Very happy with our choice
5 for all categories! The facility is very clean and all staff are friendly and all my dad can say is how great the food is and he is always eating. He also does activities everyday and so much more than he ever did while at home. We are so glad we picked Point Loma estates for him.

Horrible experience, can't believe they're still in business. Don't go!
It was HORRIBLE. A nightmare. Don't do it. They did not care for my loved one. They did not change him the way they were supposed to, they didn't make sure he ate, he was left dirty, and they didn't care.

The staff is kind and accommodating, but they are unable to care adequately for my loved one. We moved him soon after placing him there. The residents are nice, and there are lots of activities.

Pollutions
This nursing home is located in the middle of a body shop, a mechanic shop and a junkyard.
The junkyard is loaded with broken, damaged cars, boats, bicycles and anything you name it from 100 years ago…!
This is a private property used for living and business.
Cats, raccoons, passim, rats live and poop, urinate, vomit and deliver babies there…
When it rains, you must see what comes out of that area with rain…
Sun drys all this pollution and we inhale ??????
When it rains, it washes away all these poop , vomit and urine to our ocean and the rest of our town!
Is there anyone who cares for their family members living environment…!?
I hope so????

I've been very happy with them so far. Everything has gone pretty well, minus a few minor bumps in the road. It's a good facility with friendly staff. And it's a cost effective solution for memory care patients.

Highly recommend very friendly committed staff
The biggest selling point of Point Loma Estates Memory Care is their staffing team. It has been the same staff before covid and all throughout - they are so dedicated and committed to their residents. They have little to no turnover there and their friendliness gets 5 plus stars. We have not eaten the meals there ourselves but our loved one does seem really pleased. They offer plenty of activities and they have a lovely nice outside park area. It has a smaller feel to it which we like, the residents can step out of their rooms without getting lost or confused walking through the hallways.

Not a good experience.
It was not the best experience.. they were nice at first to get you in but when we got my mom in there it was not good. She was only there 2 weeks. Granted she declined very rapidly, I don't think they knew how to care for her. One helper brought her in the visiting room in a wheelchair w no feet. My moms feet were just dragging on the ground as she'd slid down in the chair.. she was not kind, saying nothing, just pushed her in the room and left. It took at least 4-5 days to get her meds right, she needed them put in food and they kept telling me, I hand her the pills but she won't take them.. no she need them in food! again it was not a good experience. Then she had a stroke and no one told us.. once we found out we took her home next day.

They really made the process very easy and seamless for our family. They were very understanding about dementia and Alzheimer's and were able to put our family at ease while placing our grandfather. I would highly recommend Point Loma Estates

Family Oriented and Peace of Mind
We are very happy with Point Loma so far. There is a sense of family. They are very caring. Every time I call they know who exactly who I am and who I am checking on. All the med techs are very caring. The community is very clean. I am kept in the loop with everything. There is a doctor and nurse that visits the residents each month.
The staff are very engaging with the residents. There are lots of celebrations each month. The staff are very good at redirecting my loved one when asking when they get to go home. The staff has had very little turnover in the last 10 years.
I am very satisfied with the care my loved one is receiving.
The food seems to be very good. My loved one is eating the food, and has perked back up in color. The meals are well balanced. The food is delicious.
The medication management, laundry, housekeeping, bathing assistance and more are some of the care the community is able to provide my loved one. My loved one's room is always clean.
The apartment, care, utilities, transportation and all the meals are included in the monthly rate.

Safe and Well Cared For With Peace of Mind
Overall we were happy with our experience here. The staff were attentive, friendly, and kind. There were times my loved one's items would get lost in the laundry and I wish this could be improved a bit for the residents.
The community would say they had activities going on, I would see the resident's sitting in a common space. I'm unsure of specific activities that the resident's have.
The food was good.

Flexible Staff
The care has been good. The communication is a little weak. It's very hard to evaluate because we moved in during Covid lockdowns. It's been a very strange time. I know they've had some substitute staff when their regular staff had to quarantine. They do have a singe RN on staff. That person changed over during the pandemic. The same activities people are still there. The activities are fairly standard for any care facility, but I know the activities staff stepped in to do a lot of the caregiving to the extent they could during the pandemic. They've had to be flexible in crunch time when most of the staff was out yet they had more responsibilities than ever. I've not had the food, but I can see that my loved one is gaining weight - in a good way - that's great too see in a memory care unit.

Nice community
Eimcroft was clean and the staff were friendly. You really have to stay on top of things to get things done. Some of my dad's personal items went missing, They offered activities but my dad chose not to participate. The food was not good and served cold. I chose this community because availability and location.

Fantastic staff and community!
The staff was great, they were so accommodating with my loved ones. We couldn't speak highly enough with them. The care the staff gave was great. The activities were great, the staff did a great job with getting my mother-in-law to engage as much as they could. Elmcroft of Point Loma is an excellent value!

While the facility was nice enough and the residents
seemed well cared for, I really did not like the location. I felt like I had to watch over my shoulder when walking to and from my car. I did inquire about this and was told, they really have not had any problems and it was safe.

I liked the layout of the facility & the fact that there were only 40 patients. There was no strange odors & lighting was good. I did not have the opportunity to interact with residents or view interactions between residents and caregiving staff. I differently would need to revisit the facility & ask more questions.
