Alexander IV was recommended by a dear friend. When we toured it we were very pleased. The building is a hundred year old former school building that has been renovated. It is very nice, it doesn’t look...

I think the staff are really engaging with the residents who live here. My mom does not do a lot of things that they have offered, but it has nothing to do with the facility. I would definitely recommend South High to others looking.

We were very impressed with South High Senior Living. Unfortunately it was just not the right fit for us, my loved one had a lot of special needs.

Our loved one is happy there, and she has gotten to meet many residents. They are all vaccinated and it really is a delightful place. It is the best place she could be and the staff members are excellent. They have gone through a change in management so the food at first was okay, but not it is much better. They are bringing back more and more activities each day, so for now she is happy with what they have to offer. They take the residents to the grocery store, and even during covid the staff would go to the grocery stores for them. Our loved one really is into art and this community has such beautiful aesthetics and paintings in the hallways.

Knoxville High was the most independent senior living apartment whereas other looked into offered more of a nursing home feel senior living. Her apartment is a good size but they did have some pretty small ones. I would tell people to make sure they look at the apartment they will be living in because a lot of them are laid out differently. I have eaten here and the food is good, it is non- institutionalized. They just recently started to have options that you can order if you do not like what is being served. I would recommend.

For the amenities they offer they are a good options. The historic value is great, the fact that it is renovated old high school is interesting and it was well done. Food is okay, would like less sodium. My mom has been very happy with the staff.

Great renovation and "repurposing" of this building. Size of rooms available do not meet my needs.

The main problem that concerns me is the meal plan. There is not enough green vegetables for the residents. For the amount of money being paid, there should be a selection of meats, fruits and vegetables. They cannot keep cooks, nor staff. Things changed around a month after my loved one came. They also don't engage the residents to participate in activities encouraging them as much as I would have thought. Upper management problem.

My wife was there for memory care. It was more like warehousing. She was kept in her room most of the time. She lost several articles of clothing and sometimes had clothes that weren't hers. She had an incident with one of the staff and they transferred her to a behavioral clinic without my knowledge and she was there for 2 weeks with no visitors. I transferred her to another facility. I read a couple of months ago that they were having some difficulties and might be closing or being taken over by another organization My wife passed away last October. She was in 4 different facilities in 9 months and I think that added to her suffering. There was a tendency in some of these places to medicate when patients get upset or confused.

We picked this community, because It was close to family. But we left and are a more affordable place with better food. Don't go. Foods not good. Short staff. Some staff very friendly. Previous staff had issues with being short handed. It's a beautiful facility. Poor upper management.

I would suggest you keep looking at other communities. This community is small with sparse furniture. The staff doesn't seem very well trained, more like caretakers of the residents more than anything. The staff communication was negative, and the staff didn't like to have questions by the family. The community would make decisions without contacting family or notifying us of changes or treatment of our loved one. I would ask about activities, and the person I needed to speak with was never in their office. I never saw any activities going on during the times I would visit my loved one. My loved one lost lots of clothing and personal belongings that seemed to disappear while they were in the community.

At the moment our families experience has been good, but the community is having issues with keeping steady staffing. Also the meal quality can use a lot of improvement. They just hired on a new chef and right now the feedback we are hearing from our loved one and other residents is that they are not happy.

South High Senior Living is not a place I would recommend at all. They don't follow through with what they say. Their sales pitch is great. The main part of the building when you first go in is very pretty, very attractively appointed. But once they make the decision to transfer a patient to memory care, it's filthy. It took me a whole day to clean the room to get it to where it was suitable to live in. The floors are dirty. I saw the same bucket of dirty water sitting in the hallway for an entire week. The way they feed the patients is awful. They get their food form the main kitchen, but by the time they it gets to memory care, it's cold. They have no condiments, salt, pepper, that kind of thing. The ladies working there do the best they can. But they want to put all of these people in a circle so they don't have to get up and move around to care for them. Which I did not like at all. Some of the patients are much worse than others, and those patients who are so much worse irritate the patients who aren't in that condition. It is not a good scenario, and they just don't measure up to what they say they do. I do not recommend it at all.

It's a nightmare what they are doing to all seniors who live here! No house keeping, no more 3 meals, no more security, what about people who can't see or crippled that can't cook for themselfs??! Oh the complaints well becareful...they will raise your family's rent! How is it this business sleeps at night knowing these seniors have been facing this mess from the company's cut backs! Their scared not knowing if they are going to have a place left to lay their heads!! It's pathetic inhumane!
