About the community

Find a Life Lived Well

As one of the pioneers of true specialized memory care over 25 years ago, we've learned how to craft stable, predictable schedules that allow seniors with cognitive challenges to thrive.

Our community provides compassionate assistance to seniors with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. Our community is designed and staffed with their unique needs in mind. Even the building is physically designed to reduce agitation and stress:
Circular paths allow for wandering without becoming lost or disoriented
Paths all lead to individual small activity areas
Each person has a memory box outside their door so that they more easily recognize their room
Outdoor courtyards are fully enclosed
Exterior doors are alarmed?

All of these features mean that you and your loved one can live with the peace of mind knowing that they're safe. And with emergency care responders on-site 24/7, you can be comfortable knowing that whenever they need us, we'll be there.

Because we are designed from the ground up for just one kind of care, our staff is specially trained in dementia management, with each staff member receiving ongoing training in new approaches and techniques in caring for our residents....

Very friendly staff and director was very personable. Nice facility! I liked the private room but the shared room was as very hospital like. I didn't like that clients had to go out of the room for a shower. We witnessed a couple of situations which were easily diffused and kindly dealt with.

Why won't they answere the door?

The facility is nice, the people that work there seem to care but I have a complaint. When you go to visit a loved one at or around 6 pm there is no one to answer the door. I have waited over 18 minutes with no help getting in and when the visit is over it is hard to find a care giver to let you out of the facility. I think they are under staffed and it is the one thing that I dislike about Brookdale. This has happened many times and it is not acceptable. With the high rates they charge it would seem they could have a person available to respond to patients loved ones.

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING BROOKDALE BEAVERTON:

I recognize that when a family is facing the reality of needing residential Alzheimer & Dementia care, there is a lot of emotion and concern surrounding this decision. We didn’t “want” this, and it is overwhelming when you realize it is time to make this choice. We moved my aunt from another Brookdale community where she had lived in assisted living for 7 years. I wont go into specifics on that facility, but I will tell you that we were very unhappy with the lack of care for her there and were hesitant, if not almost totally resistant to continuing to have her in the Brookdale network. However, Brookdale Beaverton has turned out to be an exceptional facility for us. The routine that has been established for residents keeps the day moving, the facility is clean, the communication is clear, the dedicated staff is wonderful. And its furnished beautifully. We randomly drop by to visit, and have seen that it is consistent in its care. I appreciate the fact that the staff tries different ways to engage my aunt, who is non-verbal, and they dance and sing with her. They animate expression to her, and help her get through her day. She has a rare form of dementia, and I can say that she can often be a difficult person to care for. I have witnessed the staff members placed in very hard positions where she becomes defiant, even combative at times, and they handle these instances carefully and professionally. We are so grateful to the staff at Brookdale Beaverton for all of the efforts that they make on behalf of their residents and how they assess individual care. There are some basics that families need to accept when understanding these kind of environments. Things will go missing, because people “shop” around. Things disappear, things return. Thats how it goes. Not all the residents will like each other, and they are all in different states of being, while in the same location. It makes it interesting to witness, and I think the staff is absolutely amazing at being able to manage all of these different personalities and realities. Although we wish in our hearts that we could make my aunts condition improve, she is in a decline from which she will not recover. We are very comforted by the care she is receiving, and know that she feels safe and at home there. Thank you to all the staff, from the people cooking and cleaning, the care taking staff, activity directors, med desk, nurses, visiting doctors, and administrators. You have really made us feel like we are in the right place with you all. We don’t worry constantly. You let us know how she is doing, and offer suggestions for support. You are the voice for her that she does not have, and we could not be more grateful for the care you are providing for her. THANK YOU.
