My mother wasn’t doing well when I found Consuelo’s ALF, she wasn’t eating much, she wasn’t sleeping well, she was very depressed, and after one week I could see the difference, she was happy awake and clean. I felt so bad for waiting so long to move my mother from the other community where she was very unhappy. I have a great communication with Masiel the owner she is always calling me with updates, when I’m traveling for work Masiel is always available for me to see my mother on video. I love the way they care for my mother! Great people! Great Community! Thank you so Much Massiel and your caring staff for taking care of my mother the way you do!... Read more

“The owner of this community is absolutely amazing, she stays in touch with our family and is constantly letting us know when something is going on. She truly is amazing, we love her and our father loves her. Some activities they have are puzzles, arts and crafts, and TV time. The rooms are very clean, nice and everyone...

She takes more residents than she is licensed to have. She is only allowed 6 and my loved one was number 7. The staff members do not speak any English at all. If your loved one requires 2 person assist, they will tell you they can accommodate that, but they cannot. One caregiver worked 48 straight hours alone day and night and did all of the cooking, cleaning, and care. There are 2 bathrooms for the residents to use, one was out of order for over 2 weeks. My loved ones teeth were not brushed for 3 weeks. My loved one was in a wheel chair that would not fit through the doorway without being shoved through the door, therefore I could not get her out of the room and if there was a fire she could not get out. They put her to bed at 6PM and she did not have a TV or anything to do or anyone to check on her until she went to bed. I was told she would get 3 showers a week and she did not. We were there everyday, so we saw all of this happen first hand. We picked her up to take her to an evaluation at a new facility, she ate breakfast and we put her in the car, when we reached the new facility she was non responsive and they called the paramedics. The ER staff said it was mostly likely due to being given too much medication. I packed her things up that night and the administrator gave me a refund because she did not want any trouble. We were told she had security cameras to monitor her staff, I was there one night and police were asking if they had surveillance because something was going on in the neighborhood, they told the police that those were not working. There were a lot of promises that were not carried through with. It was a very bad experience for our family and we would not recommend them to others who are looking.
Our father passed away at this facility from natural causes, but during his stay everyone there was just fantastic. During the pandemic when we had to bring supplies over, they would go over to his villa, and get him set up in the front door so we could speak to him from outside. They would set up skype calls and take videos of our loved one. The staff members were very caring and wonderful, it was a great experience and they had great communication. It is a Spanish speaking community, but they have workers who speak very well English.
My mother has been a resident for a year now, and we are so lucky to have found [name removed], the owner, and her staff. From the day we met I knew my mom would be safe. What I didn't know is that she would be loved. These people are professional and compassionate and provide exceptional care. They really know my mom and communicate any issues quickly. They also send photos which has been great during this Covid-19 battle. They are keeping the residents and staff safe and healthy during this pandemic. We are so lucky to have found Consuelo's ALF. I highly recommend this facility!
Consuelo’s ALF has been home to my dad for the past year and a half. Before coming to Consuelo’s, Dad lived in a “corporate” owned facility where he was not able to receive the care and support he needed. Dad has dementia and it was important for us to find a place where he would be comfortable and safe. So be began searching and found Consuelo’s was that place. It is small, has attentive staff 24 hours a day, very involved owners, friendly residents, a home feeling, a nurse on hand (owner), spotless facility, and caring. Dad has personalized care, is safe 24 hours a day, medical personal are readily available for in home care, and we know he is getting the care he needs. We as a family appreciate the love and care shown to Dad at Consuelo’s ALF. I would highly recommend Consuelo’s ALF to any family looking for quality care and support for their loved one.
Consuelo’s ALF turned out to be a great fit for my mother, who had been living with my brother in Sarasota until he passed last December. [name removed] is not only the owner but also the heart, soul, and on-call nurse for her two buildings in South Tampa. As I live 2,000 miles away, I rely on [name removed] to take loving care of my mom, and she does. She frequently communicates with me regarding mom’s health and things she needs me to send. Mom has been there nearly a year now, and I have only the nicest things to say about Consuelo’s.
As an only child caring for elderly parents it was very difficult. My parents were both ill often at the same time. I had to leave my jobs to take care of them. Sadly my mother passed away last year. I was left caring for my father. My father was diagnosed with dementia and was unable to walk. He also suffered from insomnia. After four months, I came to the realization I couldn't take care of him. My cousin and I went to Florida and researched facilities to admit my father. Consuelo's was my first stop. The facility was small, clean and very organized, The owners [name removed] and her husband were friendly and very informative. The thing that impressed me the most was all the residents were well kept and active. Some residents were playing a game with staff, talking to each other and watching TV. [name removed] answered all my questions. My father will be there a year in November. [name removed] keeps me posted on everything related to my dad. She gives me her professional opinions. I trust and respect her. Another great thing is my father loves it too. [name removed] loves the residents and it clearly shows. I would highly recommend this facility to families. I have peace of mind. I can sleep well at night knowing my father is in good hands. I thank God every day for Consuelo's ALF facility and their amazing caring staff,
The owner at this community is absolutely amazing, she stays in touch with our family and is constantly letting us know when something is going on. She truly is amazing, we love her and our father loves her. Some activities they have are puzzle, arts and crafts and T.V time. The rooms are very clean, nice and everyone has their own space. The food is great, its very diverse. They cater to the residents their and are very accommodating. We are so happy with everything this community has to offer.
The owners really care for the residents, [name removed] has been helping me a lot, she is very passionate for what she does, and always responds to me and my family quickly. My mother was in two places before going to Consuelo’s ALF, and she was very unhappy. We decided to try Consuelo’s and we are very pleased with the care, cleanness, and support from the owners, the workers are very caring and they love what they do. We never had a communication issue, we are very happy and feel that this time our mother is in wonderful hands.
My husband goes here for 8 hours a day. The staff and care are exceptional. He loves to go and he always comes home happy.
My mom spent over two years at Consuelo’s until she passed. The owners [names removed] are great people, who truly care for all of their residents. The facility was always well maintained and clean. The food was always homemade and nutritious, and prepared to my mom’s needs. The staff there was always friendly and accommodating, even though language was sometimes a barrier. They have a big heart and it shows with the care that all the residents receive. My mom was at another memory care ALF which charged twice as much, but did not provide the intimate care that she needed and received at Consuelo’s. This is a no frills ALF, but the care is second to none.
Very friendly, but to far to drive to visit my love ones daily. Nice home family.
My stepmother recently resided at Consuelo’s ALF. From the time she became a resident there until her death a few months later, she was very well cared for by the owners and staff of Consuelos’. I never actually visited this facility in person, as I live many states away. However, when it came time to locate an assisted living facility for my stepmother to move into (straight from a hospital), the owner made everything as smooth and easy for me as she could. She took charge and worked closely with me to make the transition an easy one for my stepmother. She was in constant contact with me and kept me in the loop. When I would speak with my stepmother about questions or concerns she had, all I had to do was notify the owner and the issue was quickly resolved or answered to my satisfaction. So I give high marks to the owners responsiveness. In addition to that, the owner is a very pleasant and nice person who clearly at every moment conveyed her care and concern for and patience with my stepmother, who could at times be somewhat demanding. But even if the owner had not been so pleasant and easy to work with, I would still give this facility high marks because quite simply, my stepmother was very happy there. She began to improve physically, to heal from certain things that she had suffered in the hospital, and her appetite increased as well. She always raved about the delicious meals prepared and served (homemade!) by the owners and staff. The meals were always healthy and nutritious and this was very important to my stepmother and to me. My stepmother made friends with the other residents. She also had friends who lived locally and who visited her in person and the reports from these friends were very positive. They told me that the facility was very clean, the staff courteous and attentive and that my stepmother seemed very happy. All of these factors made me relieved and happy with the decision to choose Consuelo’s ALF. One thing to take into consideration in choosing Consuelo’s is that apparently the staff either speak little or no English or at best it is their second language. This seemed to cause some problems for my stepmother at times, as she sometimes felt there were miscommunications. But on the whole it did not seem to be a problem, and in fact she had fun trying to learn some Spanish herself. Finally, I want to mention that this staff had the very onerous task of caring for these residents during the recent hurricane that impacted Florida and they managed to move all of the residents to a shelter and keep them safe and sound during that crisis. They deserve much credit for their efforts during that very stressful time. Even with all that they had on their shoulders, the owner kept in contact with us to reassure me that everyone was safe and secure. These meant a great deal to me. In summary, I enthusiastically endorse Consuelo’s ALF and believe you would be hard-pressed to find an owner who takes such personal pride and interest in making sure your loved one feels like they are respected and cared for.

