I moved my parents into Yorktown in [date removed], after a long search in the tri-state area. We needed a safe and secure environment that provided lots of caring and support for my two wonderful parents. My dad is a retired physician and my mom an artist. Both very outgoing, fun and intellectual. We wanted an environment where they would thrive. Yorktown fit the bill! The staff has been very accommodating working with me on billing, their apartment and all the little things that goes into living comfortably. They have gone above and beyond to help my parents feel at home and provide all the required necessities with a smile! Their room is so wonderful; clean, bright, airy with lots of windows. Freshly painted, new carpets and a lovely kitchenette is just right for their needs. The have made new friends, really enjoy the food and activities. I highly recommend Yorktown Assisted Living!... Yorktown Assisted Living is special -- the staff is very loving and caring and offers a licensed nurse 24/7. In addition, residents enjoy medication supervision and physical therapy, . The apartments are luxurious and include kitchinettes, laundry and housekeeping services. The chef-prepared meals are restaurant quality. Activities are too numerous to mention and include bingo, Wii sports, gardening, arts and crafts, music, lectures, movies and documentaries.
I am beyond grateful for the warm welcome and smooth transition for my mom, into Yorktown Assisted Living Residence. The director and staff helped mom feel right at home and were able to assist with her medical needs. My mom is a very new resident and has made several friends already. She loves her new friends and has already participated in activities. I cannot express in words how grateful I/we are that she is happy and in good hands. It couldn’t be a better fit !!!
My father has been a resident at Yorktown since last summer. We have been so pleased with his experience — the staff and residents are warm and engaging, and the community keeps a full calendar of events and activities that are tailored to the residents' interests. My dad suffers from a number of health issues, and the communication and responsiveness of Yorktown's nursing staff have give our family so much peace of mind that he is being attentively cared for while still retaining independence.
To those thinking of joining the Yorktown assisted living I must say please do! The atmosphere has a real mom and pop feel with all members of the staff caring in everything they do!! Any concerns are promptly answered along with activities daily. Mom has been there two years now and has good days and bad but most of all she enjoys being as busy as she pleases or just relaxing watching a movie.. It truly gives me peace of mind knowing her medications are given correctly daily and she’s happy!!
My father has been at YAL assisted living facility for almost [date removed]. The worry of this transition from his home to a "facility" and all that that implies has proven to be unwarranted. He has found a new home. He lives with and has become friends with others who are in a similar life stage. He is well cared for and has great affection for the friendly and professional staff. The place is clean and has a homey atmosphere. He has as much independence as he can handle and relies on the services of the staff for what he cannot do for himself. It is a good balance. He particularly enjoys the many musicians who come to provide entertainment - he puts on his dancing shoes! I am and I know he is pleased and grateful for YSL. [name removed]
Anyone who has a loved one with dementia knows how difficult it is to make decisions for them that they don’t understand. Add in Covid, and the wall it put up, made our loved ones feel isolated but I know in a way was worse for us. We all wonder how they are doing. Are they smiling, laughing, angry or just tired. I know I do. I moved my mom to Yorktown Assisted Living Residence beginning of 2020. The transition was unlike any I had ever experienced (and mom and I have been through a few). They were professional and understanding of her needs AND my needs. Covid raised the bar and they kept on raising their response. Open lines of communication, zoom calls... whatever it took to make all of us comfortable. I was always able able to get in touch with the staff just to know see was ok. I look forward to this post-Covid world where I can sit in the beautiful outside garden with my mom and thank all the staff for what they did for both of us. Jim
Yorktown Assisted Living Residence has been a wonderful place for my mother. The staff is very helpful and respond immediately to questions and requests. They are attentive and friendly. There are many activities held throughout the day to keep her entertained and social. I was initially worried about how she would adjust to her "new home" but she adjusted immediately! A warm, cozy home-like atmosphere that is continuously kept very clean. She enjoys the food as well!
In August of last year, my brother and I had the difficult task of finding placement for our parents. Mom and Dad needed more help daily. The entire staff and overall facility helped us through this heartbreaking task with nothing but respect and kindness. Unfortunately Mom passed away and was unable to move to this ALF, but we did take her to see it before she passed away, and she loved it! She picked out the colors for the suite, and loved the woodwork in the lobby. I cannot say enough positive things about everyone who works at this facility and am thankful for them daily.
We chose Yorktown because my mom felt most comfortable with the atmosphere. It seemed to be in better condition than some of the other places that we looked into and she appreciated that. The rooms and bathrooms were more updated. The medical staff is very attentive to the residents. The only downside is there are some restrictions for the residents in regard to giving any sort of gifts to the caregivers. Overall it has been a good experience and I would absolutely recommend them.
The community does a good job with communication and its a priority. They are open to feedback and will listen and implement new ideas. I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.
The people here were great and answered all of my questions that I had. It is an older building, the reason my loved one decided against this facility was the further location.
