Overall, the place is safe, clean, and pleasant. For me, it just didn't work. I never get any feedback. As one of the more expensive places, I was hoping for this. They never take the memory care residents out, except the patio (Another location takes them out). I was told that the staff had the ability to get residents out of their room. My brother won't come out. My brother doesn't join the activities. They don't alter the TV shows, activities to help him socialize. After a conversation about this, I was told that someone could walk my brother around. That never happened. The center might be great for someone who is not as active as my brother.

Response from Belmont Village Oak Park
February 21, 2023We appreciate your feedback. If you have any specific concerns you wish to discuss, please reach out to our Executive Director.
Staff were not friendly and they are short staffed, I do not see the aids on the floor. The food went downhill so much my loved one does not want to even eat here anymore. Others need to know that this facility is not what you think it is. They put on one face, but when they are dealing with anyone with progressive dementia, they do not know how to deal with it. They are not good with communication at all with the families either.

Response from Belmont Village Oak Park
February 21, 2023We’re sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction. Providing quality care for our residents and a positive experience for our family members is important to us. We shared your concerns with the Executive Director. We encourage you to reach out to her as concerns arise that that she can address them promptly.
The residents and the overall transitional hospitality of the staff was REALLY good. A lot of people are coming into this situation blind and they were a huge help. They do a great job of not babying the residents who do not want to move. They really cater to the families and respect the residents at the same time during this period of time. They have a type of transitional program where you can come stay for 1-3 months and see if it is the right fit and we really like that aspect. From what I have heard when people do this, a lot of the individuals end up just wanting to stay there. They are very transparent about pricing and the different levels of care that are offered and we appreciate that. Residents can age in place, so you do not have to worry about moving them again if their care increases. The facility is very homey and does not feel institutional - I do not have to worry about her anymore and she does not feel insecure about being here. She made friends right away as well. They have wine and cheese days on Wednesdays and they bring in live entertainment - the activities are just great. I would absolutely recommend Belmont Village Oak Park to others looking.

Response from Belmont Village Oak Park
November 29, 2022Thanks for your in-depth review and recommendation, and we’re happy to hear your loved one is enjoying her new home. We’re always striving to create a positive and comfortable community with varied activities and best-in-class amenities. Feel free to contact our Executive Director if you ever have any questions or concerns.
Belmont Village has good staff and is a good, secure, healthy place for your family member to be in. The care is good, although there is some red tape for certain things they don't do in-house, like wound care. The food is good. It's like you're eating at a 5-star hotel. They do a good job keeping everyone busy with activities, especially during the day, with more easygoing things planned during the evenings. And the cost is within range of other places in the area.

November 29, 2022Thank you for your kind words. We take pride in providing the highest level of care possible for our residents, which means daily chef-prepared meals and a variety of activities and amenities. Feel free to reach out to our Executive Director if you have any questions.
If you are looking for a community, you can feel comfortable in placing your loved one here. The cheerfulness and compassion of the staff stand out to me, along with the way the family is treated. The communication with the staff is good. There are three meals a day served in the dining and there are options for the residents to choose from.

We’re always striving to create a positive and comfortable environment for all our valued residents. Feel free to contact our Executive Director if you ever have any questions or concerns.
I would recommend you go and visit the community for yourself. This is a great place for your loved one to be. The staff are very friendly. The community is extremely clean from top to bottom. The meals are excellent. There are three meals a day and snacks served twice a day. The check in and check out process was beautiful during the short stay, prior to my loved one becoming a fulltime resident of the community.

Thank you for such positive feedback on our Oak Park community. Our family had an in person tour and it was a great experience but it was just to far away.
Belmont Village was a beautiful facility. They invited us to come for a day visit and we got to eat a meal there in their restaurant. The only reason we did not choose this facility was because they did not take medicaid and were privately owned, so it was going to be too expensive, but it was very enticing.
The staff is very involved, friendly and the communication between the staff and the families is good. They well us vell informed with newsletters and they quick to return calls. I would recommend this community to others

My ratings are based on the Memory Care Unit. I think it is a great place. I really liked the general community, and thought it was great option. Memory Care is pretty good, but there were a few instances that tainted our experience.

I have been hesitant to write this review for some time. probably out of respect for some of the more dedicated and compassionate staff that work at Belmont. I have lived in Oak Park for many years and I am shocked by what continues to happen. I had a loved one and still have ones I care deeply for, who live and work at Belmont. I am very disappointed with the care that the residents have been receiving at Belmont village in Oak Park. There are staff who are EMOTIONALLY ABUSIVE towards the residents, and probably physically. This overlooking and negligence goes all the way up to management, primarily an individual who oversees the nursing department who has a very nasty attitude. I have also heard very nasty stories and interactions between management staff and Pals who regularly call residents degrading and nasty names. They poke fun and embarrass the residents in front of their peers. When these instances are brought up staff lie or make it difficult for said individuals. I implore someone to look into the residents mainly those who are on locked units. If someone recorded what was going on there many people would be fired. These individuals can not speak for themselves and can't even defend themselves.

