For that I go to the courtyard where turtles swim in the pond and I relax to the trickle of the water. But what about the food, you say. I have to be honest. I have no complaints about the food except that my waistline is getting bigger. We wanted to have him closer so that even if something happened at the facility we would be seeing him everyday and could monitor things. We found that Woodbury news is more Hands-On and has followed through with daily activities in a way that the other community did not. A lot of these places promise various activities but do not deliver. WM seems to actually do them. The other deciding factor was the length of time that employees have been on staff. They've worked here for up to 20 years and seem very devoted to the location and the residents. That counts for a lot. So I don't get a fancy dining room but we do get a good location and dedicated staff. My mom says the food is great although sometimes they are short staffed and the waitress is slower than usual due to the work load. Others complain about the food as well but my Mom is happy with it. She can eat in the dining room with full service or ask to take her meal back to her room. Nice and flexible. There are lots of activities but my mom does not go to many. She has started a Bible Study with a group of friends and the staff has added it to their activities calendar which is nice. The rates go up each August. Seems very expensive to me but cost of living is going up for all of us so I guess it can't be helped. It is nice that all meals, activities, utilities (except cable and phone), even van transportation for shopping and appointments is the included. They even have a hair dresser and blood lab available on the premises which is great since Mom doesn't drive anymore. Insurance covers lab work but the hair dresser is added to her bill.
