My mom is having an issue with the temperature in her apartment. Last week it got up to 80 with the air conditioning on. A very rude maintenance man came and told her she has to live with it.

It's Probably One of The Best Communities Compared to Other Options

It was a nice place at the time. The maintenance team took a while to respond to requests. The grounds on the campus of the community could use more work.

Tour of Noel Manor

I toured Noel Manor Retirement, but wasn't there for long. We chose another community as location was the biggest factor in our decision.

It's a respectable, clean, and orderly place. I trust them with my family member. All the staff I've interacted with have been great. My loved one's biggest complaint is the food. Every so often she says the food was good. But many times, it's served cold. And she doesn't like that they bring everything to the table all at once, including dessert. So things like ice cream melt by the time you get to them. They also tend to pair together on the menu odd things that don't really seem to go together.

First hand experience in the Villas

Villa Residences I lived in one of the Villas and loved the place. It gave me the comforts of home and the flexibility I desired. They came and cleaned the Villa, and did repairs, as needed very quickly. Any place you live is all about the people. Their top administrators are first class and it is nice to be around GREAT people. I fixed my own meals and could save some money doing that but when I did accept a chance to eat in the Dining Room, it was very good.

Assisted Living

My mom was in the assisted living here. It was good. It was a lot bigger than the memory care community she's in now. There were a hundred and some residents at Park Vista. Mom wasn't getting near the care that that she getting now. It wasn't near as individualized. She had a real nice apartment and that was one of the things I thought we would miss out on, moving to memory care. She had a large one room bedroom with a little kitchenette and it was a little too big for her. She spent most of her time in the bedroom which made it hard to visit with her.

Our experience so far

I have not had any follow-up meetings or any communication since mom moved in. I think that the meals maybe better suited for Seniors with difficulties eating? Mom just doesn't like it. It is often over done, cold, and hard to chew. Overall, I would recommend Noel Manor with these caveats.

Review for Park Vista - Waupaca

We picked this community, because of the location, price (there was a special going on), staff friendliness, and presentation of the building. It was immaculate. I even spoke with one of the residents who really sold the place to me.

Would recommend

Had the health of our loved one not dramatically changed during the transportation to the Legacy the score would be higher. Shortly after arriving our loved one became bed ridden and and in almost constant pain, more than Legacy was equipped to handle. They staff was very kind and caring but the situation became more needs for pain than they could provide unfortunately. That then lead to them recommending hospice care. For the activities, not really applicable since our loved one became bed ridden. I was hoping that the bowling ball I saw on our initial tour would be a source of enjoyment but that unfortunately never happened.

Nice Place

They have a staffing issue. They can't find enough people to run the place and are shorthanded, which is the only reason they're not getting a perfect rating. That, and the food is terrible. But other than that, I really like the place. The people that are there are nice and friendly, and it's a nice place.

Review for The Legacy at Noel Manor

The staff seems very nice when we are there, but communication is a bit limited. We are in new an unknown territory and are looking to the facility for more updates and even recommendations to help the transition with my loved one.

SHARING ABOUT MEMORY CARE

I think the Memory Care floor did well for how they were trained. We moved my mom from PV to another memory care facility once I checked out others. The newer memory care facilites are designed better. They are open, they encourage community, have gated courtyards for residents to still enjoy the outdoors, and there is more activities and training for staff working with those with dementia. At PV, the residents spend too much time alone in their rooms, they hardly go outside, they don't get food choices, they rarely get fresh fruit and veggies, and I went there so many times when they had no activities going on for memory care. At the other facilities, the nursing staff and aides lead the activities the activity directors have them do. Many times the staff at PV are hanging out in the cafeteria or the hallway on their phones waiting for the residents to come out of their apartments. After the evening meal, the residents go back into their rooms where they are alone all night.

My Tour

They made promises and they didn't go through with it. So we did not place our loved one here due to this.

Want decent food? Look elsewhere

My parents have been living at Park Vista in East Moline for about 4 years. It's a clean, attractive facility with activities for those who are able to participate. My major concerns are 1) the food in the dining room is HORRIBLE and 2) there is no supervisors/management there on weekends. My parents have both lost weight (and Dad's doctor says he's malnourished) since they've lived there, due to the fact that the food is barely edible. I suggest that you pass this one up if looking for an assisted living or independent living facility.

Terrible Management

The management team said they would be more than willing to work with the family if any issues arose - however rather then working with our family just after a few short weeks of our loved one being there, they illegal evicted him before Christmas. When we brought this to their attention and to have a conversation they ghosted us. It was basically the worst experience ever.
