Loved one in memory care safe and well cared for
My father is on the memory care unit: The staff is very willing to talk and listen to families. The activities staff try's hard to keep those who are able, active and involved in activities throughout the day. If a resident needs to rest or take a nap, they understand. The staff is well trained in working with dementia residents and know how to redirect and calm a situation if need be without embarrassing the resident. I feel my father is safe and well cared for. My only issue has been communicating to my siblings and I when he needs more supplies; or clothing, in his case, has become too small. Luckily one of us is usually there at least once a month, as we all live out of state.

Satisfied Family Member
I've been very pleased with the care they've given my dad and with their attentiveness. Also their communication with me has been excellent. There's always a call or a text from them to tell me if something is not right or if there's something they need to do. Overall the facility is clean, although his bathroom could use a little more attention. He seems to like the food. They have activities during the week, but not during evenings / weekends. When they do have activities, they get him involved, which is great.

Peace of mind
The Arbors at Amherst has been wonderful, especially with the whole process as it was happening they were great at explaining everything. On move in day the staff were all super accommodating and helpful with getting her room all set up for her. They offer a lot of activities for the residents so that has been nice. It is expensive but we think it is worth it for the peace of mind that we have.

I like this facility
I’m happy with this facility and the care they’ve provided to my Mom. The staff is good, she has a lovely room, and the food looks fine and well balanced. They have a lot of scheduled activities for the residents, with at least 2 of them in the morning and 2 in the afternoon, including trivia, bingo, musical events, and even carolers will come by during the holidays. The cleanliness is fine, I have no complaints with that, and housekeeping comes by once a week or as needed. The only thing I wish I had known ahead of time is that they have a policy to call the EMTs anytime a resident falls, regardless of if they’re okay. The staff will not pick them up and as far as I know, no other community around here has that kind of policy. Overall, though, I would recommend them to others.
