Overall it has been a great experience and we would definitely recommend Savannah Court of Brandon to other families. The staff members there are so friendly, caring and very attention to the residents needs. They keep an open line of communication which we really appreciate. Our Brief Experience
My father was only in the facility for 2 weeks before he passed away. So we were barely getting situated when Dad passed. At that time, there were a lot of undone things, i.e., meds, OT, PT, food requirements, Dad was diabetic. I was going back and forth to administer meds because of the different medical requirements. We were working things through. The major plus was it was 2 blocks from my house. It was a bit over our budget, but I have great siblings who were willing to help. It was a chaotic time because the original placement we had setup opted out because of Dad's fall risk. My big take away...is stay involved with your loved one's care regardless of the facility. Things may not fall into place immediately.

Tour experience
The staff at Savannah Court of Brandon were wonderful, they were the nicest out of any place that we toured with. The facility itself was older and looked more run down. The room sizes were also on the smaller side. The main reason we did not choose this facility was because both my parents had terrible experiences over at Brandon Medical Center which is the hospital right down the road. If anything were to happen, that would be where they send them and we did not want that.

Savannah Court of Brandon was another one of our many tour stops scheduled in looking for a place for my father.
The facility was lovely, staff that we encountered were very friendly and sociable with us.
Everything seemed clean and very fresh smelling inside. Very nice place.

Tour of Savannah Court
I toured Savannah Court of Brandon and it doesn't look bad from the outside, but when I walked in I immediately smelled urine which was a bad sign.
It was filthy, the carpet was dirty. I understand it was an older community, but I wouldn't take my dog there. I'm not a clean freak but I do like things to be clean. We scheduled an appointment, but the lady said she didn't know I was coming. We requested a wheelchair in advance so I could go around the community, as I was only a few days out of a major surgery. The lady replied by saying, "We don't have wheelchairs".
The rooms were dirty and very small. I asked for a pricing list, and the woman said that they don't do that. I then asked her how do I find out what things cost? She replied that the lady who handles the pricing wasn't there and they'd have to mail it to me or get back to me. The room they showed me was the deluxe one and it wouldn't have fit a single bed, I've had closets that were bigger. The band was playing out in the hallway, and when she closed the door we could still hear it. I would like to take part in things, but I like privacy. I don't want to hear things going on outside or my neighbors. They were also not very friendly and we came across a resident saying she was hungry and how they didn't give her breakfast or lunch. I wanted to go out and buy her something to eat. I also didn't think it was a mental thing or anything like that going on with her. The lady showing us around asked me if I would be paying privately or something different. I didn't know what she was talking about, but I got the sense that she maybe meant Medicaid or out of pocket? She mentioned that if I were to pay for it myself then it would be this price, or if I paid otherwise it would be a different price. I thought to myself that it shouldn't be two separate prices.

Working With A Great Community to Make My Loved Comfortable
I was disappointed in the care my loved one received during their short stay. My loved one was supposed to be getting bathed twice a week and the community was supposed to be doing the laundry for my loved one. I ended up having to ask for this to be done.
The community wasn't able to accommodate the dietary restrictions for my loved one. They would end up giving my loved one sandwiches to eat.

Our family had an in person tour and it was so depressing, people were just sitting in wheelchairs all slumped over, and it was just as expensive or more then other communities we looked at.

Nice place
This was a nice place but my problem was that my loved one did not feel comfortable with her roommate. She asked for a change and they took to long to react. She got to mad and decided to leave. If they would have reacted faster she may have stayed. Overall it was nice it was just this part that didn't work.

We are very happy there. The people are great. They take very good care of my mom. She just went on a community outing today and had ball. She can keep her cat there, and that keeps her form getting so lonely. We're very happy with them.

The staff is very caring and the aides pay attention and can keep us up to date with our loved ones' condition. The community is smaller and the director is extremely involved and truly cares. We have had no complaints about the food and they have multiple options. The community has low turnover and they have on-site therapy options. My only concern is I would like more proactive communication with the staff but I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.

I would want others to know we have not had a good experience here. Their communication has not been good at all with families. They have not had any cases of covid inside the facility which is good, but overall, due to our experience I would not recommend.

What stuck out to us was that it is a very home like facility. It also smelled way better than others that we had looked into. I have eaten here and their food is better than the place my mother in law was in that was more expensive. The dining experience is very formal, they do have a menu with a variety of choices and they serve you like you are at a restaurant. The room sizes here are very good and spacious. They have a variety of sizes of rooms, they will balance your financial and quality. I would absolutely recommend to others who are looking.

We liked the way the building was set up, it had a grassy area with trees in the middle. The rooms were set up to where they could either see the tree area or the courtyard. The residents could take walks around the community, they could also sit outside in the sun or in enclosed buildings The food looked good, but they could have a better variety of drinks to choose from. They always were given red cool aid. We really liked how mom developed a close friend group at this community,

[Name removed] wasn't able to meet for tour, cancelled. Staff tried a short tour, however, my daughter and I cancelled the tour. On entry viewing we saw it's not a good fit for our family member. The rating is not a complete rating as we didn't do the tour.
