Brookdale Inver Grove Heights is understaffed and The Director is not always available for questions. There's no nurse on staff (all the time) to answer questions regarding prescriptions, like what is my loved one taking, etc.. The doctor is usually not there either, I don't know when the doctor comes in. I would describe their communication as poor because I never hear from them. When I ask questions they never get back to me. When I can find them, I have to keep pressuring them and asking the same questions. I haven't had the time to call them, but it would be nice if they were there. Brookdale needs additional staff and a nurse on duty during the day. I would also like to receive feedback from the nurse and more thorough explanations of what she reports back to me.

Response from Brookdale Inver Grove Heights
September 1, 2022Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We will share your feedback with our management team.
We have had terrible communication from them. All the good staff have been fired and there has been a ton of turnover. They have 2 buildings and they only have 2 people on staff for both buildings over night, so they are severely understaffed. They don't try to incorporate activities for those who are less able. Overall we have been very disappointed in our experience and I would not recommend them to others.

Response from Brookdale Inver Grove Heights
August 29, 2022We take your comments seriously and are committed to providing quality care and services to our residents and their families. We will share your feedback with our management team.
I thought they were really friendly and seem to know what they're doing. I haven't had any trouble of any kind with them. I think the cost is pretty good as well. The only issue has been with my loved one, who has been uncooperative the whole time. If anything, Brookdale staff were almost too nice when she seems to benefit from more firm suggestions. But it's getting better, on both sides. And overall Brookdale has been pretty good. I would recommend them to other people.

It only took mom 2 weeks to call Brookdale Inver Grove Heights home and she loved it here. It is a smaller setting and she clicked right away with the other residents. Sometimes I did not think the girls had the proper training, but other than that they gave her great care. They really took their time with her and showed a lot of compassion. It was the perfect place for mom to spend her last days and we would recommend them to others.

The tour was nice but I thought the facility was too small and just would not be the right fit for my mom.
My mom has been at Brookdale Inver Grove Heights for about six months. We are pleased that we found this comfy, homey place—my mom made up her mind about it on the first visit! It was scary for her to think about moving from her home, but the friendly, accommodating atmosphere and personnel at BIGH helped to eliminate her fears. The director and head of nursing are experienced and knowledgeable and provide really quick response whenever any questions or needs arise. The personal attention is very appreciated. The common areas and outdoor patio feel like home. It's in a nice neighborhood and easy to visit. I think the number one thing about BIGH is how much they care that my mom is healthy, happy, and has what she needs. They listen patiently to her requests (and mine). I think they handled the Covid situation very well. I recommend it.

My father, who will be 99 soon, has been at Brookdale IGH for a little over a year. When we first decided on Assisted Living, he needed 24-hour full care. He did not need a "resort". Ideally we all wanted a nice, cozy, home-like place with attentive care. Brookdale IGH provides that. The attentive care is best of all. The care staff responds within minutes of a call for help. That is hard to get consistently at a large facility. The facility is definitely "homey". It is basically a big house with private rooms for the residents, a TV-Game-Social Room, a fireplace reading room, a dining & activity room with kitchen and a nice back yard patio,. The daily fresh made meal menu is flexible. Want something different, just ask. The exercise & activity periods are always looked forward to by my dad. The staff is warm, friendly and there for your assistance and care when you need them. If your loved one needs a more personal level of assistance and care, I recommend Brookdale IGH.

My father has been a resident at Brookdale Inver Grove for 3 years now. Their staff does an exceptional job with his care. He always talks about how great the home cooked meals are and the social activities that allow him to connect with the other residents. My father calls Brookdale Inver Grove his home and we couldn’t ask for anything more.

This is a small, full care community with a totally dedicated staff. It is not a resort. It is a comfortable home environment. The service to their residents is great and the food is fresh and great.

I have a friend who is a resident at Brookdale Senior Living facility in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. I am a frequent visitor and would like others to know how wonderful this place is. It is small but is comfortable and homey. The staff takes a personal interest in each of the residents. The food is good and nutritious. I have eaten with the residents and have enjoyed my meal very much. I know the care given to my friend is given with love and understanding. I know many times the staff has taken the time to talk to my friend and help her make the adjustment from her own place to this new home. The patience and care have been amazing. I would recommend this facility to anyone looking for a nice place for a loved one. Thank you. [name removed]

This feels like a great place for my mom, who needs a lot of care. It's small, with about 20 rooms (private studio bedroom and bath), and all one level. Everyone I talked with was very nice. The price was reasonable and in line with other places I toured. They invited me to share a meal, so I'm looking forward to stopping in again to meet some of the residents.

I was unsuccessful in getting my mother in law moved to Brookdale in Inver Grove Heights, however, I have nothing but praise for their people and facility. I dropped in there frequently during the month I was attempting to get her to move from Indianna to Mn. The staff, all of them , were so helpful and friendly. The residents were engaged in activities and also talkative. I have to say the meals smelled great and my adult son on leaving after looking at the facility said" Boy, grandma is really missing out , everybody in there is sitting down for lunch and laughing and talking and the food looks good too!" Penny and Lyndsay were very patient with me listening to all my travails and offering so much support. I have not altogether given up on getting her up here to be with her only family; trying to be proactive did not work so now we wait for something to happen to force a move. Hopefully the facility will have room for her when that happens.

Huge entry fee to get my mother-in-law moved in. Her room was dirty and wasn't even cleaned before she moved in. When they do clean, it is not very thorough at all. I feel all the things promised and signed for on the paperwork are not happening. We pay extra for transportation services and they were not transporting her down to the dining room or the activity room. She went two weeks without a shower because they hadn't put her on the shower schedule. I think they're short staffed. I like the people there, they are nice. There's simple activities, not too impressed. I'm not impressed with the food, it's not good quality food.

My mother was only in Brookdale's care for 6 days. First in the initial evaluation with mom, they should have reviewed that with the family because in mom's condition, some of her answers were untrue. They did not do this. Next, in the middle of the night mom fell, breaking 4 ribs and puncturing her lung. Later the next morning she told people she was hurting and no one believed her. Because in her state of mind, she thought she was outside when she fell. When she went to her room, she took off her clothes thinking the pain would get better. Three aids forced mom to get dressed while she was screaming in pain. After calling me and I had to tell them to call an ambulance, they did. I refused to bring mom back to that location! After paying one month rent to walk in the door, a month "free" rent, and a 30-day notice to vacate; plus extra fees that they attach every time they entered her room - the expense was horrible! I had to fight for 3 months to get a corrected itemized invoice.

I loved Brookdale. I loved how they seemed to care for the residents as individuals and that it was small and all one level. The only snag is it’s totally out of our price range. There’s no way we could afford to send mom here.

Brookdale Inver Grove Heights is going well. Dad was very hesitant going in and now he likes to talk to everybody. He keeps to himself a lot still but he's like a new dad. I'm really liking it at this facility.

So far so good at Brookdale Inver Grove Heights. They were very flexible when we thought we had a move in date and then she got sick. My mother did tell me that over the weekend she heard 5 staff members were leaving but my mother has dementia so I am not sure how much of it is true. That's the only thing that kind of took me by surprise but again I am not sure how much is correct. Overall things are going good so far.
