Review ofElderwood Village at Colonie
5.0

I haven't found a better place around. If anybody wanted to go to a place for assisted living, I would highly recommend Elderwood Village at Colonie. It's so easy to get along with everybody there. The food looks delicious. They always have stuff going on. They have a big white board where my loved one can see what's going on every day. And if she's hesitant to participate, the caregivers will say "Come on, let's go try this!" It's the best bang for the buck you can possibly find. We visit about twice a week, and it's very peasant there. There's nothing I can say that's wrong with the place. The only thing that would make the whole thing easier is if I didn't have to fill out the Covid slips when I go in to visit. But I understand the need for them, and I very much appreciate that they're keeping everybody safe.

I have been here for four months. I love my apartment, have made many new friends and have no complaints! The facilities are well-kept, staffed adequately and the grounds are beautiful. I was pleased to find the community welcoming but not overwhelming. You can socialize as much or as little you feel like doing! It is so nice not to have to cook or clean!

Review ofBeverwyck
5.0

Beverwyck offers a wealth of activities and interactions with people, even more than I imagined before moving here. No disappointments! It has been easy to meet people and make friends (I knew no one here). The common areas are attractive and comfortable, and have come to feel like home - an extension of my apartment, which I love. The staff are friendly and on the ball, the grounds are beautiful, and every day there is plenty to smile about. During the pandemic, it was very comforting to see other people, safely masked, and then we were quickly vaccinated when that became available. We were in this together, and it was so much better than being isolated in my former home. Great care was taken to keep us safe, healthy, and informed, and frequent little treats brightened everyone's spirits. I am very glad I decided to move to Beverwyck.

Independent Living

For seniors who desire to live primarily without personal care assistance but wish for the assistance of having daily tasks and responsibilities maintained by professionalls, an Independent Living Community might be the perfect option. Frequent needs such as housekeeping and meal planning are accounted for, allowing residents more free time to live their lives as they wish. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to live among peers, surrounded by others of similar ages and interests. Within the individual units, residents have access to a private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a companion if they choose. While policies vary between locations, a number of residences allow cats and dogs as well. If medical or nursing care is desired, residents may always enlist the services of private health care professionalls. There are an assortment of benefits and expenditures to keep in mind when deciding on an independent living community. It is important to determine if these services are covered in your service plan: housekeeping, private phone, meals, Waiting list deposit, transportation, cable TV, wellness program, and utilities. The amenities associated with independent living include game/TV room, community activities, fitness center & swimming pool, transportation, concierge services, laundry service, restaurant-style dining hall, and golf course.
