It’s a scary proposition moving to a new home, especially when that move is solo. My parents were married almost 55 years when my mother passed away. They did everything together. My father is a retired cardiologist and has his interests, but socially, he deferred to my mother to lead the way. He loved her and was content to be with her regardless of the activity. After my mother passed away, my father decided it was time to move to North Shore Place (NSP). Was Dad going to enjoy this? Was he going to make friends on his own? Suffice it to say, the first few months were an adjustment. But the staff persevered and helped him meet new people. Now, nearly five years later, my father doesn’t miss a meal. He enjoys going down and that’s his time to mingle. When his birthday roles around, staff make him feel special. The nursing staff on his floor is top notch and responsive. I sleep at night knowing my father is well taken care of. Isn’t that what it’s all about?

My mother in law is still in the phase of transitioning from her home to this place but then again no matter where we had placed her she would have had a hard time. . She is doing much better thanks to the staff of being empathetic and patient. In fact we went back several times to them before placing her to ease everyones mind that this was going to be the right fit and every time we went back they always welcomed us never made us feel that we were bothersome to them My mother in law is slowly coming around to the food she is slowly starting to eat but I have eaten there a few times and the food is really good. I think once she gets more settled in she might like to participate in the activities they offer. Over all I am very pleased with this location my mom had been in one of their sister communities and she really liked it there as well so I honestly expect the same once she settles in. .
