Overall experience - Again...always room to improve but overall, Mom is very happy there so we seem to have made a good choice. Cleanliness - There are some opportunities but overall, pretty nice. Friendliness of staff - I have enjoyed everyone I have encountered and they try hard to help. Quality of care - Mom is still independent living so isn't much but she appreciates the help with cleaning, etc and the fitness and PT help. Meals/Dining. She enjoys some meals and others not as much but they do offer a standing alternative menu if the prepared meals don't meet your palette. The building is nice and is clean, however when maintenance is needed it takes weeks to get resolved. The food is sometimes good, but many times unsatisfactory. They are understaffed. My dad was having to take a shower at 7:30 at night when he is tired and getting ready for bed. Not a good time. They are fairly new and are just beginning to fill up to the point where they are breaking even financially. The nurse quit last month which makes us very uncomfortable right now.

Our family had an in person tour with Broadwell Senior Living and this was not the community for our loved one, but the overall tour experience and community was really nice!
Residents were very friendly and helpful and moving in was very easy with the assistance of the maintenance supervisor.

We have had no issues with the staff at Broadwell Senior Living. They are very caring for my Mom. My Mom has a bit of incontinence, they do a great job making sure that everything is sanitized and clean. The move in process was very smooth, they had carts and dollies available for us. The meals are very balanced. Most of the time, my Mom will be a "clean plater ". She says that the food is good, but too much! I would highly recommend Broadwell Senior Living to others.

The friendliness of the administrative staff is a 5, and a few months ago the quality of care was a 2 but now it is a 5. I brought my husband as this place was just opening. It was rough with the Accounting guy and the nurse. The 2nd nurse was very difficult to access, the current business manager and nurse are friendly and great allies. All Admin now are very capable and caring! The staff at first was amazing but as they got busy the help got worse; sleeping, lots of time on phone and socializing loudly with each other neglecting clients. Now there is an expert for nursing and staff improvement. Activities spend time in Memory care bringing music, activities, snack, and some one on one time. The food started off great, fresh sautéed veggies with herbs, very balanced. The cook is a prideful hot head who ignores 60% of requests. Meals are very starch heavy and over salted. Many meals are served on Styrofoam. Broadwell has been thru some rough patches but it was still a good move to bring him up here.

What we like the most about the Broadwell Senior Living community is the friendliness of the staff. Where we think they could improve on would be having more attentiveness to the residents and their needs.

The Memory Care staff is terrible. We are looking to move our loved one as soon as possible. Management only pays lip service to the issues with staff sitting on their phones while patients go unattended.

They have well educated staff, and are very welcoming. They offer; Trips to stores, doctors appointments, Casinos, and the Movies. They also have cards, and happy hours. I would recommend to others.

This is a very new community and they are trying to still get onboard. The internal communication with the staff could use improvement. The staff communication with the family was not good, as there were delayed responses to communication or requests from the family. There are three meals a day served to the residents. Some of the care offered includes medication management, dressing, bathing assistance, and hygiene care. It appeared the community could use more staff and training to assist with the care of the residents.

My loved one likes the food. They offer a lot of activites. The value for the money is good. We picked this community, because of the immediate avalability. I would recommend to other families.

From the residents point of view, the aids are brutal, mean, and demoralizing. That has been the biggest issue. The management are all friendly but they are very hard to get a hold of and do not call you back when you reach out. The director we first started with got us in here but then moved on to another facility. Overall it has been a very bad experience and we would not recommend Broadwell Senior Living to others looking.

Response from Broadwell Senior Living
December 14, 2022Richard, thank you for taking the time to write a review for Broadwell Senior Living. We appreciate your feedback, and it is encouraging to see the staff rating at a 5. I do, however, want to learn more specifically about your nursing concerns and I will follow up with you directly. Sincerely the team at Broadwell Senior Living.
The staff could be better at improving their communication with us and do better and keeping us up to date with what is going on. Also since we have been there they have had quite a few staff members leave so they are experience some turnover

Response from Broadwell Senior Living
October 20, 2022Hello! Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate the feedback! There have been some staffing changes in the facility, which some change is good! We have a great team and the staff and residents are happy and excited for our growth potential because of these changes! Please let us know what kind of communication you are looking for. We are more than willing to share anything we are able to. Thanks again!
The facility is beautiful. There has been no activities director for 3 months. Most of the good staff is leaving, including the director.

October 20, 2022Thank you for your review. I understand your concerns, change is not always easy. Although, since early September we have had a full management team and they all have many years of experience. Residents have noticed a change in the atmosphere and have voiced their appreciation for the positive environment! It was almost a month (8/22-9/12/22) that we didn't have a Life Enrichment (Activities) Coordinator, and the team did accomplish to have most of the in-house activities still take place. We now have a wonderful and dedicated Life Enrichment Coordinator and attendance at activities is increasing! Please come see me if you have any concerns. I am here to help! Thank you!
The food is delivered to my loved one is Styrofoam containers and it arrives cold, so my loved one doesn't care for the food. They do have an alternative menu for the residents to order off of, in case they don't like what is being served. There is a staff member that my loved one really enjoys to work with. There is also a woman who was cleaning during my visit to see my loved one and this staff member was very bubbly and helpful. I think this is a good place overall. My loved one is receiving some physical therapy, medication management, bathing assistance and more as some of the care types available.
Response from Broadwell Senior Living
October 20, 2022Hi, and thank you for the review! We do have some great staff at Broadwell that are very passionate and really care about our residents! Our hope is to have everyone happy and healthy by providing the best possible care. If you have any concerns at any time, please come see me. Also, every resident is invited to come to the dining room or pick up their food to-go as well. If the resident is sick and in need of delivery, please come see me so I know what to look for during the deliveries to ensure the meals are delivered timely so they are warm like they should be. Thank you so much!
Experience, very frustrating, wellness director is hard to get ahold of and doesn't respond to message requests. Office staff cant answer basic questions. Newly hired nurse is very receptive and helpful she gets a 5

We moved my grandmother into Broadwell when it was brand new; we loved the physical space - so light and open, and made allowances for it being new (no activities initially, still hiring staff, etc.), but during the several months she lived there, the care actually got worse. Many of the initial staff left over the course of those months, not only aides but many of the directors. My grandma has dementia and staff were supposed to be helping with dressing, bathing and escorting. We were paying for these services but they were not being consistently done. By the end of my grandma's residence staff were not escorting her to any meals; instead another resident who also has memory problems would come to walk down with her. Staff were very slow to respond to inquiries - taking days to reply to calls or emails, sometimes not responding at all. There was no cleaning staff and the cleaning done being done by the aides was minimal. After the culinary director left my grandma was hardly eating. We moved her to a new assisted living community and both her improvement and the improvement in the level of care at her new community has been amazing. If your loved one needs any type of assistance I strongly recommend looking for a different community.

Broadwell should follow the golden rule. Treat others how you want to be treated.
Everything was fine at Broadwell Senior Living. The only complaint we had is the RN, [name removed], was not very personable with the patients and our family. She stepped in at the end when our loved one was passing away; but in the 2 weeks we were there she didn't really talk to him or communicate with him - even during the intake process. It was kind of odd, and I'm unsure if they're used to taking in patients who were at his stage of life. When the hospice nurse came in, [name removed] (the RN), was very hostile during that time. Our loved one wasn't able to interact much, but it was still very frustrating.

A Place for Mom has scored Broadwell Senior Living 7.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