My [Name removed] was there three months. He was 92 yrs old and all who cared for [Name removed] treated him as if he was their dad, grandpa or husband. They could not have been more attentive or loving. I am so grateful he was there. I felt at home also. I was kept informed about his care and felt welcomed at all times. Thank you to all who were there for us. [Name removed]

The worse my parent gets, the less care they take of her. A few caretakers are stellar but many are not patient. attentive, or kind. She has broken bones here, needed stitches and often has dirty hair, How devastating it will be to have to move her at this time. Start somewhere better!

Response from Belmont Village Oak Park
April 28, 2017We’re very sorry that you feel your mom has not received a consistently high standard of care. We always strive to provide the best possible care and input from family is an important factor in helping us do so. Please reach out to your executive director so that she can schedule a care meeting with you, the director of resident care services and the regional director of operations to address your specific concerns going forward and ensure that your mom receives the best possible care.
My mom has been at Belmont Village for 5 years. They've been wonderful years for her & for me. Not only is Belmont a great facility, it has done the most important thing of all - taken the stress of worrying about my dear, sweet Mom off my mind & heart. My mother has Alzheimer's. She is in an advanced state but in good health & spirit. I live in another state so I am not able to see her as much as I would like to. The staff at Belmont keeps me abreast of her life there, good & bad. It's like having a professional family working w/you to cover all the needs of your loved one. I'm notified of Moms appts., physical therapy, personal needs & even her moods. The staff keeps a close eye out for anything "different" that may need the assistance of a nurse or a doctor. Any doctor appts., a PAL (staff member) goes w/ Mom to make sure she's safe & also to keep her company. The relationship between Mom & the PALS is of utmost importance. Mama is accustomed to their faces & kindness. She trusts & enjoys them even tho she may not always "mind" them. The residents are not forced to do anything, just gently guided w/patience next to Godliness. Speaking of guidance, there is so much activity going on at Belmont, believe your loved one will be kept alert & on their toes. They hear the news, (via the PALS), the date, see movies, exercise & are constantly having celebrations from birthdays to holidays. The nurse administers meds on a schedule as dictated by your doctor. And any changes or questionable physical conditions will be reported to you by the Belmont Village nurse. They keep a sharp eye out on my mom as she can't communicate aches, pains, etc. because of her Alzheimer's. I've grown to appreciate them more than I could ever convey. The residence itself is beautiful. I'm happy to know my mom is walking around surrounded by windows, plants, pictures, comfy chairs & couches with music playing. By the way, the residences are always welcomed to sing along & they sure do. When I'm in for a visit, I attend the parties & sing along too! It's fun & easy to see the residents are enjoying themselves. My mom is always well groomed & she gets mani/pedis at the beauty salon right on the premises. I speak to her often as there is a phone on her floor that I can call anytime of the day or night. Hearing Moms voice & her hearing mine as often as I want is a blessing. Every once in a while, she'll ask me to call back later as she's having so much fun involved in some activity or other she "can't talk". Yes, I did say she is in an advanced state of Alzheimer's. The staff at Belmont have provided her such excellent care, she does quite a few things that are pleasantly surprising. I can honestly say she is thriving! I can't leave out a little something that EVERYBODY comments on & likes - the food!! The food!! The food!! Any special diet requirements are strictly monitored but never the less the food manages to stay yummy. I don't know how Belmont does it but my Mom, who LOVES the food, is still in good shape! I'd be bigger than a snow person if it was me but that's also a testament to the professionals in the kitchen. The cooking & menus are balanced & healthy! Lots of smiling tummies at meal time. Sounds like a little piece of heaven on earth, right? Well, it is. Watching our loved ones age is a tough reality. Do yourself a favor & house them somewhere they'll be happy, carefully monitored, well feed, kept busy having fun & loved. Yes, I said loved! The peace of mind you receive will be priceless. I am lucky to have found Belmont Village and I am grateful to have my Mommie reside there.

March 24, 2017Thank you for choosing Belmont Village and for sharing your experience. It's our privilege to serve your mother and we appreciate you letting us be a part of your family. Input from residents and families is an integral part of our ongoing care so we encourage you to continue to regularly share your thoughts and concerns with your community team.
My mother stayed here for two weeks for respite. It was a positive experience. They offered quality care, the community is clean and she enjoyed the meals. They had musicians come in during her stay as well. Overall I would recommend them.
