Stay FAR AWAY

Extremely short-handed. CNAs struggle to keep on top of patients because there are 3 to 6 people daily. Patients are supposed to be showered 2 times weekly does t happen I had to fight to get a shower once a week. Patient left in urine-soaked diapers for hours and hours. Place is a dump l needs total upgrade. Only nice floor is two which is the rehab floor. Normally. Very few activities for residents. They are usually left alone to sit and stare at walls in hallways if they happen to have someone to sit in day room they sit there staring at the walls .. admin staff rude and nasty . Please don't even consider it ! I know first hand !!

Only one thing I can say, please avoid this nursing home. My father was there, and it was a total disaster. Based on my experience, I would never encourage anyone to put their loved ones in this facility because you will regret your choice.

PROCEED WITH OPEN-EYES.....

Avoid this place...it is a nightmare ! My dad was there for nearly three years and when he died in 2018 at 93,the creeps in there did not even call me or send a condolence card. That speaks to the total lack of empathy and professionalism they possess. It's all about the money and raking in the Medicare/Medicaid payments and attaching the social security and pension incomes your loved one may have after a lifetime of hard, honest work.If you do not go regularly to visit your loved one, they only change their diaper in the morning and at bedtime. His was urine soaked and feces-filled all day long and it stunk from the hallway ! The Dutch-American clinical supervisor on the 4-th floor was useless ! The psychiatrist had dad on (6) anti-psychotic drugs daily to render him a vegetable !They rarely got him out of bed with the hoya-lift. The food was not worthy of a kennel;cheap kosher garbage that resembled vomit !The aids are over worked, under paid, can be rude and nasty and they are perpetually short-staffed ! Some of the nurses are better than others, but are still basically dis-attached and sub-standard.The administrator is unapproachable;rolls his eyes, has a blank-stare and is of no help and is worthless ! Please listen to me and avoid this horror show for your loved one.In essence, all these nursing homes for profit are the same and the end of life experiences for our dear loved ones becomes a never ending nightmare for so many of us left with no other alternatives.

STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

No matter how desperate you are; no matter how bad things are for you as a caregiver, no matter how much your family is not helping you to take care of your loved one, STAY VERY FAR AWAY from this facility. This is a place where they pile all the residents into one, dingy, smelly room during the day, drug them up so they do not have do anything for them, and basically ignore the patients needs. The administration is useless. They will never answer your questions. The Social Services area is a joke. The nurses were very nice but not skilled. I once found my Mom's pills under her bed! They ignored a UTI that Mom had for months and months. I kept asking for them to get blood work, to treat it, to help her. They ignored me. I finally demanded they take my Mom to hospital by ambulance. My Mother was dead a short time after her admittance; the UTI was so bad and the doctor from the nursing home put her on an antibiotic sher was allergic to. EVEN THOUGH THE INFO WAS RIGHT ON HER CHART. The doctor from this nursing home prescribed a terrible drug that was not supposed to be given to dementia patients. It put her into some coma like state and she never recovered. This was a woman watching NCIS and eating cheesecake and walking around with me one day before the drug was administered. If you are looking for help with dementia or Alzheimer's, DO NOT GO HERE. They no NOTHING of how to care for someone with this disease. My Mom was having a very high anxiety day and when I went up there they said: "We can't handle your mother and you can't either so what do you want to do"? They are the most insensitive, rude obnoxious group of caretakers I have ever met. I once attended a meeting with the my Mom's medical team at the facility. The head nurse was slumped down in her chair in front of her laptop, acting like the whole meeting was an imposition. They did not know anything about what was going on with my Mom. The place is dirty, the aides are horrible. They leave patients sitting in urine soaked underpants for hours. The activities are so ridiculous; the food is horrible. I brought my Mom food every night. When family comes to visit, the front desk IS ALWAYS empty. The staff scatters like roaches so you can not get any answers to your questions. The doctors do not call you back. PLEASE DO NOT PUT A FAMILY MEMBER INTO THIS PLACE. You will regret it for the rest of your life. I had very high hopes for my Mom's care after talking to one of the admissions people so please know this is not a disgruntled review.. The administration cares only about getting their money. This was by far one of the most awful experiences I have ever had. The nutritionist was the only nice person on the floor, but even she took it upon herself to get involved in personal issues my Mom had that she should not have. There is not a shred of professionalism in the place.

Frequently Asked Questions about Golden Gate Health Care Ctr

A Place for Mom has scored Golden Gate Health Care Ctr 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
