom. They can most improvement when communicating times and dates for her showers. I am pretty happy with the services. She would like more activities. She likes and was happy with the outings. I picked them because they had an opening and she really liked that they have bible study and church on Sunday. The service is with the same pastor and he visits the residents too.

Comfort for my mom
I like the care from this community. The staff is caring and helpful in keeping me informed on her progress. I like that the community is clean and maintained. I like knowing that she seems to be happy with the menu of the meals. They do offer activiites for the residents who can participate. We have recommended this community for the care and the value of a loved one.

I toured this community for the care for my mom. The staff are nice and did answer my questions on the care that is given. the menu was nice and the variety seemed appealing. They had a nice list of activities and the residents seemed to be active.We needed a different type of care at the time we toured the community. We liked this community and would recommend the community to other families.

I toured this community for care for a loved one. The staff was very nice and helpful. They offer a good menu and activities are good. They do try and help when all needs. I was not able to get into this community at this time but would recommend it to other families for the assistance that is needed for a loved one.

A nice place
This was a nice community. We were needing a community right away and the staff went and made room for my aunt for us on a minutes notice. This community is clean and well taken care of. The meals are appealing. They do offere activities here for participation. I suggest that other families visit this community to see if this is a good option for there loved one's care.
