My tour review

This was a very nice community but they felt that they would not be able to care for my loved one.

It's Like Living in Your Own Apartment With People Your Own Age

The community has a schedule of activities for the residents. The common areas are very clean. We would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. In fact we would live there if we could.

My Review of Brookdale Bayshore

It would be a maybe community, due to the expense of the community. The food seems to be bland for residents and sometimes it is good. Some of the activities include chats with other residents, bingo, and other activities for the residents to choose from.

Feels like an all inclusive resort, but offers even more

I absolutely loved it here at Brookdale Bayshore. I was in surgery and the staff actually came to the hospital and were with me. Once I got out of the hospital, the chef came up and asked what I needed. They were all very helpful and accommodating. I was in a single room and it overlooked the bay, tennis court, and the swimming pool. I also had a kitchen. They had tons of activities here. Families are welcome and many residents have their family with them everyday. For meals, you have a choice of 3 entrees which made you feel like you were at a restaurant. The food was delicious. During dinner they also give you choices for wine. We also have a cocktail hour everyday with different types of cocktails. You are able to have pets here. You get assigned a personal shopper and if you want to go with them you can, but they go to stores and get things that you need. I would absolutely recommend, I would go down here for a vacation.

Happy with our expertience

We chose Brookdale Bayshore because of the location, it was close to the family as well as it was on the water and had great views. It was a nice open area. The room sizes are acceptable. The food here is chef prepared and you have a full menu to order from. I would recommend. They did have a turnover in management while we were moving in as well as when we were moving people out. We were here less than a year.

Money hungry

When we first saw this community is was very clean, its absolutely gorgeous, its very beautiful but very very expensive. We paid all of our fees, and when we when to go move our loved one into her room it was no where near finished. There was no pain on the walls, there was no flooring. It easily had three weeks of work to finish it. They offered to move our loved one into a new room which was more independent living, which was on the 12th floor. We shelled out thousands of dollars to this community, but unfortunately our loved one had passed and never even made it one day at this community. When we came to move out her furniture, the elevator was broken, we were told we could leave the furniture there until the elevator was fixed so we didn't have to carry it down 12 floors, but we never got a call, we got a bill for not coming to get her furniture after she passed. Other than the money issues the people who worked there were nice, but only because they knew they were getting our money. They had good care services, but you needed extra help like help with you laundry you had to pay extra. So it was almost like ale cart care services

Brookdale Bayshore August 2020

They have exercises for the residences, book clubs, they even have a cocktail hour. On special occasions they will give the residences small gifts. They do have a swimming pool but it isn't open at the moment. The food right now is being delivered to our rooms due to COVID, but under the circumstances it is okay. The rooms are pretty spacious, we have a two bedroom. This community has a variety of rooms to choose from.

DO NOT PUT LOVED ONES HERE

I am begging whoever reads this review to NEVER send their family members to Brookdale Bayshore. When my family first reached out to Brookdale to help us with our elderly family member, we spoke to Health and Wellness Director [name removed]. She explained that Brookdale Bayshore was a ‘semi-skilled’ nursing facility and told us everything we wanted to hear. [Name removed] also informed us that the facility offers support for all activities of daily living. THIS IS A LIE. THIS FACILITY HAS NO SEMI SKILLED OR SKILLED NURSING. THEY OFFER 0% HELP FOR FUNCTIONAL DAILY LIVING. Brookdale Bayshore offers absolutely no ethical care for patients and lacks the appropriate resources to provide quality care. It seems that Brookdale Bayshore’s last priority is Improving their patient’s quality of life.

Terrible Care

My mother in law has been living here since 2015. This place is a revolving door for staff, nursing director and executive director. They are chronically understaffed. Unresponsive to phone calls. Despite many many meetings and paying for the highest level of care, there is constant pushback to provide even the most basic of the services we pay for. It has been a nightmare and we are in the process of moving her.

Very Friendly Community

Our family has been happy with Mom's stay at Brookdale Bayshore. Her efficiency room is stylish and easy to maneuver with the walker. We love looking at Tampa Bay out the wall to wall windows. The staff is super friendly as well as meeting our needs. There are numerous activities scheduled each day. the dining hall has a restaurant style menu with several options at meals. this is a nice home and Mom is happy here.

Terrible experience

Was invited as a vender to their health fair on 6/1612017. There was no parking then the receptionist told me I was not assigned a table. Another vender stated she was moved around. Very disorganized! I got to talk to several residents who are not happy there. They complained about the elevators always breaking down, lost laundry, waiting sometimes up to an hour for help after requesting it (including a fall and toileting),, bus always late, and bad food. Sounded like their lives are like my experience there. Terrible!!

Touring Of The Community Was Good

We made an appointment to get a tour of the community and they were on time and ready to go. I saw a clean community and the staff gave us helpful information during the tour. The staff were very nice and helpful. Later we were offered to come back for lunch.

Stay away from Brookdale

Stay away from Brookdale. Instead of having round tables for residents to eat together, there are tables where lonely residents sit by themselves. Sad. Blood pressure can be high and the nurses do not follow up with doctors or additional blood pressure readings. Nurses do not question unnecessary medications on the chart that should have been discontinued. Linoleum in room and bathroom rolling up and maintenance does nothing after complaining. Resident with a dog that is chewing all of it's hair off and they do nothing about the poor animal. Elevators have stopped and kept residents for 2 hours stuck. 300 residents have long waiting time for 2 small elevators for 12 floors. Air conditioners have problems with cooling the resident rooms and common areas along with hot elevators. Meals are not homemade and are processed junk from US Food group. Minimum activities to keep the residents happy such as outings outside the facility. Boredom for the residents. Better facilities with more attentive care elsewhere. Good luck!

We like it. She is very happy there.

We like it. She is very happy there. It's still a pretty new experience, but so far she has had no complaints. It's clean, they are very helpful. Management could maybe do a bit better, the administrative side of things but other than that it's good. They come and clean her room and change her bedding and things once a week, and so far it seems to be going pretty well.

For the Most Part A Good Experience at This Community

This community is working out pretty well for my mother. They are caring for her and her needs very well. This is a well maintained community. They do a good job with the cleanliness of the facility. It has been a positive experience with the staff for the most part. They have nice activities offered for the residents. The meals are healthy and pretty good. I know she is safe and in good hands. I would recommend this community.

Attentive Staff!!

My mother has had nothing but great things to say about the staff and the care she has been receiving from them. The housekeeping team has been also very attentive to my mothers bedroom as well as the rest of the facility on making sure it stays clean and well maintained. She also has had no complaints about the food and has really been enjoying the company of the other residents.

The Tour Went Fine

Our guide was great using her salesmanship, she told us about all the activities, discounts, payments, and followed up later. I did not like the set up of the place. My mom would have to take an elevator and there are no tracking of residents. My mom needs assistance to not get lost. I also did not like the mixed level of cares like independent living, assisted living and nursing. It was not a fit for my mom.

Nice place, overall

Our experience with Brookdale Bayshore has been a very good one! The lady who helped us through the move-in process, Renee, did an outstanding job! The facility itself is well kept and clean inside, and the care and maintenance staff do a great job. The food is also decent! It's a nice place overall, and I would recommend them.
