My loved one had fallen and hurt her back. They were not doing anything for her. She was eating pasta and pizza when she was a diabetic. When we pulled her out she had bedsores all up and down, she had shingles, lost 40 pounds and no one contacted me about any of this. They also were not changing her sheets. I pulled her out and she was so weak and passed away 3 weeks later. They then wanted me to pay the next months rent. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. I cannot believe the place is still open.

Response from The Courtyard at Auburn Hills
February 28, 2023We're sorry that things didn't work out for your loved one.
If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would! Patient dumping is their favorite way to eliminate any resident that does not meet the "Randall Residence Standard." What is the Randall Residence Standard, you ask? Over medicating! Or in my father's case, it was not giving him his medication. My father was accepted at the Randall Residence after an extended hospital stay. Our family was candid about his condition and what his needs were going to be. The Randall Residence performed two different assessments for admission. They accepted my father, and he moved in. The first week was good. My father got care, he enjoyed his stay, and the caregivers were kind. After his first week, we received multiple calls requiring us to come up and help handle various situations. Here are some of the "incidents": throwing chairs which did not happen. They could not change him. He threw a class that did not occur. He took food, tried to go after someone with a fork, and swung a fire extinguisher. These

January 24, 2023We're sorry Randall Residence of Auburn Hills didn't work out for your father. Not only are we concerned about the health and well being of each resident, but of all the residents who reside at our properties. ~Janelle Randall~

1-I would say the facility is very clean and the personnel was ample, polite and professional. They really went out of their way to help with the admission process for my grandmother. The Director of nursing, [name removed], is wonderful and kind. Honestly can't say enough good things about this place.-

I toured with Randall Residence and they completely ghosted me. They kept talking about how much care my dad would need and I think they just did not want to deal with him. All they had to do was call me and tell me no, I was very disappointed with how they handled the whole situation.
5/5 overall with the exception of staff, but the issues were much more a management problem than a staff problem. We've had difficulties due to staff turnover, trying to get ahold of people who no longer worked there and was never told about the change of personnel/had to investigate and gradually find out on my own the nurse and others had suddenly left. Staff has allowed people to take Mom out of the facility without notifying me , I've spoken to Management about it, hopefully it doesn't happen again. We like it. It is very good overall and otherwise, just minor difficulties.

I toured Randall Residence of Auburn Hills, the community was very clean and the residents seemed well taken care of. For people that need a smaller place, Randall Residences would be a good fit for them.
They are very knowledgeable with past experiences, and honing in on the care your loved one needs and what can be achieved. The staff are great with responding to emails. They do have good communication with the family in person as well. The community is able to handle medication management, hygiene, dressing, and bathing assistance as some of the care types they offer. They also work well with hospice.

I would say to avoid this community and not to use it unless you want o kill your family member. The staff are not knowledgeable and they can not care for the level of patients that they accept. They withhold information and there is not a nurse on staff to monitor the patients and we never met with a physician. The accounting department is also very rude.

Response from The Courtyard at Auburn Hills
May 25, 2022While we always try to learn from our reviews, I will not tolerate such a defamatory statement. We are inspected by the State of Michigan and abide by their staffing ratios, training and guidelines. You are correct that your family member never met with a physician, as we don't hire/contract with one. That is a relationship that the resident continues to have on their own. As for communication, we share resident information with the designated representative that was established in the legal paperwork at move-in. We take resident confidentiality seriously. ~Janelle Randall~
I would tell others that this was the best option for us and our situation. If we were looking at another place again, we would probably go back. The staff seemed great and were nice to work with. The shower schedule seemed to be only two days a week, it would be nice to have seen this happen a little more often for some of the residents. The food was okay, and was above average compared to some other communities. The staff were good at figuring out how to assist with getting my loved one to eat. There was a lot going on during the day for the residents to participate in for activities.

May 5, 2022We appreciate you taking the time to review us. Thanks! ~Janelle Randall~
We chose this community because of two deciding factors - one they seem to be a very caring and personable community, they do not feel cooperative and its just a very down to earth place, and second because of the price, the value is very good. The cleanliness is not the issues, the community itself just feels a little tired.

