Assisted living communities administer healthcare, social events, and supervision to individuals around 65 years of age or older. The services provided often involve assistance with ADLs. Inhabitants may be kept under observation and assessment. Under certain circumstances, communities may offer dementia care, continuing care, or skilled nursing care. These include: reporting requirements, procedures for detecting suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation, first-aid and cpr training, and confidential treatment of personal information. These provisions include a licensed health care professionall must annually review all residents medications, Medications may be administered by licensed individuals or by medication aides , and Residents may self-administer medications if they are capable. There is a maximum occupancy of 2 residents per room. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. Public assistance is available through Medicaid 1915(c) waiver program–Virginia Alzheimer s Assisted Living. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include personal and health care services, Provide protection, guidance, and supervision, 24-hour supervision, and Meet the service plan objectives.
