Depressing Experience
My loved one used to live at Courtyards, but we have since moved her elsewhere. The community seemed to be short staffed most of the time, the air conditioning did not work at all through the hottest months of the year, it smelled of urine often, and I didn’t like that they had private bathrooms but communal showers. I also didn’t like that she lived in the dementia ward there. I didn’t feel like her health had progressed enough to need that, and I found that ward to be very depressing. She lives in assisted living where she is now, and it is so much better. They did have a great hairdresser at Courtyards, but it was otherwise not a good experience for us.

If People Can Afford to Live Elsewhere I Suggest They Do So
I am living here 2 years and have always been pleased with this facility until a few weeks ago. I appreciate medal railings in my shower. This facility is on probation from the state of California because of under-staffing including caregivers. They can't seem to hold on to people. The corporation seriously cut service and their hours regarding laundry and room cleaning to less than 40 hours a week so they are not able to get benefit while adding quite a few new residents. Some of them left already. Many people love the paid performers here but the corporation as of this writing eliminated most of them. I am physically in pretty good shape and exercise my mind with crossword puzzles. In other words I can amuse myself.

Horrible place
This is a HORRIBLE place! I know multiple people who have worked there and are still currently working there. The facility is very unsanitary, I have seen roaches and ants! The food is nasty, the chef's pick at the food with their bare hands. If you don't know who I'm talking about it's the heavy [Removed] and glasses. They also have the caregivers going into the kitchen and passing out food with NO GLOVES after changing residents. Most of your workers smoke weed ON THE JOB. I live on the same street and I walk past there multiple times a day and I have seen the employees smoking a blunt or drinking in your parking lot in their uniform! Most residents don't even get there showers when they are supposed to. Some of your caregivers will refuse to shower a resident cause they don't feel like it! You have people working for a check and not cause they actually care and want to help. And the new boss, soooo ghetto, loud, rude and unprofessional! Also you need to put the right amount of caregivers to residents. You can't have damn near 20 people to one caregiver!!

Read before choosing!!
Not good. They are on they're 3rd management change in less than 7 mos. needless to say they need to shape up. Check out the CA state title 22 regulatory guidelines for assisted living facilities. This place has many many code A violations!! Read up before you choose!!

The food could be better, but they are doing a good job.
They are doing a good job so far. I think the food could be better. I think both the quality of food being brought in as well as the skill of the cook could be improved. Other than that I don't have any concerns. It's clean and the staff is friendly.

Nice, helpful hostess, but facility is rather dreary, feeling like a nursing home throughout. Studios are fine inside, but hallways are not inviting...very institutional feeling...fine for memory patients and those in need of great care, but I would not recommend it for those who can live independently. The dining room was also not very pleasant. They could paint the walls and put out fresh flowers and plants...that could make a difference..

Here at Courtyards, we definitely take all suggestions to heart. Shortly after your review, we did a complete remodel on our dining room and it is now much more pleasant. We are currently in the process of doing a remodel to other parts of the community as well and when it is finished, I hope it no longer has the nursing home/institutional feeling for you. Again, thank you for your suggestions as we are doing everything we can do to provide not only great care but also a pleasant environment for all of our residents.

We are thrilled with the Courtyards at Pine Creek and so is my Mother-in-Law, who has been living there for about a month. She has settled in quickly, LOVES the food, and keeps asking us for assurance that she can live there and not have to go back to her own home! The facilities at the Courtyards are excellent - Mum has a large room of her own with sliding doors to a lovely, quiet courtyard. She has been able to bring her own plants to "garden" with outside and enjoys sitting in the sunshine looking at the trees and flowers. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They have helped Mum adjust to her new life and feel safe and comfortable. We recommend the Courtyards to anyone looking for an assisted living community for a loved one, or for themselves.

We love hearing positive feedback about our community and if there is ever any concerns, please feel free to contact me. Here at Courtyards we try to make the sometimes difficult transition into a pleasant one and find something to bring their old life into their new one. Thank you for the positive review.

It's Okay
This place is okay. Honestly, it was the most afforable place in the area, so we went with it. There's been some issues with the care. They said they couldn't take him until he was a level 1, and now he's back to needing more care. It seems that he doesn't get out of his room much, so that could be why. Also, there was some miscommunication about the finances. I was told the deposit would be put towards the first months rent, but then later told that it was just to cover fees. Other than that, Susan is nice and friendly. Things have just been a little flaky. The place looks good and smells good though - it's a nicer facility. The residents seem happy. I just wish they would engage my loved one in more activities. I was told that he would be able to participate more, but they never bring him. I have worked in the industry though, so I know it's a tough job.

I feel that Court Yards at Pine Creek...
I feel that Court Yards at Pine Creek was meant to be for my husband. He has dementia, had started to wander off from home and was confused, disoriented and lonely. He needs 24-7 supervision. My first impression of Court Yards was that it had a lot of open, sun-lit space and smelled fresh. The memory care corridors are wide and well decorated without clutter--as my military background husband would say. My husband's room had new carpet installed and a new bathroom floor. This is our first week so there are still amenities to add to his room, but day by day , my husband is getting used to being at Court Yards. He is making friends with other residents. The staff have been very friendly and helpful, and the food is good.

Not A Great Location
We looked at this place but that part of town is kind of rough. We just didn't like the location. Not to take anything away from the community itself. It was only the location we weren't happy with.

Thank you for taking the time to tour our community. It is one of the things that we cannot change where we are located, however we have done everything we can and have not had any issues with the neighborhood. Since our community has been here for over 30 years, there have never been any issues with the neighbors that I am aware of and we take pride in the fact that we do have safety measures in place to deter anything.
