The Arbors has been wonderful to my family. They know my dad's favorite sports teams, his hobbies, how he likes his eggs. Anytime I've ever had a question about anything they get back to me right away. Good value for the money in the area. Recommend.
The front desk workers are sometimes very rude, and there is not enough variety when it comes to the activities they seem to be doing the same ones over and over again, even before covid. However, our loved one really enjoys the meals and dining service.

We appreciate your feedback. We have restructured our staffing at reception. It is the responsibility of the receptionist to keep our visitors abreast of the department of health regulations which at times is very stressful. Our activities are scaled back due to the pandemic for about a year now, as the department of health loosens regulations we are eager to get back to a normal activity level. As always please feel free to call the executive director to discuss any concerns.
It was with great concern and trepidation that we moved our dad to an assistant living facility, after interviewing different locations we chose The Arbors in Bohemia. They have made his transition as seamless as possible, the staff is patient, friendly, caring, and compassionate, we are very pleased with the daily activities offered to the residents. The wellness center has been great in dealing with the challenges that dad has presented them, they order and dispense his medication, we are using the in-house doctors, we are happy with them and most important dad accepts and likes them, it's not easy for a 98 year old man to accept changes. I would like to give special thanks the director and the activity staff, they are special people

Hi Rene I wanted to thank you for the kind words. Our directors and associates love what they do and thank you for acknowledging them.
My mother will be a three year resident at the Arbors in Bohemia come this April. I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to the entire staff for the dedication and care they have shown my mother during this time and for the efforts they have made to maintain the safety and welfare of the residents during this pandemic. Prior to the pandemic, I visited my mother every day. Since the pandemic, I have only been allowed peek-a-boo visits. The kindness and caring shown during these visits, not only to my mother but to me as well, is greatly appreciated. It gives my family great peace of mind to know she is there.

It's an honor and a privilege to be her extended family. Thank you again for sharing your positive reviews with us and our community.
We had some billing issues we had to deal with from the community. the room size was satisfactory and they offered several different room sizes. I would not recommend this community to others.

