My father moved into the Hermitage in early Sept 2018. We couldn't be more happy. I was looking for a place for my Dad and after talking to [name removed] I basically stopped my search. She was so lovely and answered all my questions and gave such a great overview of the place. When we saw it, we knew it would be right for my dad. He has had some complications health wise and Hermitage has worked with us every step of the way. The entire staff is incredibly caring and respectful. My Dad has a beautiful apartment and it is quite reasonable without a big buy-in fee. The food is great and the place is very clean. They have tons of activities. They are very careful about who they hire, it is obvious to me. Cheerful, kind, compassionate people everywhere.... Read more

Excellent tour, facility is somewhat dated in some areas but very well maintained. Renovated apartments are nice. The feel of Hermitage was “lively”, similar to the Jefferson. It seems like residents are active and happy. Great location that is close to many amenities. I could see my 80 year-old MIL living here.

A clean friendly place 5 minutes from our kids. Staff exceptional, food choices delicious, as many activities as one would want, including trips to government buildings/museums which are quite close. Apartments are large and seem to be renovated often. One can have as many or as few services as they wish. The building also has a theater, a gym, and a large lobby where residents like to congregate. A nice treat we have each morning is a drink made with a variety of fruit and veggies . There is daily newsletter listing both daily and weekly activities. The library also receives copies of the two local newspapers, which are a popular read every morning.

I moved my mother to The Hermitage from a different community. Things are going great here, she is doing really well. I like it very much. The staff is very attentive and responsive, my mother falls often and they are quick to assist her. Everyone is nice. The head nurse on her floor is delightful. The food is great, she had lost weight before coming to The Hermitage and she has been eating better there. There are a lot of activities. She is in the skilled nursing area, but we are able to take her to other areas so she is able to participate in all sorts of activities the different areas have. There are good musicians who come in and play guitar. There is a hair salon. She usually eats in her area of the community but we sometimes take her to the main dining room that is more formal and it is a little treat for her.

We are very much satisfied so far. They are doing a pretty good job with the food, I eat there a lot, and so does my family and they enjoy it. It probably is a little more seasoned that most elderly folks like, though.

I visited the Hermitage yesterday 2/25. The facility was very nice. The price was a little high, but they offer more than some of the other facilities. At the present time there population is 60% assisted living. I would have to go back and visit during a meal time to see how much assistance the majority of residents require. My father is 91 and is still independent. If the residents require a lot of assistance my dad would feel like he is in a nursing home and would not be happy.

Everything at The Hermitage has been fantastic so far. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, and were right there for us throughout the whole sales and move-in process. The facility itself is clean and well kept, and the room they had available was just right for the loved ones that we were searching for. They even do a great job with the food! I would give them top marks across the board, it really has been a great experience!

Our experience so far with The Hermitage has been a good one! The people are all very friendly, and they seem to take great care of their residents. The facility itself is clean and well kept, and they've got a lot to offer the people who live there. It has worked out well so far!

My experience trying to find place for my mother with mild dementia: - arrogant - information varies according to who you talk to - amateur, even though they have years of experience - ...one of the "directors", [Removed], proceeded to call me an [Removed] - that may or maynot be true, but best to hang up first!

Exceptionally proactive and helpful in making sure they could care fort parents appropriately even before I visited. Hermitage feels more like "family" than any other place I've visited.

Overall they are doing pretty well. There have been a few concerns along the way. I do like DR. Jones, there. I was a little concerned about the physical therapy, but that is a sub contractor. They were medicating her a little more here than where she was before. They have lots of activities, but it seems that they never really get her out of bed. I had some concerns, but I brought them up with the director of nursing, and went over them with her. When I first looked around, I liked the facility, and Lynette is a very nice person to talk to, I was very impressed with her. I was impressed with the facility, it was nicer and they were a more reasonable price. They have kept the community up really nicely.

My mother lived in Florida up until 2 weeks ago. A place for Mom worked with me remotely to find an assisted living community that would work for her. She had some unique health challenges which made the search more difficult. We found the Hermitage and I was delighted by the response, corporation and care provided even before my mother moved in. A non profit community run by the United Methodist Church, it is a great fit for mom. She is still getting accustomed to her apartment (which was newly renovated), but overall she is happy with the living enviornment and care given to her. It is a tremendous relief to know that there are assisted living communities that genuinely care about their residents . I know she will be well cared for and happy here.

I was very impressed with the facility. Lynette Mitchell was warm and inviting as well as extremely informative. She knew many residents by name as we passed on our tour. She was empathic about my concerns for my mother and answered every question I had regarding care and cost. Based on the information she gave me, The Hermitage is within the affordable range for my mother.

I have been very pleased. I think you get a lot for your money, there seems to be a lot that they offer. At this point there really isn't anything that needs to be done better or improved. They have a choice at every meal, which is nice. It's run by the Virginia United Methodist Church, which is something that we really liked.
