The Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Medical Services, Office of Long Term Care (Office) governs this community type. The maximum occupancy is 2 residents per room. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. Staff members obtain education in a variety of areas. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to make sure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as alternatives offered to deal with the risk, An initial needs assessment, what the community will and will not do to meet the resident’s needs, and compliance agreements. Public assistance is available through 1915(c) Waiver program –the Living Choices Assisted Living Waiver program. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include community staff may place the dose of medication in another container and place that container to the mouth of the resident, assistance with self- administration of medication, and remove the container cap or loosen the packaging. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include linen service, assistance with recreational activities , medication assistance, and assistance in obtaining emergency care . This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include three balanced meals, snacks, and fluids are required.
