I thought Friends Home & Village was a very nice place. [Name removed], the woman who helped us on the tour was really nice. They were our second place runner up choice.
Great place to live. Everyone is nice and kind. The prices are super affordable.

The facility is nice, the people are very nice and even the initial costs are reasonable. However, if you or your loved one is on a fixed budget and that is a major factor in your decision, the cost goes up substantially each year. My mother moved in at the end of the year and in January they increased her rent after only a few months of being there. It continues to go up 3% each year. While that may seem standard, the total monthly fee also includes food, so the 3% increase is also on her meals. Please consider this when making your decisions. If we were to decide to move her out after only a few years to something more economical we would lose the buy-in making her first two years extremely expensively. My mother is relatively young and will likely live a long time. It’s unfortunate that the powers that be don’t think long term to keep their residents happy and make them feel valued but instead price them out. Perhaps their plan is to rotate their residents to keep the new resident buy-in fee free flowing. They have us between a rock and a hard place and they know it. Not a good way to do business.

Too small, no kitchenette, no transportation on the weekend for church.

Everybody and everything is great at this facility. Have not had one bad experience so far. My mom loves it. Hope it stays this way. Everyone treats us all as if we were family.

While the rates start out inexpensively as a lure, there is an increase imposed at the start of each new year. Within 15 months my Mother’s rent went up $600/year. Whether it’s worth it or not is personal but for those on a fixed income, it can be quite a hardship and the concerns were met with indifference.

We really liked this community. The outside surroundings are beautiful. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. It also has a library which is very important to my mom. We are leaning towards picking this community for mom.

Very friendly people. Well maintained. Excellent location. Great value. It's a smaller facility so the care is more personalized. When you walk in the door, it feels like you are walking into someone's home rather than a retirement center.

We've been very pleased with Friends Home! From the very beginning they worked hard to make our experience a good one. They really try hard to make the resident feel like this is home, they let my loved one pick the colors for the new carpet and paint for the room when they were getting it ready for him to move in! The staff are all incredibly friendly, and very helpful. There is always someone available to provide any kind of assistance you need; rides, getting stamps, directions, etc! They also do a great job with the food. I'd recommend this place to anyone who is looking!

I needed to find a place fast for my Dad after he was discharged from the hospital for a mini-stroke. Norma Coverdale , the Director of Resident Services, was great to work with in getting my Dad transitioned. The staff is superb. Most have been there for many years, which really says something about the environment. The meals are delicious and home-made. My kids love to join their Grandpa for lunch whenever we can. The Personal Care service is awesome. It consists of med management, laundry care, apartment care, etc. I wish more senior care places are run this well. There is something to the Quaker philosophy. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Interesting blend of lovely old central building with assisted care, combined with outlying large apts for more independent residents. In Newtown, not NTSq, downtown, across from library. Dee visited 03/15.

My mom seems to be pretty happy there. They're very friendly. I'm not sure about the value because my mom has a POA and she's taking care of all that. The care seems to be very well. Mom seems to be doing a lot better than before she went in there. She likes the bingo and acutally goes out for walks. I'm not sure if she's gone on the shopping trips yet. I like it a lot. It seems to be what my mom needed. I recommended it to somebody else and they put their mom there.
