An assisted living community is an organized living community which offers care, supervision, and aid to independent seniors who are not in need of skilled nursing services. Assisted living communities usually provide assistance with transportation and appointments, supervision of care, and aid with the activities of daily life. Under certain circumstances, communities may offer respite, Alzheimer’s care, or skilled nursing. In Illinois, the annual median cost for an assisted living community is around $50,040 . Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to assure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as A comprehensive assessment, assessment must be updated by a physician annually or upon a significant change in condition, provider must ensure that the resident and the resident’s representative, if any, are informed of the potential consequences of activities that the provider considers to pose risks to health and/or safety, and evaluation of a prospective resident’s cognitive condition.
