Assisted living communities provide residential communities and assistance to people who require support with things such as taking medication or cooking food. The Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division supervises this community type. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include the total daily diet must meet the recommended dietary allowances of the National Academy of Sciences Food and Nutrition Board, meals must comply with diet prescribed by physicians, communities must provide at least three meals per day and snacks, and meals must include an appropriate variety of foods, planned in consideration of cultural and religious backgrounds . Public assistance is available through The state’s Medicaid 1915(c) Assisted Living Waiver program. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. These include: skills and knowledge required to provide necessary resident care, need for professionall help, Administrators must complete 40 hours of continuing education units every 2 years, and first-aid.
