Just as nice as the other Rose of Des Moines on 19th.

We moved into the Rose of Des Moines on 19th, but this is very nice as well. They take medicare and medicaid and elderly wavier. The waiting list is quite long though something like fifty people. They do background checks on all the residents and Freedom Nurses evaluate everyone to make sure they are a good match.

So far it's pretty nice.

We are new here it's only been a little over a week, but so far we are pleased. They take medicare and medicaid and elderly wavier. They have several nurses in house, as well as one that will come in the evening and weekends. It's quite nice actually. They have great meals and I like what they serve they have a nice dining area. They have an elevator, they have a library and a computer room and a community room, there is room to set outside, and an exercise room. They also have laundry facilities on each floor, so that no one has to lug laundry very far. The rooms are nice and big, there a lots of windows. Lots of safety features, grab bars in the bathrooms and such. They do have a long waiting list. They do a background check on the residents, and they have freedom nurses and they evaluate to make sure it's an appropriate match for their needs.

I would like to send a big shout out to the director [name removed]. My mom had transitioned in at the same time [name removed] became the new Director of The Rose of East DM. I was worried about her transition from her home over 57 years tp now this independent living. But want to say how much my Mom loves [name removed] and also her new home! Its such a welcoming feeling to know your parent is content, safe and very happy with her new living. I feel [name removed] has brought such an open fun loving environment for all individuals that live at the Rose. Also along with [name removed] and the staff, my mom has been very happy with their care and attention. Fyi: my Mom might call you [names removed] but truly does appreciates and loves you are the director of The Rose at East DM. [Name removed]

Falsely advertising

My loved one is there. The place is clean and well kept. But the care my loved one receives is horrible. They advertise as an assisted living facility and train their staff and tell the residents that are independent and don't help them with much. Yes they will help wash their hair and back. Theirs no incontinence care. Their not available when the residents need them. Only for emergencies. As with that they do not call the family during an emergency. This is falsely advertisement.

Less then impressed

Since my mom has been there (4 months)they have fired the Admin and then fired the activity director. The main reason why we moved mom there was because we originally liked how they had different activates daily for the residence. Since letting the Activity director go the activities have been lacking. My mom loves to play bingo and I know its not good when she complains about the bingo activity. I have also been less then impressed about the snakes that they have had coming into the building and the cockroach that was running across the dinner table during dinner. Seems like since the new admin has come in all she has been doing is changing the rules on what can be done and what can not be done. I have mom set up with weekly cleaning and its a hit or miss if they show up. I've been the one going in weekly to do the light housekeeping. This being another reason why we moved mom there was so that I could go back to being a daughter instead of a house keeper and I'm less then impressed with the lack of housekeeping. I've called several times and continue to get the same story that mom is turning them away. I've asked them to call me when it happens because I would place a call to mom ASAP and remind her that they need to be doing the cleaning.

Our experience at The Rose of Waterloo

I wasn't happy with The Rose of Waterloo. The manger was difficult to deal with. My loved one was happy to get out of this facility. The food was awful and was always cold. Overall, our experience at The Rose was poor.

Went to this community villiage and also they did not know that we were coming and that the rep that was suppose to give us a tour does not even work on Saturdays. There was a little cook that was very nice and tried to find out for us if this rep was going to be there. was told not. Not impressed.

This place looks like the pictures on the outside, but not on the inside. The entry area on 13th Street is extremely tiny & has an awful odor to it. The furniture & other furnishings look like they were picked up by Salvation Army Victorian age period reject drop-offs. Outside of the Dining Area, the rest of my tour reminded me off being herded down cattle chutes to very basic inexpensive motel rooms or apartments. The apartments are not worth what they are asking, nor this place. Too bad this is our only choice! This place is not what is portrayed online & in brochures. Get ALL PAPERWORK & CONTACTS IN WRITING, ON THE SPOT & RECORDED. Do not let them leave your person/premise without copies being made, by them, by you, or by someone, & if possible have them witnessed & photographed. If any money changes hands, get that copied & photographed, as well, & witnessed & taped. I can not insist this too much. And if something should happen to you, contact a lawyer right a way, & if you have ANY PROBLEM WITH THESE PEOPLE & ANY ANY ANY THING WITH MOVING IN, SICK YOUR LAWYER ON THEM RIGHT AWAY. For it is my opinion, & feeling, after working with them, that they are shady, crooked, untrustworthy, devious, & worse people; not to be trusted. They went so far as to fire or let go, all the people I worked with, so I could not work with them & started their crooked, cunning, & sinister practices, against me, while I was hospitalized in serious condition in the hospital. But, as I say, these are my dealings with them & feelings & opinions, thereafter. I am still very ill & they are still messing with & constantly hounding me, despite my destitution & condition. Don't deal with them, but if you must, be very very leary & aware & God Bless!
