A great community
The staff members would be a 10 out of 10, they are just wonderful. The sales lady we worked with was extremely helpful, she really bent over backwards to accommodating our loved one with anything he needed. Being out of state I could not take him to the tour, so she sent a bus to the hotel he was staying at and took him on the tour herself and gave him lunch. The activities are starting back up, and from the food we have seen it looks and smells really good. For those who are out of state, this community is right next to a bunch of fast food restaurants, a Walmart and VA hospital.

My experience at Echelon of Tucson
There is a lack of communication between the staff and the people who live here. There's no follow-up. They don't even have a map to tell you what building is what. I find it interesting you can look at a brochure for an apartment to see a map of the property, but not here. They say they want to take care of a problem, but the food is horrible. And I'm not the only one to say that. It's hard when they serve three meals a day but I can't eat any of it because it's so bad. They don't have fresh stuff. It's all frozen. There's supposed to be a full kitchen staff, with a chef and a sous chef, which they don't have. It's a bunch of teenagers that deliver it, and half the time it's wrong. It's terrible, and there's hardly any alternatives. But you shouldn't even have to look at the alternatives. You should be able to eat the first thing they cook. The activities director is really good though. She plans activities and puts them in the newsletter, and she's open to suggestions. She's acted on the suggestions we've made. She's really good. I like the coffee thing on Tuesdays. It's nice to get together with everybody. And we have happy hour on Thursdays, and it's nice to get together and hang out an drink. Who doesn't want to do that? The maid that was here for 30 years quit. The new person had only been here a couple of weeks and quit. Now I'm not even sure if they have anyone. And the staff hasn't kept us in the loop. You have to go down there to ask. And then they may not even give you the right answer. They also don't always get your meal requests to the kitchen either. It's things like that that are frustrating. They hire people who are inexperienced, and it shows. I'm not sure what their method is, but if you're doing something wrong, I'm not sure if they're communicating it to each other to keep it from happening again. For the most part, I like my apartment, the people that live here, and the things that I do. I've decided I'm going to try not to complain about the food anymore and rely more on the alternative menu. And if that doesn't work out, then I would consider doing something different with my living situation.

If you need assistance on the weekend they are not available, there only a front desk person there. I would recommend this community if your loved one is truly independent.

I would recommend it for independent living
The cleanliness of the community is great, and the staff members are great. They all know us by name, and during COVID they have shut down the dining room. We do get a menu on Saturday's and we can choose what we want and they bring it to our rooms. Pre COVID the activities were fantastic, we would took day trips to the museums and visit different restaurants. Echelon has been taking really good care of us.

Independent living on Tucson
We have been living at Echelon for 3 years. We love the staff because they care about our needs. Our apartment is spacious and comfortable. We have cleaning service every week. Our meals at the present are delivered to our apartment. We get a weekly menu to make choices for our meals. I love our covered walkways, so regardless of the weather we are protected. I would recommend it for anyone who is looking to have others around . We did have trips to all the sights in Tucson and restaurants on Fridays. Of course these should continue when allowed due to the pandemic. I feel that it is a pleasure to live here.

The echelon of Tucson. At first we were quite happy, then company changed hands. They changed: directors, chef and activity director. Place went from 4 1/2 stars to 1/2 star. We moved our mother out. 2 plus years great 6mos we which had not happened. COVID 19 was their excuse for everything.

The food is not good
The food is awful. My apartment is fine. The building is stable. The staff are friendly , helpful, and good. I chose this community because they called and offered me a good price and I liked the looks of it better than others I visited. Because of the food, I would not recommend this community at this time

I am a Marine Corps Viet Bam vet. I am 70, considered a baby here LOL I swore 50 years ago I would never go back to apartment living. Never say never. Here I am at Echelon, after two years in VA hospitals...and loving it. The apartment and grounds are spectacularly maintained. The amenities go on and on. I never get bored here. The shuttle is awesome to have to go to medical appointments or shopping excursions. The staff is loving and caring...a blessing! The chefs and servers in the beautiful dining hall are great, fun and know me by name LOL The biggest and bestest attribute at Echelon are the residents. OMG what fun most of them are!! Sometimes I wheelchair over to the dining hall just for dessert AND to kibbitz with the many friends I have relished to find here. My very picky [and wealthy] friends who set up my apartment before I moved here from California said that if they ever had to move to a retirement community, Echelon would be their first choice. They looked at 10 others before I chose Echelon from my hospital bed. I think the world of Echelon and would 100% recommend it to anyone.

Declining in services
Keep in mind this is independent living, and does not offer a health care unit or memory care if that becomes needed. After being involved with this place for the past 9 years I have seen the food, management and cleaning service go in the wrong direction. I would not recommend this place.

100 Percent Perfect
My mother-in-law has been at Echelon for about three weeks. So far, she seems to be quite content, quite happy, and my wife and are very pleased overall. The staff is 100 percent perfect. When we toured, they called all the residents by name and chatted with them, they chatted freely to us as well. They seem quite genuine, caring, and attentive. My mother-in-law is tickled with the meals; there are so many options, and my wife and I have had brunches, breakfasts, and evening meals there with her. Several times a week, she is able to go to the swimming pool, go walking around the grounds, and she loves the chair exercises as well as other activities. We already have been recommending Echelon to others. It’s excellent.

Great place - Great Value!!!
We looked for a place for my mom back in April and she decided on the Echelon. They were renovating their apartments so my mom's apartment is like new and she got to pick out the flooring, wall colors, etc. They were very easy to work with in regards to selecting the apartment, setting a move date, and helping us find a mover. My mom has been living there now for 2 months and loves it. They clean her room well 1x per week. They provide 3 excellent meals a day ( there is an option for fewer meals). They have lots of activities and they provide a lot of transportation to doctors, shopping, and outings. The grounds are very well kept. The management staff go out of their way to be helpful and to provide a great environment for independent - semi assisted living. The price is very reasonable and is a great value for what you get. The location is wonderful also being off the main road but near just about every kind of store and restaurant you could image. We highly recommend it!!
