Our family had an in person tour and we just did not really get a overall warm welcoming feeling to it. We did not think that was going to be a good fit for our loved one.
I was not impressed with the administrative staff here at all during our tour. It seemed like they just wanted to take people who wanted to sit and stare at the wall.
Our loved is very happy with the meals and dining services. Prior to the pandemic the activities were good and the value is excellent. We would recommend this community to others.
Had a terrible experience there in memory care. Moved my parent after two months. Very little systems in place incidents not recorded. I could go on and on. Would not recommend
Our Mom moved in to A.L. at Cottingham in July 2019. We are so grateful! Every staff person, we have encountered have been kind, friendly, helpful and leaves us with a sense that they actually care about us and Mom. Having her live here has given us such peace of mind! There are wonderful activities for her to be involved in, if she wants. Moms neighbors are very sweet and she has made many friends already. Meals are good! Servers in the dining room nice and attentive. And we actually enjoy eating there with her when we can, it's affordable for us! Maintenance folks have been very helpful! And have taken care of things in a very timely manner! Housekeeping have been super! The nurses and aides that check in with Mom have been kind! The front desk ladies are awesome! There will never be any place that will feel like 'home' to her - as she left the house she lived in for over 55 years. But this is very close :-) She even tells us "I think this move was a good choice!" Again it's such peace of mind for us to see her adjust and enjoy living life again! Thank you Cottingham! And thank you "A Place for Mom" who helped guide us during this difficult time! We are grateful!
Is it ok to come in a family member's room and find snacks ,drinks and phones charging. Is it ok to watch an aid keep coming in the room to get her stuff. Where is the respect?

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. This is not the expectation for our staff. Immediately after reading this comment, our Executive Director addressed the issue with the entire staff to ensure this problem is resolved.
They helped me through the whole process. They are very friendly and the facility offers many actives. The food is good and they also had a in house cafe to get additional food or snacks etc. and the prices are very good.
My 85 year Mom moved into Cottingham Retirement Community the beginning of 2018 and we are all SO happy about her decision to move to Cottingham's Independent Living. We wanted a facility that had all levels of care so my mom could become comfortable in a facility and not have to move when / if her needs change. All of the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The residents are happy and easy to talk with which made Mom feel welcome and comfortable. So much do to: bingo, painting, playing cards, wine and cheese socials. I can tell Mom's "well being" has already improved since she is now more active. The most important part is that Mom is happy and enjoys her new friends! Of course, I can't forget to mention that she loves the meals and her cleaning lady! Thank you Cottingham for caring about my Mother!
Mom went from Tuesday am to Wednesday evening without a heart medicine they waited until last Wednesday to mail order 3 month supply I raised cain Wednesday am n told she would have medicine Wednesday pm asked Wednesday pm told medicine was at Walgreens they ordered emergency supply but I HAD TO GO GET IT! Will contact Ohio agency that regulates senior assisted living facilities tomorrow!!
I toured at Cottingham Retirement, and while I thought that the people there were nice, I felt that the community itself was old and dated. The décor was very 80s or 90s, and I felt it really could use some sprucing up.
My experience has great and I'm very happy being here. Everybody who has been around me has been good. The community is a good place for me, my daughter is pleased with the community and the whole family thinks it is a good place for "mom". The people are real friendly and I would recommend Cottingham Retirement Community to anyone.
We placed my loved one in the community and everything is well.
Beautiful, clean, cheerful place with awesome amenities. Apartment very spacious and nice outdoor areas.I especially liked the safety features for independent living such as GOD tracking and wellness check first thing in the am. Certainly a top of the line place.
My dad is doing extremely well since moving here. He loves it and we are more than pleased with the community. He is still trying to get into a daily routine but he is doing better. He has joined some actives and is enjoying them. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive and very accommodating. In fact, his case worker keeps in constant contact with me if she has any kind of concerns she feels I need to know about. The food we think is very good we have had a couple of meals there. The staff does not pressure you into doing anything it's almost the mind set of a cruise you can do as much as you want or as little as you want.
This community is exceptionally nice . The feel though that I got when I was there was dark and cold. The dining hall is great and very nice. The only thing that was the problem was that the price was a little bit more than expected.
I had a pretty good tour of this facility. This is a nice community with kind people. The community from what I saw looked nice and clean. Everything appeared well maintained. The staff was kind and friendly. They were also informative, and answered my questions. This community just wasn't the right match for my mother and her needs.
We found the facility to be clean and caring. The staff is kind but sometimes not as present as we would like. There are activities for the residents that are well planned.
This is a great community. Very clean. The food is excellent and the food needs some improvement and needs to be served warm. I was happy with the activities that they are offering my mom to help her stay active. I would over all recommend this community to other families.
Overall our experience with Cottingham Retirement Community has been a good one. It's a nice looking place, the people seem friendly, and I appreciate how good the staff is about checking on residents when they don't come out for meals or activities.
We have only had a friend living there for about 4 weeks. Up to this point it has been a very welcoming place with many activities for the residents. It is extremely clean and the caregivers have been very helpful and friendly. I think this place was a real find.
