Snake Pit run by Mary Poppins.
When the hospital discharged me, I should've gone home. But I trusted my doctors, so went to Delmar Gardens.
I worked Disney for 8 years. I know the Happy business model facade.
Upstairs is colorful, well lit. You see groups socializing, playing bingo or having a drink (yes, alcohol) at the bar. Employees do the Disney smile, which can be scary if out of place.
It seems like a happy & fun place.
Lower level is locked. Very bland. Very few employees. Some walk around like zombies, they never speak. Call for nurse takes over an hour to respond, if they ever do.
I was fine when sent there for further PT. I left with a broken hip, femur & pelvis & torn tendon. Took 2-3 hours to get an ambulance to get me out of there.
No more "facilities" for me. This time, I'll go home.

Father was there for 9 years.
My father went there 9 years ago. They call me the end of January to tell me hospice is there with my father and he wants to see his two daughters. They didn't let me know his condition. I knew he wasn't eating nobody was feeding him he was falling out of the bed they didn't have the bed low enough he had cuts and bruises and Band-Aids on. I got real sick from him the whole month of [date removed]. I went to see him [date removed]. He dies [date removed]. . I did not get a call I called Monday I called every day that week finally on Friday the administrator answers my call and said oh your dad died Sunday like it was no big deal. Six out days go by before they even let me know. There is also a ladder in the hallway that was there for over an hour and a half I said this ain't healthy someone could trip even though the ladder was orange. I told three or four people funny the ladder got moved this was on a Sunday. Then I walked the hall I tripped on a rod I picked it up gave

Understaffed and overworked
We did not have a good experience at Delmar Gardens Overland Park. They were understaffed and the employees they did have were overworked which affects everything. The social worker could not wait to get us out of here. There were a couple of really good staff members that they had, but overall would not recommend.

Robbery
Shortly after moving here money was stolen from my purse. l reported it but as of today l have none been reimbursed. I moved here on the [date removed]. I also have trouble getting items that l have ordered delivered to me. I ordered items from Walmart and have a photo showing that 2 sacks were delivered to front desk but l only received 1 sack. I have been told that someone took the items in 1 sack and put them in the other sack but the other sack was full and that's why there was a second sack. So far l am out [price removed] and will not get my money back as l have tried numerous times.

A niggtmare
I was sent there for rehab following auto accident. I spent 24 hours there and it was a nightmare. I had broken bones and had had surgery. Was nearly dropped by aides left on the toliet and forgotten about. Bed was the worse than sleeping on the ground. Walls thin so a very noisy place as I was surrounded by the howlers and screamers. Greasy food made me ill. When I arrived mid afternoon I was dropped off in my room, handed the tv remote and left by myself. No staff ever came in till the next day to greet me or access me and by then I had made it clear my husband was coming to pick me up and get me out of that hell hole. The 20 hours I spent there was a nightmare and the longest in my life. Do not send your loved one here or go there yourself!!
