Independent Living

Independent Living Communities provide individuals with an equilibrium between an opportunity to live an independent lifestyle and not having to concern themselves with chores. Food preparation, recreational activities and housekeeping chores are taken care of while you are able to use your time as you prefer. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar ages and backgrounds. Typically comprised of a private living space and a full kitchen, these communities offer residences with many of the amenities of apartment life but without the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and there will be more time to spend with them with the basic maintenance of daily tasks out of the way. While policies differ between communities, many residences allow pets as well. If residents decide they would like to enlist the services of independent health care professionalls, they may always do so. There are an assortment of benefits and expenditures to balance while selecting an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these services are covered in the service plan: field trips, meals, private phone, cable TV, move-in fee, initial assessment fee, parking, and housekeeping. The luxuries associated with independent living include game/TV room, beauty salon & barber shop, concierge services, restaurant-style dining hall, community activities, fitness center & swimming pool, golf course, and transportation.
