Overall the experience has been quite good. Mostly the friendliness of the staff and residents. Staff is responsive if my mom needs anything. It is very clean and well maintained. And there are a lot of opportunities for things to do. My mom mostly likes the intellectual activities but also the movies. They occasionally have music programs. And she like to go to the gym.... My loved one loves food. They offer three meals per day. They have tons of activities. It's an amazing place, and I would recommend to anyone. It's a larger community, and it's easy for your loved one to get lost, if they have memory issues.

The building is new and grand and decorated with flair. It has the feel of a great hotel. It's clean, quiet and there are a lot of activities. However, upon moving in we had major communication issues with the head staff which were never resolved. In 6 months, we've had pain meds go missing, other meds taking 3+ days to show up, meals in restaurants very bland, wait staff new every day - no consistency, long waits when call button is pressed for help, inconsistent communication from staff - sometimes none at all. It's making us consider moving to a new facility.

Everything is superb here. We're just so happy with it and happy to have mom here. She's happy here, too. Medication management was an issue, but ever since they switched from the contracted company they were using, it has improved significantly. Kudos to them for that! The food is excellent and mom really likes it! I think it's great, too! I'd have them come to my home to cook if I could! Communication with the family is very good. Housekeeping is often and it's always very clean. (name removed) at the front desk is always so kind and helpful, she's wonderful! Without hesitation, I would recommend them to family and friends.

Staff friendly and responsive. Atmosphere happy and friendly. They included lots of activities and ways to stay active. Do wish there was a system to integrate new residences a bit more. But they do have many social events.

The facility is really nice. It all looks beautiful. The rooms are okay. Layouts are good, but is not good quality. The staff is mediocre. The restaurant, and food is terrible. Not enough staff to wait on you. We waited on hour to be served, and the food itself it over priced and terrible. Diners so far have been at least $25 a piece. You are "given" $450 a month to spend with your monthly fee. The restaurant is run by a separate company than the main facility. Sad.

This was a beautiful facility. It was brand new and very clean and well organized but did not feel like it would be good for dementia patients. This community felt confusing and at the time not a lot of residents, so there was not a lot of interaction.
The staff, food, and activities are wonderful. This is a pleasant environment. It feels like a resort or hotel. The residents are friendly along with the staff. There are only 220 people living in Independent living. Some of the activities available are swimming pool, walking path in the pool, pickle ball, and more for the residents to participate in.

Our family was able to have an in person tour and this community is absolutely gorgeous, but we just were not able to afford it. However the representatives were great at answering all of our questions.
I think this place is really fabulous. Given the right circumstances and the right resident, there's a tremendous quality of life that they offer. Most of the residents I see seem to be very happy and content. My loved one is not one of them, but she has always been a difficult person and now has dementia exacerbating those qualities. The common spaces are gorgeous and kept very clean, but my loved one's apartment isn't as clean as I would like to see it, especially her bathroom. Their housekeeping crew comes in once a week, and their care team comes in multiples times a day. But I'm still not clear on what the care team's job description is and if they're partly responsible for that or not. In the resident care that they provide, I find the care team to be excellent. The director can be difficult with communication. There are times where I email her with questions or concerns, and I have to email her 2-3 times to get any sort of response. For the food, they offer a nice variety on their menu. But the food is often bland, which I suppose is to be expected in places like this. They have plenty of awesome activities, but my loved one doesn't really participate in any of them. They do encourage her to participate though, and they've even tried to be more firm yet still kind. They've been really good about trying with her.

It's a beautiful facility. Its not like past experiences we've had with other relatives. It's like being in a Four Seasons Hotel. Everybody that works there is guided by a common principle of learning everybody's name, being friendly, and treating people like family. It's very clean and very well taken care of. There's a number of places where you don't have to be in your room that you can sit and read or watch TV or do whatever - living room type spaces. The outside is amazing. They have great gardens where you can sit and chat with your loved ones. During the cold and warm months, there was always a nice place to stay outside. Our loved one passed away recently, and the process went well. Everybody was very caring, and everybody knew his name, even though he wasn't the most talkative person or the type to introduce himself. It was very encouraging. I feel like they lengthened his life. The last few months that he was alive, he was happy.

Response from The Ridge Pinehurst
June 18, 2021Jim – It was our honor and privilege to serve your loved one, and your feedback means the world to us. Your words truly hit at the heart of our service philosophy of committing ourselves to personalized care and supporting our residents and their families. We’re thankful we could be there for support and encouragement during this time. Our sincere condolences go to you and your family. Thank you again for allowing us to be there and for your feedback.
From the first conversation my sisters and I had with The Ridge before our mom moved in, I was very impressed with their professionalism and the love and compassion they have for their residents. They make such an effort to get to know the residents. Within the first week of my mom moving in, they had surprised her with Snickers ice cream, which is her favorite! They also quickly figured out that she likes her coffee super hot and deliver her a fresh cup several times a day! The staff has also set up Zoom calls for me to see and talk to my mom as I live in Boston and am currently unable to fly. That has been very special for me and my family! My mom's birthday is in a couple of days and The Ridge staff has planned a birthday party for her with the other new residents at The Ridge. I know my mom is being loved and well cared for in her new home. Thank you Ridge Staff for making the transition so smooth for my mom.
