Unbelievable heartbreak caused by facility

Arden courts of Parma, and the director of visitations [name removed’s] inability to cope with a simple mistake. [Name removed] has suspended a man who has taken care of his mother with dementia for 4 years over a video that accidentally showed another resident for a brief moment when this man was filming him and his mother chatting about their days. Immediately after the man realized the mistake he removed the video from his account within the day of it being posted, yet [name removed] has upheld this suspension. [Name removed] gave ZERO warning and ZERO chances for the man to come back and see his mother, a meeting was held and the man had left respectively and kindly out of differing opinions, however [name removed] was adamant that because the man left the meeting his suspension will be upheld because he’s a “loose link” or something like that came out of a director of visitations mouth. This is by far the most unprofessional behavior I’ve seen in any field of health care.

Don’t send loved ones here

They won’t allow a son, who has been taking care of their mom for 4 years; see her. What a joke of a place. Let [name removed] see his mom!

We saw immediate improvement

Arden Courts of Parma has exceeded our expectations in every aspect. We saw immediate improvements in our mother’s general well-being. The staff is exceptional. Every interaction we have had with staff members, from caregivers to administrators to healthcare specialists to kitchen workers has been infused with their genuine care for our mother and for us. We could not be happier.

a good place for memory care

Their facility is more for memory care, so if they are independent it's not the best place. They had a dog at the facility for the residence and the rooms were small with a shared bathroom. If you need memory care I would recommend this community. I would have liked to see more physical activities for the residence.

Good Communication

They communicate very well. The residents seem to be well cared and happy. The rooms are a little small. The food is good, they have a good variety. I like the layout of the community they have four wings and a secured outdoor area with a walking path.

Our sincerest & deepest appreciation to the staff at Arden Courts of Parma. They were a team of angels who took care of our Dad for 18 months. Very professional and caring, providing the respect he so deeply deserved.

Excellent Community for All.

I began visiting the residents...after being “adopted” by a few of them. Every week, we find things to do or talk about. There’s laughter, activities & a wonderful staff who knows and understands every person here. The leadership & team at ArdenCourts do a wonderful job of helping & celebrating the lives of their special residents as well as their families.

Perfect memory care facility for loved ones

My dad has been at Arden for both short term and long term care (several years ago for a period of 18 months and again recently for a short term period of about 3 months). The staff there is incredible and many are very tenured! Some even had remembered caring for my father over 8 years ago when he was there for an extended period! They even found old pictures of my dad when he was there and gave them to us ?? The director, [name removed], goes above and beyond, as well as the rest of the staff. They care about their residents like their own family. They are engaged with activities throughout the day! They also have events where family and friends can participate. The food is very good! The facility is extremely clean! I can’t say enough good things about Arden. It’s a great memory care facility for a loved one suffering from this awful disease.

Arden courts of Parma- A GEM on the west side

We are new to Arden courts in Parma and we couldn’t be happier! Mom is 86 with some dementia and they are so good with her- as with all the residents! The employees are very dedicated and compassionate! Cleanliness is also a priority at Arden courts- which is good- because my Mom likes everything clean! The family support is also a positive- I highly recommend Arden Courts!

180 degree change in my husband

My husband moved into Arden Courts at the end of December, 2018. He has Parkinson's and dementia. He moved from an assisted living facility. The assisted living was great until my husband's dementia progressed beyond the care that they could provide. He was withdrawing, not talking, spent most of his time in his room. Quit going on the outings. He had reached the point where more personal care with trained professionals who specialize with dementia issues and the care of dementia residents. Assisted Living was okay as long as he had the wherewithal to join in. We arrived at Arden Courts at 10am, I didn't see my husband until 4pm when I was finished setting up his room. Staff took charge of him as soon as he came through the door. HE HAD MADE A 180 DEGREE CHANGE! I found him in the community room. He was looking around, taking everything in. He saw me and said, "I'm lost here, where am I?" But with a smile. This was the first time in nearly a year that he responded to his surroundings. We went to his room, he was amazed. All of his things were there, pictures on the wall, clothes in the closet. He commented that he didn't know anyone. I said, "Honey, it's just like the first day of school, you'll make friends here." Staff take him to the programs, they check on residents every hour, they keep after his personal cleanliness, he likes the meals, when you walk in the front door, the front office people know where he is in the building. It is so obvious that the staff are trained and love their charges. For the first time in 8 years, I am sleeping at night, so Arden Court is not only good for my husband, they support me, will talk to me anytime about anything. They are just as concerned for the caregiver as they are for their residents. Yes, I am extremely confident in Arden Court.

This was not an appropriate facility for my mom, we were looking for short term respite while I went on vacation. The rooms are so small that there was no way to place her wheelchair next to the lounge chair to do a transfer (we tried). The bed is pretty much right next to the door. There is no shower in the room, everyone uses a single shower down the hall. There is no TV in the room. The only TVs are in lounge areas which had no comfortable chairs for my mom to sit in. The chairs were either overly hard slider rockers that she can't even transfer into, or very oversized cushioned chairs that were so large she could not sit back into it. There was an activity going on in the activity room but they also had a TV blasting very loudly in the same room. Also most of the residents there were not in wheelchairs, and when I asked an aide what's the worst physical condition of a resident she's had to work with (to see if they could handle my mom), her answer was just "oh, they're all good" then a confused look, which doesn't provide any confidence that they could handle my mom's current condition.

Second Home

The caretakers took such great care of my mom. They truly became part of the family! Never felt guilty leaving my mom since I knew she was in good hands, that says it all!

I visited Arden Courts on behalf of my mom. I fell in love with every single thing about the facility including and especially the staff. When the time is right, I am hoping this can become her home.

Arden Courts in Parma is a 5 star facility. My father is thriving there. Everyone I have met there is so kind, thoughtful and excellent at senior care giving. I can rest easy knowing that my father is in good hands.

A good community

We are quite pleased with the care mom is receiving at this community. They are good at keeping me updated on her care. This community is specifically for memory care. The community is clean and we like the layout. The food is ok and mom has no real complaints. Mom enjoys some of the daily activities they offer and I would recommend this community.

Not the Right Fit for Us

Unfortunately I wasn't very impressed with my tour of this community. The appearance of the community looked like an old hospital. While touring the community I saw there is only one shower in the hall. The room they showed us had tiny closet, and you were only able to bring a week worth of clothes. It felt like an institution, and I didn't feel this would be the right fit for my mother, and her needs.

Very happy!

Things are going pretty good for my aunt, she is doing better. The staff is great, we have no complaints. We had some unanswered questions at one point, but all of the important questions have been answered. The place is clean and well maintained, it's always spotless when I visit. They have a large variety of activities and are busy most of the time.