I love this place the Owner and her husband are always on top of things, they do everything they can to help the residents and family members, I am at peace now, I feel that my mother is in Great hands...the workers are very caring they do communicate with us about everything, they are always willing to help and yes they have their accent when they speak English, but when you see the way they care about your family member, the language is not really a barrier at Consuelo's .Staff is well trained and Super nice to the residents and family members. We as family members also have to Respect and Appreciate that important job that Caregivers do everyday for our family members. Our family recommend this facility 100%. Love Consuelo's :)
This was quite adequate for a senior home. It was on the other side of town that is a long drive for me. It was a perfectly fine tour but they were not suited for my mom. Nothing against the community.
I saw my mom last week and she is doing much better and more awake. She was talking when I called her. I see it is a better home. They are very good, very attentive, very friendly, and they took to my mom very well. My mom looks happy. They feed her and it is very clean. Any issues I may have they address it quickly. The owner is great too.
The owners [Removed] and her husband have been great, especially when Mom had an unsettling change in awareness and energy level for a few days. She had become lethargic and unresponsive. [Removed] who is a nurse had been monitoring blood pressure and pulse but when she noticed it contacted me and immediately got with the doctor who visits there and had a home health nurse see her, do blood work, ordered a chest X-ray, and draw a sample to check for a UTI. I was alarmed and not sure what to do but [Removed] showed such concern as if she were a family member and kept me posted twice a day. Yes I'm glad I moved her from a larger facility that simply couldn't provide the memory care attention my 92 year old Mom needs.
I feel that Consuelos should have bilingual staff for their residents, they only hire uneducated people that have arrived from cuba and are not educated , they take a quick course and that qualifies them. The owner is so busy trying to open other facilities that she does not give a hoot if there is only 1 caregiver for 9 elderly people. When you ask questions to things pertaining to your family member no one knows anything. The owner has no respect for her staff cause she pays below the minimum wage. She is too trying to make as much money as possible and hiring people fresh off the boat, what happen to rules and regulations that the state of florida should be enforcing with places like consuelos, I am reporting them to Congressional legislation
Great place for my moms needs at the time.
