Top Notch!

I have personally volunteered here and found that the food was amazing(homemade), the facility is very clean, and the residents are very loved and taken care of. If I ever have a need for something like this with a family member, this would be the first place I would go!

Dream Care Home

After reviewing several care homes for our extended family member, we found the pines to be extraordinary. It truly feels like a home, and yet is run with reliable professionalism and integrity. Their focus is truly that all needs for their residence and family members are met first. Finding them fulfilled our dream.

They are taking good care of my dad. It is a nice small facility. The staff have time to give each elderly attention and if they need anything its not a lot of people. Its kind of expensive but its what you pay for so no complaint here. Their are a few activities but not much.

Autumn Grove is a specialized community that feels like home!

After researching and then touring several types of facilities that specialize in long-term Alzheimer's care, my father and I choose Autumn Grove in The Woodlands, Texas, for my mother. She has been a resident since June 2014 and we could not be more pleased with every aspect of her care. My mother is clean and fresh every morning, 3 homemade meals daily, comfy private rooms, attentive and loving caregivers, health monitored daily and overseen by the nurse practicioner, and not to neglect to mention Twila, the manager of this particular Autumn Grove, who demonstrates her tireless love for the 16 residents as she bustles around loving on each one making sure every need is completely met. My father had been taking care of my mother in their home for years before it became necessary to make this change to a long term care home. Though this decision has been difficult, he feels so comforted knowing that his wife of 69 years is receiving excellent, thorough, loving care--physically and emotionally. When he visits he is also loved on by the staff. His questions are always answered to his satisfaction. His special requests are honored, for instance he wanted soft music to be played in my mother's room while she slept each night. We would recommend the Autumn Grove Cottages without reservation to anyone looking to place a loved one for long term memory care.

We are very happy with The Pines, they are really good.

We are very happy with The Pines, they are really good. They keep it very clean, and the people are nice. They are very accessible and the owner is so easy to talk to. When I first came he said, if it concerns you it concerns me. He was the easiest person to talk to of all the places I went. I love that it has a nice family feeling.

Great staff

We chose The Pines at Oakhurst because of the staff members, they were very nice and accommodating. We felt he would get the care he needed here and he did. The room sizes here were fine, on the smaller side but it was private so it was adequate for his needs. The best part about the community was how accommodating they were and they treated him with great respect. I would recommend.

A warm family atmosphere

The caregivers at this care home are supportive, friendly and encouraging. They try to keep the residents active. The food is good and they will fix the resident something different to eat if they do not like what is being served. The residents can eat breakfast at anytime. The home is clean and I would recommend this care home.

Second Family with capable & caring staff & homey feeling

My father has been residing here since he lost his wife & caretaker of 64 years in November of 2014. From the moment I opened the front door for my tour I was greeted by the dog and welcomed by smells of a quiche cooking in the oven…I knew my Dad would be in a good place. The manager was friendly and capable. The entire staff is always friendly and helpful with questions and feedback in person or via telephone. I reside 1000 miles away but communication is generally good. I call occasionally to speak with my Dad, though conversation is challenging. I also e-mail the owner and speak via telephone from time to time. When I am in town; my experiences are positive while on site. My sister lives within driving distance and visits about 2-4 times a month. Her reports are usually positive. I cannot speak to the extracurricular or activities offered. There is a lovely fenced in backyard with a bench where a visitor can step out to take a phone call or get some fresh air. My only constructive criticism is that the phone goes into fas when I call occasionally. On my second try though I connect. Perhaps some music therapy could be introduced, as well. Overall TWO THUMBS UP. I felt like I hit the jackpot & a huge burden was lifted. I am grateful to Pines of Oakhurst, one & all.

The food is average at best

They are doing a great job. It's clean, and the staff is friendly.Everyone here is accommodating and very nice. I think that from what I've been told they may need to tinker with the cooks' menus. The staff is friendly. The nursing staff is capable and easy to talk to.

Ok

I agree with the other reviewer. Staffing has been a problem. Staff seem overworked. There are a lot of staff changes. Recently, the person who does the cleaning has been out ill. Things are still clean, but it’s added to the workload. My loved one is often wearing other resident’s clothes as laundry gets mixed up. On the good side, my loved one has made friends, is clean and groomed. We like the staff and the homey environment.

This facility is ok, but they are severely understaffed. They're using an agency to bring in help and the people that come from the agency seem to have no idea what is going on or what to do. It's just not good service and care. They're always in a hurry and rushing the residents, don't take their time with them. Which is so important, especially in Memory Care. They do have a few really great employees, but overall things aren't great. Laundry gets lost, they never put a top sheet on my loved one's bed- it's just kind of thrown together, and I don't feel like my loved one is given enough water due to issues he's had that are caused from lack of it. They do keep the residents clean and feed them great. The rooms are clean. My main concern is that they just don't pay enough attention to the memory care patients. Now they do bring student nurses in, twice a week I think. I really like that, it gives the residents someone to talk to and interact with. I would recommend them to family and friends, but make the staffing issue known.

Care and options

We toured this community. We found that the community was small and we did not like that the other residents did not seem active at that time of day. We liked the menu and the list of activities that are offered. We think that families should tour this community for the care of a loved one.