Response from The Courtyard at Auburn Hills
May 5, 2022I appreciate your comments on Randall Residence of Auburn Hills. We are a great value for the money, while still providing quality care. You're right, we aren't the newest or shiniest property in town, but that allows us to have a core group of long-term employees that truly love what they do and the residents too. ~Janelle Randall~
We don't have anything to compare this community to, but we did choose it because it is close to our family and the pricing was fair. Everyone was really good that we encountered and everything they said would happen did happen - they were pros.

December 1, 2021Thanks Craig for the review. You're right, it's hard to know what to expect/look for when you've never done this before. I'm pleased that everything we said we would do, is happening. We strive to be honest in what promise, and in all our communication. I'll be sure to pass along your review to the entire team. ~Janelle Randall~
My mom was at Randall for a short time before her passing. Everyone there from onboarding to the caregivers were excellent! They are kind and communicate very well with the family. Their care and love for my mom was evident in how she was treated. I would recommend Randall Residence to anyone looking for quality care of an ageing family member.

Response from The Courtyard at Auburn Hills
December 1, 2021Thanks for trusting us with your mom. It's an honor to be able to care for seniors in their final years. I look forward to sharing with the team your appreciation. ~Janelle Randall~
I think they're great. It's a very nice community located in the wood. That's what attracted us to it was all the nature around, the deer and the animals. and the overall fact that there are four cottages, all on the first floor. So residents aren't stacked on tope of each other like at other facilities. They offer quite a bit that other communities don't. They have an actual nurse on staff. They also have doctors who come in and have visits with patients on-site, including for memory care. They have a salon where you can get your hair and nails done. There's also a dentist that comes in once a month. So they have a variety of in-house things that attracted us to them. It's a great value. The staff is very nice. They do puzzles and different things, but I would like to see a bigger variety of activities, especially for more mobile residents. But I'm sure Covid is playing a part in that with limited outings. They have a bus, but it hasn't gone out since we've been there. It is an assisited living facility, so there might be the occasional smell here and there. I feel like that's the case anywhere you go, but overall they keep things clean. And I would highly recommend them. It's a really nice facility.

August 24, 2021Thanks for the detailed review. Yes, we are different than many of our competitors. We feel like a home. No elevators, smaller dining rooms, and yet we still have spacious apartments. Thanks for noticing so many of things that make us special.
Due to the covid restrictions we have not been able to see the inside of the facility, but they just opened it up for outdoor visitations. The quality of the food is much better then our loved ones previous place, we know she is gaining weight. Our loved one is doing well there and seems to really enjoy the staff there when we are able to call and have conversations. They recently had a change in leadership, so sometimes communicating with the executive director has been difficult. However, for the most part everyone there is very polite and when we do call with questions they are able to get back to us in a timely manner.

August 24, 2021You were very brave to move someone in during COVID. Thank you for trusting us throughout this time. It's not easy on the residents, the families or our team, but together we're making it work.
We chose Randall Residence because we needed someplace for mom that had a strong memory care program. The price point also helped us get here because they were cheaper than others we looked into. They are chef prepared meals and my mom enjoys them. She does not normally participate in anything, and she participates in almost every activity that they provide here. They have a Facebook page where they share the activities and some pictures so we can see what she is up to. I would definitely recommend to others looking.

August 24, 2021Thanks Diana for the review! We do like to have fun, and we're glad that your mom is enjoying participating too.
Several of the staff members we have spoken with over the phone, and have video conferences with have all been very positive. They have handled the COVID situation very very well, they have been providing weekly updates. A few staff members tested positive but no residents have tested positive. Our loved one seems happy there, and we would recommend this community to others.

Response from The Courtyard at Auburn Hills
August 24, 2021COVID has been tough on everyone, and we appreciate your kind words about our communication plans.
We have been trying to see our grandmother and they are requiring appointments to bring her to the window so we can see her. They said she is only allowed to "visits", which is also including a phone call every week. They currently have limited activities due to covid, which is understandable, but should be encourage window visits and phone calls to residences to keep moral high during these tough times.

Response from The Courtyard at Auburn Hills
August 24, 2021I sorry that you had an unpleasant experience at this building. When this review was written, it was owned by a different organization (not Randall Residence).
The staff cares about the residents. They only had one nurse on staff. The food was good. The room sizes were okay. The layout of the community was good. The common area is right when you walk in the door. There is outdoor space for the residents in the back.
