An assisted living community is a residential living community which offers assistance, support, and care to self-sufficient seniors who do not require skilled nursing support. The types of service provided often involve assistance with activities of daily living. Residents may be kept under observation and assessment. Under certain circumstances, communities may offer Alzheimer’s care, skilled nursing care, or hospice. In Pennsylvania, the annual median cost for an assisted living community is around $40,020 . This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include activities and socialization, housekeeping, monitoring and emergency response, and 24-hour supervision.
