The food was fabulous and it was beautiful.

They have meal service. It was more expensive and I didn't want to pay for things we woudn't use, like a swimming pool. The food was fabulous and you can order off the menu. This was our second choice.

My Dad is happy here

My Dad has been at Parc for 2 years. He is very happy there. The people in management are not as responsive as I would like but they eventually do address concerns. That being said, the bus drivers, concierge staff, housekeepers, etc. could not be any nicer.

Great place if your parent is truly ready for the move.

Our loved one had a short stay here, which was no fault of Parc of Duluth. He was just resistant to being there, and kept forgetting he had agreed to move in. The only complaint I have - and it's not really a complaint now that I've visited more places - is that I believe that elderly people suffer from memory loss, period. And there's really no way to know how far that has progressed. The staff was pretty good with our family through the process. In hindsight, I think they were doing a lot more than we were giving them credit for during the week or so he was there. The onboarding process was difficult to deal with, especially the 3-day quarantine period when he first moved in. We thought he would have ambassadors to take him under his wing so he wouldn't have time or opportunity to drive us nuts. But that wasn't the case as much as we would have liked or were expecting. And perhaps our expectations were too high - it is independent living after all. The food was not that great, but their activities offerings looked okay. Given what we saw at other facilities, the value is pretty good, although the cost is still high.

Nice tour

The apartments at this community have small kitchenettes. The community seems clean and they have a heated lap pool. They have an exercise room and a lot of other nice amenities. The people are nice and I would recommend taking a look to see if this is the right community for you or your loved one.

Our families experience

Our parents really love this community, they say the meals are really good but when they were locked down for covid the meals had to be delivered in boxes and sometimes it was a hit or miss. They activities seem to be good and they seem to be getting involved, but they did say on the tour the pool is opened year round and that is not the case. The shuttle service is nice and I am glad the scheduling is now working out. They could just work in communication with the residents and their families. The salesperson was very nice to us and informational during the tour, but once our loved ones moved it was difficult to understand certain things and how certain things work.

Full right now, however we plan on visiting again soon. Independent living apts start on 4th floor, which is higher than we want w/ a dog. The lady who showed us around was very stuffy (a replacement). Overall, ok.

Not what I expected for my Mom.

My mother spent five months there and it was awful. The staff pretend to care but they really don’t. They were very snobby and unwelcoming. Overly priced and not worth the money. Even some of the residents were unkind. Do not recommend.

Tour experience

Parc at Piedmont was way too far out for me. We walked in and toured and I cannot put my finger on it, but I just did not feel comfortable here. It is a beautiful facility but way too over-priced. No senior that is on a fixed income would be able to afford this place.

Avoid

Memory Care review only. When my relative moved in things went well, they? kept them engaged in activities, but the longer they were there the less they even paid them any attention. Their bedding had not been changed in months other then when I went in and did it. I know this, because I would place my time stamped name tag in the sheets. There were several instances of large bruises they could not explain, and falls where my relative was left unattended. They were not brushing teeth or help with bathroom/ change often enough that ended with several UTIs. When any concerns are addressed with staff, it is always the families fault. Not to mention how horribly some of the staff speak about the residents and the residents family in front of anyone in the room. Residents spend the majority of their time in a chair in front of a TV.

Community that prioritizes margins over quality

If you are seeking a community for your loved one that prioritizes high margins over providing the quality experience our elders deserve, then this is the perfect place for you. My grandmother has been residing here since 2017, and unfortunately, we have encountered numerous issues that have greatly affected her quality of life. One of the major concerns is the lack of effective leadership. We have witnessed a constant turnover of general managers, which has resulted in inconsistent management and a lack of accountability. This has had a direct impact on the overall functioning of the community. Additionally, the culinary department has been a major disappointment. We have gone through six chefs in a short span of time, leading to inconsistent and subpar meals. Despite my grandmother's simple request for a healthy, warm, delicious, and visually appealing meal, this basic expectation has not been met. The quality of the food falls far below what should be provided in a retirement community.