We chose The Arbors at the time because they had a room option that we needed that was reasonably price and also the location. They have options on room sizes. They go to private, semi private and shared. They do have doctors that come into the facility weekly so residents do not have to leave. I would recommend.
After seeing a few different Assisted Living homes, we picked The Arbors for the best layout for my dad. His love of the outdoors and plants was fulfilled with a patio right out his back door and the guided walks outdoor around the building after exercise class. Dad is impressed how every staff member is friendly and helpful. They offer good recreation options and he really likes the food. It was a difficult transition getting him comfortable there but the staff was helpful and supportive to all of us, they answered phone calls and concerns and tried different ways to help him adjust. It has been difficult but we’re happy with our choice and feel grateful for the wonderful care our dad receives.
When we first came to visit The Arbors we really liked the entire layout of this community, everything was on the first floor which was great. The food was adequate, it could of been warmer when it was served, but overall it was good. The rooms were very nice, they were very bright and airy. We had no issues, the staff was extremely polite.
We chose this community because they were willing to work with us during COVID and were very accommodating. The room sizes were nice. My aunt loved the food, there was a lot of variety and it was very nutritious. I would absolutely recommend The Arbors at Bohemia.
I'm so grateful that we found The Arbors. My grandmother had recently passed away, and my grandfather was struggling living without her. At first we were apprehensive, as no one in my family had any experience with assisted living - but it was ultimately a great decision. The staff is incredible - so kind and patient. My grandfather was initially very homesick, but they helped him to integrate into the community. They were always quick to help and very friendly. There were also always activities for the residents to participate in. My grandfather was a very social individual - and this was probably the most important factor in picking a place for him to live. Part of the reason why we choose the Arbors is because they have such a good activity program. They have both structured events for the residents to participate in, and amenities that they could use at any time. The facility itself is very nice. We were afraid it would be medical, but it's actually quite the opposite. It's decorated as a normal home would be - there's even a few different lobby areas where we were able to comfortably visit with him. I cannot recommend the Arbors enough - especially for families with an older relative who enjoys socializing and staying active.
They were wonderful with my dad. The community always looked and smelled clean. The nursing director was very communicative with us about my dad's care and was always willing to talk to us and answer our questions. The care giving staff was also very patient. They did a good job with keeping my father busy and included him in activities. Absolutely a good value for the price, especially when considering other communities in the area.
Our family had a special lunch delivered for the staff at the Arbors of Bohemia today as a “Thank you” for the wonderful care they have and continue to give our Mom. These have not been easy times for any of us while dealing with the Covid Pandemic. I have not been able to visit her since mid March when all of the NY facilities went into a “No visitor” protocol. They stepped up, taking all the precautions while continuing to care for our loved ones. We have had peace of mind for the past year, knowing our mother is well cared for with kindness, understanding and compassion. Please read below to hear the message I wanted this lunch to convey. If you are trying to make the difficult decision to have to move your loved one, you will find the Arbors of Bohemia to be the best! They are all professionals with very big hearts! ******* To the Staff of the Arbors of Bohemia, This is special lunch is just a little something we hope can bring light to what has been a very difficult time for all of us. While we could not be with our loved ones, you all have taken that giant step to fill in that empty space in their lives. We know it has not been easy for you. All that PPE gear is not easy to wear throughout the day BUT YOU DID! You accepted the extra responsibilities to keep Mom and others safe while limited to their rooms, preparing and serving their meals, cleaning more frequently and thoroughly than you normally do, organizing and delivering each of their meds right on schedule to keep them well, and while making observation for any possible changes that could indicate a simmering problem. Some of you even rebooted or repositioned that Alexa device in Moms room so we could see and communicate with her! And you continued to answer the phones with the greeting, “ It’s a great day at the Arbors” because everyone made it so! And most importantly, you made hard choices to balance the needs of your own lives outside of the Arbors, so you could remain healthy and not introduce our loved ones to this dreadful virus. We recognize many of you struggled with children and family at home and their care and even schooling! You too have had to deal with finding toilet paper and food for your own families, some of whom may have suddenly been without jobs, while you still did. We have always felt that it is the staff at the Arbors of Bohemia that helped make our Moms move from her own home easier. We know she was and continues to be looked after and cared for by the best of the best! We recognize and APPRECIATE you all for what you do each and everyday! And you did all of this with a smile on your face.. We hope you can enjoy this lunch and know how much we love and appreciate you each and every day. We hope to be able to see and thank you all in person, soon!
We had to move my Mother in law back from Fl. quickly in Sept 2019 at 93 years old. It was a very difficult time for all of us. As a RN I wanted nothing but the best care for her. From the moment we walked in I was at complete ease. [Name removed] never walked by on resident without saying hello, how are we doing with your care, lunch etc. From [name removed] comes a standard that all his staff follows. Respect and Kindness. Mom passed away in Jan. 2020 I wish she had more time at this wonderful place. She was so happy and we will be forever grateful. Although I wish I knew all your names, from the from the cleaning staff, receptionist, care personal and everyone else there, You all did a wonderful job. Thank you all! Sincerely The [name removed] Family
It was a difficult decision to put my mom in an assisted living but I feel very comfortable with my decision in choosing the Arbors in Bohemia. The staff is kind, caring and so supportive. [Name removed] helped me over a period of months to help with the adjustment in my mom living at the Arbors. [Name removed] continues to be supportive to both my mom and I. [Name removed] is literally a text or a phone call away if my mom or I need ANYTHING. The wellness directors [name removed] and [name removed] are extremely helpful in making my mom comfortable in her new home. The recreational director, [name removed] spends an endless amount of time preparing many activities for all the residents at the Arbors. [Name removed] makes sure that she finds each and every resident something that interests them. [Name removed] has gotten my mom to do things I never thought my mom would do as in, going on a beautiful trip to the wineries, doing crafts and participating in a school program which includes making crafts with children at various elementary schools. Everyone at the Arbors in Bohemia from the maintenance staff which includes [name removed] who is extremely helpful in assisting me with making my mom’s room cozy and comfortable, to the laundry staff, the wellness staff and the receptionists have been instrumental in making my mom feel at home. There are many questions in the beginning and I appreciate all of the guidance that everyone has provided me with. I am confident that they will continue to be caring and supportive and provide my mom with the care she needs.
My mother in law was an independent 96 year old when she had a stroke in July. While we were lucky the stroke was not incapacitating, we knew that independent living was no longer an option. We had to make the difficult decision to find an assisted living facility. The team at the Arbors was empathetic to our situation. As we toured the facility, we saw all the activities going on with residents along with the multiple areas where she could go if she wanted quiet or if she wanted to participate in these activities. The Arbors at Bohemia has a beautiful interior courtyard with a resident garden. She can participate in gardening comfortably in the raised gardening beds. This was a hobby she enjoyed for many years and will now enjoy again. Her room is very comfortable and we were able to decorate and place all the familiar things from her apartment. It is very comforting to know that she can still enjoy independence and not be burdened with the daily tasks. These tasks are taken care of quite capably with the Arbors Housekeeping, Wellness teams. The staff is friendly and they know all their residents. She has adjusted easily to this new chapter because of the Arbors team attention and support. We are very grateful to the Arbors team and know we made the right choice.
The Arbors of Bohemia is everything we hoped it would be. The staff is great, the community rooms are bright and clean and they have tons of activities to keep everyone busy. The staff goes out of their was to make it feel like home.
My 98 year old mother in law, [name removed], has been a resident at The Arbors in Bohemia (Long Island, NY) for several months. She is failing. The staff at The Arbors has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Their overall professionalism and constant efforts to keep her comfortable, active, clean, and happy are the deeds of an outstanding crew. [names removed], and the facility manager , [name removed] have consistently made every effort to make sure she is receiving the highest level of care. The staff that works for those three are always cheerful and around to assist with the daily chores my mother in law is struggling to do on her own. I'm not a review writer, first time ever doing so. I highly recommend this facility as a place you can be sure your loved one will be looked after with all the attention and genuine concern you would wish for. Good luck with your search, The Arbors is the place to go. Sincerely, [name removed]
I had called A Place for Mom on several occasions. Each time I was able to speak with a kind, compassionate person who listened to my dilemma and was able to guide me toward alternatives suited to my loved ones needs and personal circumstances. Ultimately with their guidance a perfect place was found for my mother who could no longer live in a healthy safe manner in her own home without a moderate and respectful level of care. While the transition to this change in lifestyle has had its challenges the caring professionals at The Arbors of Bohemia has left us with peace of mind and trust for my mothers care, well being and social enhancement in her life.
My dearest friend chose the Arbors of Bohemia as his moms residence for her final senior years and it was the best decision he ever made for her. Somewhat resistant to leave her home if 50 plus years the staff at the Arbors made it the most pleasant transition for her. They kept her somewhat busy during the day which was exactly what she needed since she was very good at isolating! The staff in all areas from management to housekeeping are truly amazing which shows because the facility is both immaculate and cheery ! Actually inviting fir all to visit .
